Love the one man bucket brigade :) I always find it fascinating to watch how the smoke roils up and interacts with the wind; it's almost mesmerizing. Stay safe out there!
I’m moored in a boatyard that’s adjacent to a similar scrap yard - every night when it gets dark they set fire to whatever they want to get rid of - the smoke drifts across the neighbouring town and the locals put up with it
Bet you are glad you was not on the visititors morning Phil ,the smoke is very harmful , trying to get rid of his tyres instead of paying for them to be took away I bet ,still glad you went for that walk otherwise we would not know nothing about it
There was smoke when I walked past at the start of my walk. It just seemed like a normal bonfire. When I returned about 45 mins later it had gone a bit wild. Couldn't really see because it was down an embankment.

Those shots were worthy of the evening news. Nice shooting!
Thank you. I must get myself a small compact camera that can shoot in HD...
Thanks for that. Very interesting to watch. Glad you weren’t moored up there.
I nearly was moored there.
I love the state of the art fire fighting equipment.
A tin bucket 😂😂😂
It was very effective though on the smaller fires.
If I was a canal cartoonist -- "Maybe if we lay a smokesceen CRT won't notice we've overstayed our mooring."

well thats the best of current vids 10/10 just the relief we need right know
keep safe phil ,its amazing to know you are where you are now ,hving been watching your vids for some time m8.
WOW! That was some fire...
I'm glad I wasn't moored there.
I wonder if the fire was deliberately started or are they burning wire to retrieve the copper from them?
thanks for the video, hope you are well.
Wow Phil. Good job you weren’t on those visitor moorings.
I nearly stopped there.
Interesting video.
Wheres the chimney gone " Fred Dibnah " did you like that
Firemen with buckets? Sign of government cut backs?
Or it was easier than trying to get a hose up there maybe ? And no ... I’m no Tory fan.
10/10 for the smoke content.
Do NOT turn the sound down, admittedly there’s a fair bit of wind but there’s also lots of other sounds that add to it.
Thanks Phil it was something different, I see you not allowed to move at the moment, I hope your water tank is full and toilet empty?
We can still move to get essentials - water, elsan, rubbish etc.
scrap yard fire you can bet there are a lot if tocsins in that
I thought tyre burning was illegal here in the UK.
I couldn't see what was burning, but it smelt like burning rubber.
@@NarrowboatJourneys Maybe they got caught in the fire by accident.
There was a fresh breeze blowing it towards the canal.
That smoke was huge hope no one was hurt
Stay safe from fires and bugs, Phil...good job we can still hug our furry friends isn’t it?
I could almost taste that smoke
That was at the visitor moorings. I'm glad I didn't stop there.
Well that’s one way how to get rid or your tyres
thats shocking to let hat happen
Scrap yard is going to get one hell of a fine for the tires burning, well in the US for sure they would.
I don't know what the outcome was? I've left that area now. They might get away with it if it was an accident?
What’s that smoke doing for the environment bad shouldn’t have been allowed
I don't think it was allowed. It set fire to the trees and canal side vegetation.

good capture. could be fined for that

Did the fire brigade extinguish the fire or did the fire go out on its own? One man with one bucket.... ;o)
They had a fire engine down there but they also set up a pump on the canal. I couldn't see much through the smoke.
@@NarrowboatJourneys That brings up a question, you know how there were and are fireboat tugboats, have there ever been any canal fireboats?
@@scottfw7169 Take a long time to get to a fire at 4 mph.
Looks really stinky . . . . bleh . . .
It was, I stayed upwind of it.
What's burning, well done steak?
Tyres mostly, going by the smell of it.
Wow... Good thing it was only tires, used one at that...
I'm only guessing it was tyres - smelt like burning rubber.
