I recommend putting a few drops of alcohol from the back to dissolve the glue that holds the pan to the cardboard! It helps with the shadows not cracking because you don’t have to use any force to depot them! It helps especially with eyeshadow palettes that are not in a cardboard packing as you can put a few drops in the opening in between the pans, I have depotted all my old Too Faced palettes with that method.
This is definitely something I aspire to do in the future! I'm keeping track of how much I use each eyeshadow palette quarterly. This will give me an idea of which palettes I should consider depotting and/or decluttering.
I really enjoyed hearing your thought process as you worked. After your last video depotting singles, You inspired me. I had put a physician's formula 6 pan face palette into my declutter pile. I wasn't using it and most of the shades didn't work for my skin tone. So I tore it apart and pulled out my 2 favorite Pans. I had another 6 Pan physicians formula dream vacation palette that I do like but not every Pan. So I merged the 2 together and was able to hot glue the 2 pans into it. One shattered as I was working, but I knew what to do and was able to repress it with alcohol all the way you taught us. Now I love every shade in it and I'm using it a lot more! Thank you so much.
I just finished taking all my palettes (save for like 4 in hard plastic packaging) apart and adding a magnet sheet to the bottom cardboard layer so now all of my palettes are magnetic with removable pans 😂 It was definitely a project but hopefully it’ll help me from wanting to buy every new launch!
While I love having palettes as they are created, I also enjoy having singles and not being forced to go to another palette if I need a specific colour. Also, I think having singles is making my collection more curated, as I simply buy/keep only the shades that I really like. But at the same time, I need a fixed palette, so I can have a colour story and be able to combine shades when I don't have any inspiration. I am not decided what I like more, so I'd better have both regular palettes and singles hahaha With this video you really convinced me to try depotting some of my palettes and especially my single mini-blushes and add them in a single face palette. I know that face palettes are not this popular nowadays, but I actually like having them, especially for traveling and working days at the office.
This was was so fun!! And I loved that you included creating a couple custom palettes at the end! 🌻 Building palettes with my singles is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and I'm especially excited to play with them next month when I start making my palettes for spring. 😸💜🌷🐝
I depotted the morphe x jaclyn hill Ring the Alarm palette and Ulta Beauty frida Khalo eyeshadow palette. It took way longer than I expected and ended up breaking some shadows 😢 but now I have a general idea of what it entails ❤
I think I commented this on the lost in los Angeles video, but I've depotted bh shades by just sticking a thumbtack through the back like you'd do with a Natasha denona palette, and they come right out with no fuss :)
Super satisfying! I really want to depot some palettes but I haven’t tried yet. The alcohol idea is brilliant! I wonder if it would work better if the alcohol was in a spray bottle, to ensure even distribution of the soaking.
I wish all palettes had removable pans like ND or Colourpop. I depotted 2 GlamShop premade palettes and 1 palette from Makeup Obsessions and I get way more use out of them that way. 👍🏻 but definitely there were a few casualties 🤡 I love BYOPs, duping the vibes, creating custom colour stories, so it was worth it for me anyway. Pity I didn’t think of adding alcohol to the mattes at that time 🤣 thank you for sharing! 😊
I've actually been inspired by you to depot some eyeshadow palettes! So far, I did a Lime crime palette, a Yves Rocher palette and a Colourpop one and the all worked out great! They all had cardboard packaging as well though I'm still on the fence on whether to depot more eyeshadow palettes, so I'd love to hear some opinions on how to decide! All of the ones I did were palettes that I didn't reach for enough bc I didn't like the colour layout, wanted to declutter some shades (and therefore didn't really reach for them) AND didn't care too much for the packaging... Now I can't decide when dealing with palettes that e.g. I do like the packaging 😂😅...
First! Good morning, Sarah! ❤ I've depotted my BH palettes too; several blush quads and the Smitten in Switzerland palette. I have similar thoughts about their 16-pan formula and get more use out of them now. Thank you for sharing! :)
That was my dream. I had to so many BH cosmetics pallets, and wanted to do my own palett diy creation. This was like I don’t know. This was several years ago never got to it though. Didn’t happened but anyway it’s fun to see others do so.
Oh no! The mattes cracking… it reminds me of when I decided to depot my Juvia’s Place palettes. I had to repress every last matte shadow. But in the end, I love having them in one palette. It’s worth the extra work.
You’ll have less cracking if you remove both those layers of cardboard because you can just slide your tool under the pan completely horizontally instead of needing leverage to pry them off

Great tip!!
Oh yea i did that with my morphe

Having singles is the best! Customizing for different themes, especially to curate from new releases, is awesome
I wish you had kept that white shade so your rows would be even lol!
I like to moisten the cardboard when I'm depotting these sorts of palettes because I'm terrible at repressing shadows 🥲

One of your oalettes reminds me of the Limencello palette that everyone seemed to love but was super limited edition.
I think I commented this on the lost in los Angeles video, but I've depotted bh shades by just sticking a thumbtack through the back like you'd do with a Natasha denona palette, and they come right out with no fuss :)
I love your new color story palettes! I should really remember to wear eyeshadow more.
Super satisfying!

I love those mini palettes you made!!!
That was my dream. I had to so many BH cosmetics pallets, and wanted to do my own palett diy creation. This was like I don’t know.

Love this!! 😊
A blow dryer works wonders to melt the glue.
You didn’t swatch your spring palettes 😢😢😢
What fun!!! 😊
Does the label make an issue with the magnetic sticker you placed? I’ve been worried about that with depotting shades.
Nope! They are still just as magnetic with the stickers!
@@SarahRoseBeauty thank you’

Maybe use a little dropper with the alcohol? This coming from someone who has never done this. 😄
I want to depot my Juvia's Place palettes, but it kind of scares me. 😅
