Astonishing! I dont even know why there is unlikes. Truly, Japanese creativity and excellent craftsmanship is mind blowing. It never ceases to amaze me.
Skill. Artistry. Beauty. Quality. Where I live, these are often all given up in favor of making as much money as possible with as little effort. The world I live in feels cheap and bland as a result. This right here is beautiful in every way. When even the way a thing is constructed is beautiful, careful, and artful, that is a joy in life that cannot be beat.
Amazing the Japanese in many ways. When it comes to woodworking, no one can match them. Simply because of the quality of the woods in my country it is unthinkable to be able to get them.
This level of skill is mind-boggling. 8:44 he is slicing one of the thinnest pieces of wood possible right down the middle, lengthwise... BY HAND! Not with a razor blade or some intricate blade made for it.. but with a saw. This amazed me. Excellent work, truly.
I never knew the amount of work that it takes to make something like that they put more work in one panel then most Americans put in a hole house absolutely gorgeous and I was in total treat
rchancock Japanese houses are minimalist unlike westerners with two tv’s in every room and every infomercial product cluttering every bench top, best to have a few things of beauty than a house full of junk
As much I enjoy Japan and all things Japanese, the people themselves are more open to having more but lack the space. I have met and talked with plenty of Japanese who have left their homeland and adopted the lifestyles of the cultures around them. Upon returning to Japan, there is a common complaint that life, both socially and physically, is too restrictive. I remember one woman who shared her homestay visit with a family in Colorado. She explained that she was blown away by the kindness, hospitality and largess of her hosts. You will never experience that in Japan.
That is a level of precision I have not yet achieved but continue to stive for. I would love to take five years off and go to Japan for an apprenticeship that would be a dream come true.
Cannot add anything which hasn't been said by others. Appreciate the fact that I am "allowed" to watch and share in this amazing activity. What a pleasure to see such "art".
must be nice to work somewhere where quality is more important that time spent making it.Thats why they get so good, else where in the world it needs to be done yesterday
You guys are awesome. What skills you have to do fine work only those that have a lot of money can afford. I would hire you guys in a minute if I had a project to build. Thank you for showing me and the world your skills.
The discipline, dedication and determination; combined with skill, talent, mastery of the art and love of traditional values and work ethics (which is obviously instilled in the individuals that produced such beauty) was a site to behold. That is what is presented in this video. Amazing craftsmanship. It brought joy and admiration to my heart just to observe those talents put in motion. From one woodworker to another; Thank you for sharing. Absolutely beautiful.
just amazing. the precision in the cutting and shaping. i've been wood working a long time..but they are in a whole different league... I wouldn't be even allowed into the stands to watch..
having all your fingers is quite common over here in the uk as we use blade guards, i carnt see this guy rushing around like a headless chicken either as that when you loose fingers
I swear the Swiss and the Japanese craftsmen are intricate. they are super focused. amazing. and second segment background music, Is Storybook Love (The Princess Bride Theme Song). I was listening to it. and I was like "Wait I know that tune!" all in all this was a great video.
I was trying doing similar work in my technical school days. Since I came to England I couldn't find a space to make my own workshop. I couldn't afford to pay for space for council tax, rent a place. All i could manage to do here in English is absolutely out of my skills as Furniture maker and Transition Joinery. My dreams is to get myself on foot, to able to afford a space, if is just a little space I will be so grateful. My prayers 🙏 all days 🙏
love it - once i get my doors built (out of the old deck joists I just ripped down), i'll make some screen doors something along these lines - the craftsman style has a flavour of japanese style to it - simple and beautiful
Dear Sir/Madam, One never cease to be amazed at this marvel. It truly is hand made wood engineering at it's finest. What joy it is to have such woodwork in one's own home. Kind regards.
Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you very much for your hearted response. It was really an absolute pleasure watching these Masters making their craft. I could never tire of viewing it. Kind regards
一昔前にはこんな技術を弟子ではない限り公開するよな事は無かったです。

Astonishing! I dont even know why there is unlikes. Truly, Japanese creativity and excellent craftsmanship is mind blowing. It never ceases to amaze me.
Because the unlikes are losers.
The only thing greater than their level of craftsmanship is their level of patience!
Tedious work, but it sure pays off in the end!
The amount of patience and precision given to create this beautiful art is incredible.
When words fail, this type of beauty takes over and does so much better a job. Truly amazing...I am humbled!!

Wow Japanese carpentry is so intricate and elaborate...kudos
Amazing the Japanese in many ways. When it comes to woodworking, no one can match them. Simply because of the quality of the woods in my country it is unthinkable to be able to get them.
Thank you very much!

Can you help me understand why they're doing it that way? Seems unnecessarily complex to me..
obviously it's not for functionality, but for beauty.

Whole as in entire. Hole is a void or cavity. But agree with your statement.
