- The subject of this alluring work is The Hon. Mrs Philip Leyland Kindersley (née Oonagh Guinness), later Lady Oranmore and Browne, a famous socialite, art collector and society hostess.
Oonagh was the daughter of Ernest Guinness, whose father Edward Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh - head of the family’s brewing business and the richest man in Ireland. Oonagh and her two sisters were famously dubbed the ‘golden Guinness girls’.
We are delighted to present this work by Philip de Laszlo as the highlight of our Masterpiece and London Art Week exhibition - 'From Still Lifes to Socialites'. For further information, visit our website: philipmould.com/
I am always learning a lot when i watch videos by Mr Mould, he is such an amazing art expert and such wonderful speaker I am an aspiring artist and his depth of knowledge on the subject is impressive 😊 its as if I am attending a prestigious school
An exquisite painting. I love the way he has captured her gossamer dress. Thank you.
What a magnificent portrait. From the facial expression to the jewelry to the dress - it's all magnificent. I love it.
Breathtaking portrait! Thank you for sharing this artist with us✨🌹✨
So pleased you've enjoyed it!
Beautiful portrait, thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for watching!
Wow! The way he painted that organza is beautiful and the skin tone is perfect. What a wonderful portrait. No wonder he was proud of it.
I thought it was by Sargeant at first, except for the face 😁. It’s spectacular
Same. Very Sargeant like indeed.
Beautiful painting.
That's a stunning portrait! Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for watching!
Spectacular in every way. This has an informality and freshness seldom seen in society portraits, made to flatter the sitter. This one seems to have an authentic vision.
Wonderful skin tones and organza.
Delicious! ♥️
Interesting about that brushstroke - it feels as the painting would be very static and dull without that brushstroke. It added dynamics into the composition. Super!
He painted the young Princess Elizabeth in the same pose, very similar composition to this. Thanks so much for the videos Philip. Utterly bewitched by them. Best wishes from Edinburgh
'Great to have you back on UA-cam, Mr Mould!
Please do more like this - portraits of this period are the most alluring, lavish, mesmerizing as you mentioned that align with Sargent. My favorites! I also love Sisley, LaTour, and Pissaro.
A beautiful painting. I have a small still life by his daughter in law Rosemary
Gorgeous! Mmmmm, I'll ask my friend Marina Guinness if she has more to share with you. Thank you Phillip!
Wonderful portrait the artist captures the gaze of of a young woman who knows so much about life already but is eager to to start the next chapter of her story. I have to say that frame is real tour de force of a real craftsman.
I’m seeing a bit of Winterhalter too. Delicious brushstrokes
The detail and living glow is….magnificent!!😲 All the talent of a Gainsborough or Reynolds…but….in the 20th Century😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊
Wonderful as always, thank you Philip & team!
Gosh he didn’t exaggerate her beauty, lovely painting thank yiu
Look at that necklace - you feel like you could reach out and touch it. Exquisite.
Thank you so much.
Captured the delicacy of the strawberry blonde colouring. The dress is the masterpiece of frothy glamour, of film petal shapes of silky delicacy. She has fingers like my own. People have always commented on my hands and long fingers and the shape of my nails.
This painting was hanging in a mansion here in Atlanta.
Just a fabulous interpretation.
To me the random stroke looks like his signature. Outstanding portrait, 🤩 thanks!
Oonagh Guinness is painted in exactly the same pose as his painting of Anastasia Mikhailovna de Torby, including his depiction of her hat and hand positions!
Breathtaking
Beautiful, she seems to be sitting in a chair similar to the one seating Lady Agnew by Sargent.
I don't believe there is any genre that stirs the senses more than what lies within the emotive content of a great portrait. Landscape continues to be the most popular genre on a primordial basis of visual stimulus - BUT ! A glorious portrait can be so much more - Portraits as a humanistic aspect of visual expression hold a vast array of sensual potential in connecting man and mind to subject. It is after all what lies before us that is our teacher and one can glean a great deal for this beautiful capture.
Stunning
Radiant.
Just wow! I never heard of the artist, but it is worth to have a closer look. Thank you very much for introducing...
@Philip Mould & Co Philip, will you be traveling soon to Boston, for the "Monet and Boston: Legacy Illuminated", exhibition? The reason for my query, is that I would love to do the walk-through, with you. Ta~
Artist when he created it (in a deep rustic voice): "I just painted what I saw mate"
Fab.
Does this still belong to a member of the Guinness family? If not, what's the story?
Thought this was the dude from Warlock, Julian Sands
that comes from giving up gulash and paprica for cauliflowers and veggies, mr. laszlo...
De Laszlo painted my female ancestress
Looks like the wee kid in the 80s that lied about knowing antiques.
Succeeds as a portrait but I don't particularly care for it as a painting.
Masterful painting. But really don't care about some pasty, disgustingly wealthy punk even if Guiness is delicious. :)
Thanks Philip! I was thinking maybe a touch of Rosemary Clooney for that Hollywood aspect....en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosemary_Clooney#/media/File:Rosemary_Clooney_1954.jpg
