    My Experience with Texas Pride.
    1. Trailer paint was good.
    2. Weld quality was functional but hinges for dump doors were welded on crooked.
    3. Battery charge controller was broken, screws for mounting it had been driven through the circuit board.
    4. Hydraulic motor was mounted poorly, instead of drilling the holes a torch was used and the slag on the bottom of the holes was not removed.
    5. Multiple hydraulic leaks on this trailer due to the fittings not being tightened.
    6. One automatic adjuster on the axles was not seated at the hinge point and required the hub to be dissassemb so that it worked.
Texas Pride promptly sent me a new battery charge controller, but all the other items were repaired at my time and expense. My conclusion is that the Texas Pride Quality Control department does not actually test things on these trailers. Brand new trailer does not mean a functional trailer.

Man have they grown!!!!! I bought my Texas Pride dump trailer 9 years ago from Devlin. Its interesting to see the improvements to their manufacturing plant since I was there 9 years ago. Their plant has grown immensely since I picked my trailer up on a Saturday morning 9 years ago. The paint was still fresh (not completely dry yet) from the shop. Not primed either (btw) 9 years ago. They had a young man wiring my trailer and applying the decals out in the drive. They didn't have the final checkout station back then. They just hooked it to my truck and that was that. We were able to pull out with our really brand new dump trailer a few hours later. I know this may be sounding critical of my experience but I'm just noting the improvements to their system in a few short years. I love my trailer and still have it here at the ranch. Haven't had a single reason to part with it because it is so handy.

Definitely a well built trailer. You nailed it with painted trailers being better than powder coated. I own one of each and my powder coated one is 5 years newer than my painted one, the powder coated one looks like trash and the painted one still looks great and that’s the one that gets used the most. I have a strong dislike for anything powder coated.

    • @conten.tcontent
      @conten.tcontent Рік тому +1

@@tazmankb26 agreed, this is purely perspective based on perception. I powder coat and liquid coat for a living, I have my nace level 2, and I have worked as a welding inspector for some odd years. It’s all in the prep when it comes to powder coat, these batched trailers are most likely powdered over raw mats or chem etched, and the workers working for 14$ an hour aren’t taking their time as well as properly trained to understand kV’s, mircos and air pressure in different scenarios/angles. And powder can be spot checked, there are units that apply and cure powder simultaneously, also there are other procedures powder coaters use to spot check.

It's the paint that PROTECT'S, Primer or Primer-Surfacer is just a adhesion promoter for paint to stick to the steel. Primer or Primer-Surfacer is porous, i.e. like concrete. Paint on the other hand is not porous, i.e. it will not let moisture pass through it. Texas Pride Trailers is a quality product, unfortunately Texas Pride Trailers head paint guy needs to bone up on paint and it components. My background 25 yr's combined autobody repair, 5 yr's {Body-Section Painter} major Aircraft Builder, in the Pacific Northwest, sounds like going, but with a "B." If you want to know, if the person even has a clue about paint in general, ask them what is most commonly used as the vehicle for paint. No, I'm not asking what paint is commonly used on motor vehicles, I'm asking what is most commonly used as the vehicle (product/material to make) for paint. If you get the deer in the headlight look, (or the you have three heads look) speak to another person, until you find someone who knows the answer.
    www.madehow.com/Volume-1/Paint.html
New synthetic vehicles developed from polymers such as polyurethane and styrene-butadene emerged during the 1940s. Alkyd resins were synthesized, and they have dominated production since. Before 1930, pigment was ground with stone mills, and these were later replaced by steel balls. Today, sand mills and high-speed dispersion mixers are used to grind easily dispersible pigments.

I like Texas Pride Trailers and I know no one manufacturer is perfect so after say that, they forgot to bolt down my hydraulic pump so it was loose inside the toolbox. I purchased the trailer from a dealer in Texas and didn’t notice the problem until I was already in Georgia. I called them about the pump problem and asked what size bolts are needed for me to drill the holes and install the bolts, they said 5/16X3/4 well that was wrong it was 3/8X3/4. Because of the cross member I was only able to drill one hole and install one bolt, not a deal breaker but annoying. So Devin is talking quality control I’m sitting here thinking you missed the pump and I was missing a grease zerk on the equalizer and they didn’t get all the weld splatter off before painting. Would I buy another trailer built by Texas Pride? Yes I would, they are a structurally sound trailer.

I have a brand new Texas pride. I’m very unimpressed compared to my other Load trail. It seems like the build quality is very very sub standard considering it’s American made. The engineering might be the “better” design but it’s like my trailer was made on a Friday when Garth brooks performs that same evening with free beer. Just a rush job in my opinion. No pride taken on building these actually. But that’s just my personal experience. Not to mention I picked mine because it was the best one on the lot with sorta straight hinges and everything actually “worked”….

Here in northern and central Virginia a lot of stuff is over priced I see the stuff at Lowe's tractor supply made in US but not much pant sharp edges you have to grind off and other trailer bands that are pretty pricey!! But not much quality I've priced 20' car hauler can't beat the quality and prices are within 300 or each other Texas Pride. Big Tex. Gator Made. Cam. PJ. Hudson which I own 1994 18' 10k equipment trailer it's a very well built. I also have 2007 Liberty 16' 12k skid steer trailer has fully integrated wiring they don't seem to paint under much but it's well built and I also have a 2005 7'x14' 12k dump trailer made in the Carolina's not sure the brand its it's a small manufacturer all I remember is DMV put down on the title make easy! And gross vehicle wasn't 2990 cazy I fixed it and I still get stopped by stat troopers they come to the window and say you're good i see the frame and the 8 lugs and then he said DMV has been messing up to many things! You're good to go I told him I fixed it at DMV he said it doesn't matter is always going to show to change from 2990 to 12k because it was titled with the previous owner in Florida at 12k for 5 years and then 3 years in Virginia as 2990 and make Easy it's a flag down signal for officer's that's its 12k now and we have to check the DMV records from the original title and now it's good but the other officers don't know that!. I've seen cheaply made trailers poor welds welds not complete trailer edges so sharp that it cut a line on my leg hand 3/16" deep 1/8" wide 4" long while I was loading and putting my hand on the edge trying to find a spot to strap to is my buddy's trailer I rather buy a used high quality trailer then buy a low quality trailer new and you will notice that some that are cheaper are rusting at the dealership after 3 weeks and only have one break axle add that axle to the price and your within $200 bucks, bills, clams, lettuce, whatever you want to call it but always check prices and ask people u see what they like and don't about their trailer that's what I did so I know now what trailer I will buy new even though I never bought a new one it's good to see how well they hold up especially because I'm in construction and farming it's ruff on them.

Any manufacturer who does a quality paint job is obviously trying to produce a good product rather than a cheap product that will let you down in a few years.

Powder coating, properly done is superior to paint. Paint or powder coating can be good or bad. The reason auto manufacturers paint has nothing to do with quality. It's an economic decision. Texas Pride paints for the same reason. Economics. It's a lot cheaper to paint.
Gotta wonder if one of the checks is for square. Lot of out of square trailers on the road.

Because of the difficulty of and cost of building and welding a zinc coated trailer, it can make them unaffordable for most people.

Not a single crane in sight where they were doing the majority of fab work .. absolutely horseshit that means vertical down welds ... speed over quality . Cranes to flip the trailers into horizontal position would equal a much higher quality weld

Powder coat does not belong on trailers, I would rather deal with paint any day
