- Scream 6 has released one year after Scream 5 which had the insulting death of Dewey. In this video Scream 5 and Scream 6 will face off so we can determine which Scream movie is the superior sequel.

I'm pretty sure the reason Scream 5 has fan fic dialogue is that the 2 killers are basically trying to make fan fiction
But all of the characters talk like they’re in a fan fiction, not just the killers

Wes craven said that’s Kirby’s death was meant to be left up in the air. So it’s not a disservice bringing her back. He even added the scene of the basement patio door opening implying it was Kirby as Charlie and Jill were already upstairs

Knives aren't as fatal as people think unless its in the heart or a serious artery, which makes it such a brutal weapon
Scream vi, in one scene, that Reporter lady Gale got shot in the stomach by Amber but still at the end she is shown to be okay sitting and talking...
I mean they got so many mistakes in that movie.
Still, her presence in Scream 6 wasn't very important, she didn't need to be there. Mostly because there's no way she didn't work out the relationship between the killers when she's supposed to work for the FBI

5:54 Wes craven said himself before his passing that he wanted to bring Kirby back in a potential fifth film, which is why I feel they brought her back; if he hadn’t have said that, I’m not sure if they would’ve or not
I disagree with your conclusions on the ghostface killers. While I do agree that the killers motivation in Scream 6 was better and it was a decent homage to Scream 2, I feel as if the killers in Scream 5 are better because they have actual personality and a noticeable presence after their reveal. The killers in scream 6 were practically interchangeable personality wise, which seriously ruined the novelty of there being three killers.

Ya I personally don’t like the 5th/6th movies they’re not real Scream movies because Wes Craven didn’t make them. They aren’t necessarily overtly woke but they just have that modern movie crap to them.

Scream 2022 and Scream VI are being treated as if they are a redux of the original two films. As such, there were several parallels between VI and 2:
- Chad's brutal attack and apparent murder, in which the viewer is certain he's dead, only for him to miraculously survive at the tail end of the movie, parallels Dewey's seemingly undeniable death in Scream 2, only for the twist ending where he somehow lived through the assault.
- In Scream (1996), Sidney kills her boyfriend, prompting one of his parents (mother) to return in the subsequent film in an attempt to avenge his death. Likewise, in Scream 2022, Sam (the new main character, a la Sidney) kills her boyfriend, prompting one of his parents (father) to return in the subsequent film in an attempt to avenge his death.
- In Scream 2, Sidney's new boyfriend is a sweet, wholesome innocent character who nevertheless is treated as a suspect but ends up not being a killer. In Scream VI, Sam's new boyfriend is also a sweet, wholesome innocent character who nevertheless is treated as a suspect but ends up not being a killer. The only difference here is that Derek was killed in Scream 2, whereas Sam's boyfriend in Scream VI survived -- thanks, ironically, to Sam making him leave for the final act due to lack of trust, the same issue that caused Sidney to lose Derek in Scream 2.
- In Scream 2, Ghostface calls Gale Weathers but Randy answers her phone. (Also, Ghostface hiding in Gale's newsvan would heavily imply that Gale was the target during that scene, and Randy only ended up getting murdered because, as Mrs. Loomis put it, he "spoke poorly of Billy and I got a little knife happy.") It makes sense, then, that in Scream VI, which again is a parallel of Scream 2, Ghostface once again calls Gale and we finally get a Gale/Ghostface conversation, something that even the killer notes has been a long time coming.
There are several more, but these are a few that I noticed from just one viewing of Scream VI. I'm sure I'll watch it again and notice many more things.
I like how when describing the brutal stabs in Scream 5’s opening, Eric is like, “It made me raise an eyebrow.” 🤣

Kirby was a good character, but the way they used her was utter trash, especially since she had a strong bond with Sydney and should've been the one to take over as main girl, not Billy's illegitimate child. Though a disservice to Wes Craven's legacy was making more Scream films and killing off his favorite character of Dewey.
Scream 5's Ghostface was meant to sound like fan fiction, that's the point. Richie was imitating Stab and his love for the franchise.

Scream has always been a satire that mocks contemporary things in the real world, and movie-obsessed fans, fighting online and everything else 5 pokes fun at is stuff that happens all the time, just like how 4 used the rise of social media as its background.

I think Scream 4 should've been the final Scream film as it tied up the franchise well and actually handled the take on reboots/remakes well. These two films should've been their own franchise, because they feel so distant from what Scream is about. Billy having a daughter isn't unbelievable, but the fact it was with a random girl never seen on film, made it feel less impactful and feel like fanfiction in my opinion.
I mean the newer Scream Movies are what they coined as “Requels” but unlike other Requels they actually continue the story from the whole franchise
Scream 1 tackles slashers in general, Scream 2 sequels, Scream 3 trilogies, Scream 4 Reboots, Scream 5 “Requels”, Scream 6 Franchises
of course they’d also feel different, Wes sadly passed away and it’s not the easiest to copy some guys style.
And for the Billy Daughter… may I remind you we had nothing to tell us Sid had a potential brother besides her mom sleeping around town 💀! Billy was a greasy scumbag so yeah makes sense he’d have a daughter with some chick off screen… just like Sid’s mom 💀

Billy was an unhinged Mama's boy who killed because his father's cheating pushed his mother away, so why would Billy purposefully commit the very thing he hated Sydney's mother for?
@@professorsaltine2795 Scream 5 didn't even do requels right, since it felt half-assed in the movie, like the writers had a specific agenda against certain fans, instead of having nuanced commentary. Yes each movie has a specific topic, but it shouldn't be done so differently, that they no longer feel like they're in the same franchise.

As a massive horror fan The main thing that separates these movies for me is in scream 5 I could tell you the killer in the first 15 minutes but scream 6 actually had a good twist and even tricked me which was suprising I do think 6 was superior but I dont dislike any of these compared to other slasher series which has at the most has 1 to 2 bad movies scream has a pretty good track record

Heavily disagree with a lot of your takes. I mean 1) Kirby is purposefully left up to being alive or not and Wes wanted her to possibly live so letting her live is still letting his memory live on. Scream VI had so much better characters than 5 I'll be honest. Sam's confliction with her bloodline and tendencies is much more interesting, I like how much it has affected her life with it now being in the open and it feels much more subtle than in the 5th film. Tara is also just not at all how you describe her to be in 6. She is not a kid?? She can absolutely look after herself no shit we would be pissed off that her sister isn't allowing her to make her own choices. Chad is much more of a badass and fun character in this movie and interesting to see his development, personally never saw the elderly brother part of that btw.
As for the whole thing with Ghostface being overpowered and the stabbing lethality.... I don't agree with the Ghostface being overpowered but I guess you didn't bring any examples up so... Though stabbings have never been consistent. I'm sorry but you're complaining how Sam was stabbed and got her knife twisted in but don't question how Sidney still survived 4 by miraculous luck when she was on the ground much longer and suffered more than Sam. Though of course Jada dies after a single stab wound nearly just as deep and in the general same area too. Or we could talk about how Dewey was left to bleed out for the entirety of the finale yet miraculously survived because of "scar tissue". We wanna talk about Scream 3? While I see your point with some of these, especially Chad in 5, in 6 most of his stabbings were not even in lethal areas nor seemingly hit in vital parts of the body whilst a lot of the stabbings seemed to not to go too deep. Speaking of? Tara barely got stabbed on the first round and yes she did get a semi-deep wound with Ethan but again comparing it to Gale as if she was fine is so weird to me. She was fucking shot she should not be fine.
Though probably the most annoying criticism I see often with 5 is the stupid height difference. I genuinely can't tell if people just forgot that this was a satirical slasher and that Ghostface is a different body height and shape because he is not supposed to fully represent the person behind the mask. You really think Miss Loomis's slim ass could fit the build of Ghostface much less have the upper body strength to FULL ON SNATCH RANDY INTO THE VAN. Or what bout Roman lets say? Dude is a scronny crybaby who took multiple gunshots multiple times to the chest with a bullet proof and was fine. Roman literally destroys Cotton somehow despite his build and nobody talks about it outside of 5.
Probably the most annoying part of this video to me though is how it perpetuates the "This shits on so and so's legacy" bullshit. You don't know these people, you even got something wrong about Wes's intention in the video. Stop acting like you knew this deceased person to make it seem like your criticism is just so full of passion. You have no clue how they would have gone about writing the movie because again, you're some random on the internet, just like me! Hasn't it been like a year since Scream 5 came out? This is like the second time I'm hearing about Scream 6. And it's a bloody review!
Yeah the 6th Scream got released not too long ago and man it’s doing well at the box office, only a matter of time till 7 is announced and we’ll see what movie topic is challenged next… like they just did Franchise for 6! What’s next 😭
Scream 5 had the better ending and the better ghosface reveal. But Scream 6 was the overall better movie, watching experience and had the better kills and acting.
Also, when I say “Ghostface Reveal” I mean how the actual reveal was executed. I’m not talking about their motivations. The motivations in both of these movies were weak as hell to me.
I think the opening I’m scream 5 was badass and Wes had a pretty pretty gnarly kill scene same with Judy scream 5 was far superior for me I think scream 5 is more brutal In a different way scream 6 had a lot of the off screen stabs scream 5 actually showed the kills but it’s in my opinion

Sam and Tara were reacting to the recent trauma they experienced in different ways. Sam was over protective; Tara was rebellious and taking risks. The “bitchy” side to Tara makes more sense when you’re thinking about how they’re dealing with trauma in different ways.
Very interesting breakdown and very good points. Yes as a whole the films are good but when you dissect them I can see and feel the differences. Simply just that there's no Wes I guess.

We can all admit Mindy is totally the cause of Anika’s death right? I’m still baffled at how Mindy is supposed to be the smartest one of the group with the most horror movie knowledge, yet she tells Sam to crawl the ladder first while her and Anika were the most fatally wounded
True but Sam was making the decisions about everyone's safety at the apartment scene but since Anika was so badly wounded she was basically already dead so I feel like Mindy should have gone 1st then sam then Anika just bc Anika was new to the group she had to be killed so that screen time held up to the audience expectations

1.Kirby's fate was intentionally left ambitious BY WES
2. Dewey was originally gonna din in the first one, Wes only added the final scene of him cuz of the audience demanding it after the test screenings.
3. Dewey and Gale are divorced because they are divorced in real life. Dewey and Gales relationship only happened cuz of their real life romance. Hence 3 adding their marriage like in real life and 5 adding their divorce like in real life

Honestly you two shouldn’t call yourselves toxic at all and honestly there is nothing wrong with the two new sequels, in fact I thought they were not bad, personally I liked Scream 6 a lot better than the 5th one and honestly I don’t think the directors are fans of Rian Johnson I just think there only trying to reference and satirized the way new filmmaking is being produced, and while I may be mixed on Dewey’s death, honestly what’s done is done. Plus I don’t think the 5th film was even woke to begin with, possibly the three ladies in front of the camera was basically supposed to symbolism for the final girl trope, plus wouldn’t you be upset if all three OG scream characters where all killed off in one movie, I mean probably due to bad storytelling. I had to comment this about the Dewey death, I forgot who made a vid about it but they did a vid on who killed who in the Scream franchise and they mentioned how you gotta take out the characters actual height & weight for the Ghostface stuff because if you don’t well it ruins EVERYTHING!
Also for the Dewey not saving Gale I think Gale not being present for Dewey’s death was PERFECT! She never got a chance to say “I love you” or “Goodbye”, heck she couldn’t even be there for comfort him which hits hard imo, imagine you’re in Gale’s position, you never get a chance to comfort someone you loved, never got to properly say goodbye, heck never even said I love you during your last conversation with them… man that’d be a nice thing to see in a Scream movie… oh wait they did that for the 5th & had GF tell her this in the 6th! That aside Scream 6 is leagues better than Scream 5 and just like the rest of the franchise they’re leagues better than Scream 3(not really as all of the movies are a 5/10-10/10)

Well, in Highschool I had a friend get stabbed like 20 times an survived, then I heard of a fatal 100 stab wounds, so it really depends on where your stabbed an how quickly the EMTs can come for help

Personally I think they should've ended with 3, maybe 4 if we're being Generous. 3 completed the story and seemed to cap things off, while 4 somewhat tied things to Sidney again, but these last two films just feel like they are dragging it kicking and screaming. I mean Billy suddenly having a daughter we'd never heard of and we went from the killers either being connected to people from the original Scream, mainly Billy, to crazy fans of the Stab movies? It's just too much. Plus the whole killer over the phone thing worked in the 90s and early 2000s cause caller ID, video phones, the internet and the like were barely a thing at that point so there was a true sense of isolation which helped sell the idea. Now it just doesn't fit as well.

Dewey is my favorite character of the original trio and his death scene Did get me when I saw Scream 5 for the first time. Its almost been an inside joke for how many times Dewey has survived Ghostface stabbings, I genuinely thought watching Scream 2 as a kid that he was going to be killed off for real. But a part of me is glad he got to stick around for 3 more movies..
With that said, I do agree his Death could've been handled better. It only felt written to get Sidney back into the picture. Her one cameo was fine and If it was just the new cast and Dewey and Judy being the 'Legacy characters' that would've been perfect. Its been said, but Sidney and Gale felt shoehorned into the story.

I personally really like the motive in Scream 5 because it's these hardcore fans who are so clingy to a franchise they start killing people to get there way and you can see that with things like Twitter where if you say 1 negative thing about their precious franchise they go berserk

Largely agree, though the motive reveal in part 5 IMO is much worth than just "stupid". It's a direct attack at the fans!
Also part 6 lost me pretty much at the beginning when the female main character completely unnecessarily attacked a man with weapon to a vital area and nobody cared at all, im universe or meta. It ruined the character and the story in just a few seconds. Without that the movie would be OK for me, definitely better than the slap in the face we got before.
Part 5's motive is an attack of Toxic online fans not scream fans in general.
I liked scream 5 and 6 they are enjoyable to watch my issues is with 5 is that the villains sucked when it came to motive and 6 my issues is with the characters plot armor mostly chad for instance should of died but your rating are valid tho

Yep, the Scream movies loved playing with Dewey & Gales real life love story bc well the stars did fall in love IRL 😂, iirc by the time Scream 4 was out like a year or 2 later the real life couple did indeed divorce, funny enough it’s not bc of some malice but bc they had differences just like Gale & Dewey… one liked the small town and one loved the big city… side note the scene of Dewey loving to see Gale on the tv was so heart breaking and sweet at the same time

I don’t know if you were playing Ave Maria in the background or not but you sure as heck were playing a song that was a little bit out of place and kind of distracting. Overall, I do prefer scream six, poor Dewey died in an unsatisfying way, in the sense that they did nothing to earn his death, and he did a disservice to a very nice character. And I’m sorry, but if someone gets shot six times in the chest even with a bulletproof vest, the wind would be knocked out of them, and they pass out for the next three hours. My point is while surviving being stabbed so many times is out rages, even when you wear a bulletproof vest, it doesn’t mean bullets can’t hurt you!!
