  • How fast is speedflying? What's the actual speed of speedflying? Today I tested out GoPro 8 option to track GPS data... and here is the result! :)
    Speed flying is extreme sport - using small parachute to swoop down the mountains.

    flying so close and between those trees was insane! Amazing precision.. I'm only paragliding and sometimes when i go through two trees i get nervous, but at this speed ? Totally AWESOME ! and a little crazy also :D. Hope one day I'll start speedflying too

      Hahah fair enough!! :) It's my favourite line, so smooth. Yes! You have to try speedfly for sure! It's also cool to just fly around at fast speed, like birds playing in the wind! :))

    That was insane! You have some skills my friend - really great control of that glider. Were you paragliding for a long time before you started speed flying? Seems like you need to put in a lot of time & practice before you can fly lines like this.
    Looking forward to binge-watching more of these vids tomorrow!

      Hey hey! Happy that you enjoyed it! Thanks :) Yes, actually a lot of paragliding and practicing over last decade. And key is to never stop learning and do slow and precise progress. More vids coming soon! :)

    if anybody has ever questioned the incredible inaccuracy of the GoPro speed sensor, take a look at about 15 seconds to see that no human runs 41kph (27mph). it's always fast by almost double.

    Cool! Great line.
    What I always wonder in these speedflying videos, how much can you convert your speed into height? At what speed do you reach your stall point? (I fly regular paragliders, and if I try to cheat myself over an obstacle using the brakes I'll reach the stall point after a few seconds (followed by a plunge down when the glider picks up speed again).

    • @AddictionHappiness
      @AddictionHappiness  4 роки тому +3

      Thanks!! One of mine favourite lines around here :))
      More speed - more lift you can generate (more flare you have). It's hard to tell any specific numbers but for sure it is enough to avoid little obstacles in case you fall in that situation. Stall point really depends on wing but as soon as you loose/fall under your normal flying speed wing will stall. But in real life you don't need to push it to stall point in case you wanna avoid obstacle - as with high speed you have so much energy that you can generate good flare with just gentle pull :) Hope this makes sense.

    • @dbrgn
      @dbrgn 4 роки тому +2

      @@AddictionHappiness yep, that's what I assumed. Without the possibility of that finely controllable flare, most speedflying videos on UA-cam would be borderline suicidal :)

    So how difficult is it to gain altitude with a speed wing? How do you at any moment gain the altitude if you're too close to the ground?

    • @JohnTosti
      @JohnTosti 3 роки тому +2

      you can pull in the trimmers. Another quicker option is to pull rear risers or give symmetric brake input for momentary lift

    • @AddictionHappiness
      @AddictionHappiness  3 роки тому +3

      Its called flare - more speed you have more lift you can create. But its limited for sure. I might do a video on that topic! 😍🙌

      @nickdamjanovic5065 3 роки тому

      @@JohnTosti oh ok, thanks! But i imagine the height you gains inst that big?
      And what exactly do the trimmers do? I don't remember having them in skydiving canopies though I am a newbie to skydiving too.

    • @SkydivingTunnelGod
      @SkydivingTunnelGod 8 місяців тому

      @@nickdamjanovic5065 I know this comment is two years old and not sure if you still skydive, but to answer your question skydiving canopies don't have trimmers which on paragliding wings can allow you set the angle of attack. We can do something similar on skydiving canopies by pulling down on rear risers to flatten the angle of attack but once you let off of them the canopy will go back to its stock trim. You won't really mess with rear risers on skydiving canopies except on opening, CRW, and in swooping.

      It can be very dangerous but It can also be very safe. All depends on pilot..decisions, skills, limits... Usually if you se flight like this its not just crazy guy rushing down..its a lot of "training", preparations behind :) Maybe more on this topic in one future video? :)
