    Interesting timing, as I had decided before seeing this new video, to wear my Dior Eau Sauvage EDT at an indoor function tonight. Also, earlier in the day I bought 2 Duas, but not this one. Didn't know about Dua having it. Eau Sauvage EDT is my #2 frg of all time.

    I have acquired several of the mini bottles of Eau Sauvage. They came from the 90's sets of minis (with Fahrenheit, Poison, Dune, etc.). I'm guessing those are close to the original scent without much change. I found the larger bottles don't last, especially the plastic ones get discolored. My fav or this type is Armani PH.

    This was a great review. I found some differences between C Vintage and my not fresh vintage Eau Sauvage. However, C Vintage definitely works for me: no need for Fiero or more OG as I'm hoarding C.V bottles. They seem to have emphasized making the opening last longer. I also got a hint of old-school leathery animal noises, but they seem to have nearly gone away in recent wearings. I should have tried D&G Masuline sooner. It seems. The Dua version also has all occasion regular wear status for me. I'd imagine that Vintage Creed Vetiver will have asmaller fan club with its musky / musty old-school undertones; I got 1 backup. Appreciate the review and willingness to put the karaoke performances out there.

    The only version I have tried is the modern parfum version, but didn't care for it because I got a licorice-like note from it. Does the EDT, or this Dua have that note? I believe IIRC that that note was from the anise?

    Even though Duas are still quite expensive as you mention, I often like to get the Dua version simply because they've yet to really let me down and their fragrances always have a bit of might to them. You can pick up their version of a relatively weak summer fragrance and it might just let for 10 hours and have sillage that makes people smell you from across the room.
    With that said, I've yet to pick this one in particular up even though it's on my radar. I could definitely see myself picking it up on my next order though, I love the Eau Sauvage fragrances and the one thing that I've always missed out on was one that had a heavy dose of oak moss, which it sounds like the Dua version brings back to at least some extent. Like I said, they've really never let me down so I think it's worth a shot. I know there's been talk that they're dropping their inspiration of a mid 80s bottle of Polo Green sometime this month, so maybe a good time to pick up both fragrances and inspired by two of my personal favorites.

      The Dua clone of Polo Green, Bet on Green, is terrible too. I have both Cosmopolitan Vintage and Bet on Green. Polo Green is my #1 fragrance and Dior Eau Sauvage EDT #2 out of 200 bottles. But the Dua clones of these fragrance's vintage formulation are terrible. Don't know if the Dua copies are bad, but the fragrances are. They smell SO DIFFERENT than the real recent formulations I have, and much worse.

    Nice video Dan. Glad your happy with it. I am a Dua fan and like/love many of their offerings. Eau Sauvage remains my favourite fragrance so I was really eager to give Dua's take on it a go. I've had bottles of Eau Sauvage since the late 1980s and still love it reformulated versions too. However I am just working from memory but sorry to say I didn't think it was that close to the original Eau Sauvage. I thought it missed the wonderful top notes. Don't want to bag DUA as Cosmopolitan Vintage is a very very nice citrus aromatic in its own right. I've had it a few weeks and I think its improving as it settles so who knows maybe it will get closer to the original with time. Our noses are all a little different so give it a go make up your own mind. It's still a really nice fragrance I am just not so sure how close it remains to formulations pre the 2000s .

    • @JT-rx1eo
      @JT-rx1eo 3 роки тому

      I not only think the Cosmopolitan Vintage is not close to my beautiful recent formulation of Eau Sauvage EDT, but it's actually a terrible fragrance in it's own right. Smells like nauseating synthetic Lemon Pledge. Was the 1966 Vintage Eau Sauvage that bad or is Dua's clone attempt that bad?

    • @josephszymanik9609
      @josephszymanik9609 3 роки тому +1

      @@JT-rx1eo Dua's cosmopolitan vintage is a bad copy of Eau Sauvage. I was trying to not be too negative. My dad wore Eau Sauvage in the 1970's it was beautiful and I've loved it ever since. Wearing it myself since the late 1980's .I noticed a slight drop in quality from the early 2000's but nothing alarming. The current version remains beautiful still my favourite fragrance even over any niche fragrance and way better than cosmopolitan vintage.

    • @JT-rx1eo
      @JT-rx1eo 3 роки тому +1

      @@josephszymanik9609 Thanks for that reply and confirmation. So its Dua's attempt that is bad. I was having difficulty believing Eau Sauvage could have been that bad. So the current formulation is reasonably close to the original? Someone wrote that two bottles of vintage Eau Sauvage were putrid and bitter, which describes this Dua. I wonder if those had juice that had turned, and I wonder if Dua was working from a bad, turned batch of vintage juice. That is the only explanation I have. My Dua clone of Polo Green is similarly putrid. I'm familiar with the recent formulations of both Polo Green and Eau Sauvage since they are my favorites of my 200 bottle collection. Other Dua clones I have are very good, like the ones for MDCI Invasion Barbare, YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, and Creed Green Valley. What's curious though is Mr. Smelly's review of this Cosmopolitan Vintage. I would think the difference would be hard to miss.
      I left a one-star review on the Dua website. I wonder if they'll show it.

    I've had 2 bottles of vintage Eau Sauvage of eBay and both were rancid with a very bitter smell. Also had vintage Gucci PH and YSL PH, and they too were rancid. It seems to be inherent with citrus heavy fragrances unfortunately. I will have to try the Dua clone as I love Eau Sauvage.

      Interestingly, the Dua Cosmopolitan Vintage I have has a bitter rancid smell, nothing like my great recent formulations of Eau Sauvage. I'm wondering if Dua cloned a vintage formulation gone bad.

    Well an update to my earlier comment: I got this Dua Cosmopolitan Vintage, let it macerate for two weeks, and its horrible. Is this how vintage 1966 Dior Eau Sauvage EDT smelled? If so the recent formulations I have is 1000 times better. The new formulations are fantastic. #2 in my collection. The Dua clone is worse than lemon Pledge. There is a chance it was heat damaged shipping to Las Vegas. So I don't know which is the case. The Dua Polo Green clone, Bet on Green, is horrible as well.

    • @petekohn

      Wish I had listened to Mr Thomas rather than Mr Smelly. Ugh. Back to overspraying the real thing which you should be able to get for $109 for 200 ml.

    • @JT-rx1eo
      @JT-rx1eo 2 роки тому +2

      @@petekohn My theory is that Dua got hold of a really old, really vintage, bottle of juice to use as the source in creating their clone and the source juice was had turned in a big, big way. I have since acquired a real 2002 bottle of Dior Eau Sauvage EDT and the 20 year old juice in that "vintage" bottle has turned just slightly in the direction of the Godawful Dua clone. Closer to the beautiful recent formulations, but you can tell that if you extrapolate out to 40 year old juice it may as bad as Dua's. You know what they say about citrus top notes going first. Eau Sauvage EDT is all about citrus top notes. Added to this is the fact that a comment on Dua's website actually got by their algorithm. Guy posted that it is awful in the opening (but he liked the drydown, which is weird because it doesn't change. It's bad all the way through). But he didn't give it one star so it was published. My one-star review, unfortunately, never saw the light of day. But this is evidence that my juice was not heat damaged in transit and supports my theory that Dua's source vintage juice was completely bad. Awful work Dua.
      Come on Mr Smelly, what say you? I like Mr Smelly's work and I have his Gravitas, which is great. But how can Mr Smelly miss this? I have lots of great Dua clones, but this one and their new vintage Polo Green clone Bet on Green are Godawful in the worst way. STAY AWAY FROM DUA COSMOPOLITAN VINTAGE AND BET ON GREEN.

    Dr Bulovic just asked me to ask you if you'd like an unsolicited 'free perfume sample' from him to review... I told him, 'nah, I'm not asking that.' 'Anyway, what is it though, Dr Bully...?' I asked him. He said there are three he can send you - one is called 'This or That,' another called 'Unsolicited' and the flanker of that which is called 'Totally Unsolicited.' ....So - you don't want some unsolicited samples of this or that, though, right? Or some unsolicited 'Unsolicited?' Or what about even something 'Totally Unsolicited?'
    Dua is a great brand. Just have to add that in order to make sure people get that was 'JUST A JOKE' STUFF up there. Dua does a great job and has a great perspective on the world of fragrance.
