First clear description I've seen of how the hybrid drive train is managed to ensure electric power is always available. Thanks.

That’s an awesome idea, 1 gauge that can switch between propulsive sources.

Can you hear the engine running in pure mode when it's stationary? Does it only turn on above a certain speed or RPM?

This IS the first video of the S60 that actually explains the pure electric only drive fr. the driver's perspective that I've found. Thanks! We'll done.
What's the fastest you can go keeping under the gas drop icon (all-electric) converted to mph?

The petrol engine kicks in at 75 mph+ regardless of the cars charge

I wonder why Volvo just adds the hp numbers. That's not how it works. Anyone that drives it can tell you, it's quick, but not 415hp 500lb ft quick.

      Explain why

@@woody7155 guess: the front gets 2/3 of the HP but only 1/2 of the torque it's not as efficient as it would be if it was distributed more evenly. I made this up from my butt so that someone who actually knows what's up will come and correct me, then we will know how it really works.

there is actually two electric motors and also a torque converter as well. as for instrumentation it is functional but BMW 330e dash is sleeker. overall the graphics on the two screens actually are the worst part of this car - not on same level as BMW, Audi or Mercedes. overall interior is also not on German level no matter what anybody says. only nice looking part of interior is the two-tone steering wheel if you go beige. i like the innovative drivetrain and the exterior styling and that's about all i like about this car. the seats are good but did not wow me. i am also not sure that you get 100% of power with battery depleted - lithium batteries can't deliver full power below about 40% state of charge - though this car only uses about 90 hp from the battery so even if you do lose some power you probably won't lose more than about 20 hp.

BMW 330e dash looks like an awful attempt to replicate Knight Rider. Not a fan at all. I haven’t owned a Mercedes, but I’ve owned three BMWs and two Audis…huge fan of German engineering (still the best IMHO), but to say that the internal quality/craftmanship of the s60 doesn’t compete is laughable. Volvo did an outstanding job here.

@@SunDVL08 i actually ended up getting the Volvo ( S60 T8 Inscription ) and the *quality* of interior is very good ( very good materials and construction - soft touch and solid feeling ). my complaint is the STYLE of the interior ( i prefer BMW and Audi interior styling, with more crisp, chiseled lines ) and the screens on Volvo are a little pixelated but very functional. i also wish the seats in the S60 had ventilation - even Hyundais have that now. later in summer when it's 100 degrees i will miss the seat ventilation.
