The guy just can't catch a break 😆
I just realized that star lord in infinity war is like the kid in class where once he does something really messed up, the teacher punishes EVERYONE for what he did
I respect your opinion, but the Russo Brothers know what they are doing and there is a reason the Airport Battle isn’t very emotionally impactful. During the airport battle nobody wanted to fight each other. Spider-Man is just there because Tony needed a fighter, same with Ant-Man, they’re just there because their favorite heroes asked them to be there (if you notice, they are really the only ones that are constantly saying jokes.) Scarlet Witch was there because of what Tony did to here keeping her in the room. Hawkeye is only there because Cap needed help as well, it is mentioned how he is retired and how he is only there to help Cap. Falcon is there because he is Cap’s friend. Bucky is on the run and Cap is defending him. Vision and War Machine (although he does believe in the Accords) are there because they’re Tony’s friend. Black Widow is just helping Tony out, but as we see later on she actually helps a Cap escape. Tony is just fighting to follow Ross’ orders. The only one that truly wishes to fight is Black Panther, and that is for revenge (his emotions). He is the only one with the intention to kill and he is the only one who doesn’t say much. So the Airport Battle was still a fight among friends, both sides didn’t necessarily want to fight, but given how Ross is a big a-hole, they just wanted to follow orders. Now as you said, the final battle was meant to be the serious one, this one was driven by Tony’s emotions and rage. Unlike at the airport where it is even mentioned by Black Widow that Tony said to go easy on them. This is why the final battle has the more emotional impact unlike the Airport Battle
Exactly! The very point of the battle is that the situation escalates and goes out of hand. Exactly because they still banter in the beginning, the moment when Rhodey gets hurt is so shocking. Plus, it is not meant to be the final battle, it is the end of the second act. You should never use up all your emotional material before the movie is even over.
Spider-Man and and ant man have subliminal meanings for being there, one is Spider-Man has caps colors while being on Tony’s side and ant man has a high tech suit like tony yet on caps side
That’s exactly right. Plus in the battle Falcon said “This isn’t the real fight Steve” practically saying the real fight is yet to come which was between Iron Man, Captain America, and The Winter Soldier.
Wait if Eric Carter ❤ this comment that means he agrees. And actually realizes she made a mistake in this video and maybe you should address it in the comment section or in a future video.

Im sorry but there are so many faults in your understanding of the civil war plot, its almost as if you havent seen the movie at all. For one. Zemo didnt have his plan written down in detail without any room to divert, improvise, adapt or just change. Someone else called him like a chess player which i very much agree with. Rhodey didnt ask Vision to kill Falcon, he litteraly said to "turn him into a glider" and hit his engine. NOT kill him. You also said that they should have made Ross be a lackey to Zemo to make a point about corruption within governments which i strongly disagree with. It doesnt fit Ross's character and i think him just being Secretary of State makes that point. Just a bit more subtle.
Ross also was never meant to be a good guy. Hulk wasn't present to reveal to the avengers that Ross was evil. He must have done cover up because even as we see in Spider-man Homecoming that the public blames the hulk for the destruction in harlem. Not Ross. Its very subtle but it shows that tonys trust in the government is faulty just like Cap said it was.
Great review but one flaw I noticed is that you thought that Rhodey ordered vision to disintegrate Sam but he said aim for his pack so it would only disable him, not kill him because he has a parachute.
An amazing video, as always. I will say this about your synopsis about Civil War: 1) the accords, while they might have been impacted by the Wanda incident, were likely in the works long beforehand, as the mainline Avengers are approached with most countries having already signed. 2) it’s clear that you side with Captain America heavily, and while I personally do as well, you portray the conflict rather flatly in Steve Rogers’ favor, when I find the conflict is far more nuanced. Again, fantastic video as always. Your comparison videos are always well written and amazing to watch
I feel like infinity wars simple story is better than the complicated story of civil war. Instead of focusing on either the story or bucky or the story of the accords and combines them all together. Also if zemo wasn't there, it would make much more sense and the team would have broken up because of different ideologies rather than just one mastermind.
More or less everything you said about Civil War...wow, just wow. Have you even WATCHED the movie? The two groups in Civil War don't just fight because they think that either Tony or Steve is right, each of them has their own reason to pick a side. No-one on Team Tony is there because they just follow Tony's opinion (except Spider-Man, but he is young and star struck and has no idea what the conflict is even about), Rhodey is there because he honestly believes in Oversight, Vision is there because he thinks it is a logic proposal, Black Widow doesn't even believe in the Accords or Tony but thinks that the path of low resistance is the best way to fix the situation and Black Panther just wants his revenge. Also, NO, Zemo did not plan all this to happen. Honestly, why are so many people missing this? The very first thing the movie establishes regarding Zemo is that he is always adapting his plan to what is happening. He is like a chess player who plans multiple moves in advance, and if something doesn't work out as planned, well, then he just changes has approach.
What do you mean Thanos and Kilmonger were the best villains in the mcu. The best villain in the entire mcu is... *tension rising* ...... Getting there. Getting closer ... ... Not quite there yet Gray guy from thor the dark world. (Hes so good that I dont remember his name. I remember Thanos and Kilmongers real name. Kilmonger(N'Jadaka) Thanos(Thanos).
Eric Carter, honestly, I hate the Star Wars origin movies, because of how pointless they are. (Not the prequels, I mean movies like Rouge One, and recently, Solo.
Eric Carter Plus, I downright despise The Last Jedi, especially when you mentioned the bunch of MatPats that is Lucasfilm's recent "convincing" reasons for our completely justified complaints. Plus, your review and vs video of this movie now makes me loaf it.
your analysis of Zemo's plan is flawed, because he only needs to expose the fact that WS is the murderer of Tony's parents to cause a fracture within the team. His end goal is to dismember the Avengers, and he succeeded, them fighting each other is only the icing.
If you think about it, the fact that several sequels have been announced just adds to the ending. Despite knowing that the characters will come back, we are still devastated by their demise, showing how damn powerful that ending is.
The thing that really diminished Thanos in my eyes was his whoe environmental whacko message, they could have done Lady Death without making her a big deal but making Thanos' motivation much more palpable.
Agreed that Zemo had a lot of plot inconsistencies. The only problem with your alternate Zemo theory, while very interesting and structurally superior, is that it would have required setup in a previous film.
James Spader is a FANTASTIC actor. And I was so excited when they cast him. The trailers made him look scary and intimidating. And in the movie he started off that way, but then very quickly as the movie went on he just didn't nothing but joke and that's when he started to suck in my opinion. Joss Whedon just doesn't know when to stop incorporating jokes into his films. Thankfully Thanos does not suffer from the same mistakes.
Winston Shih I don't have a problem with Ultron, I think he's great and I'm glad that he had both a great sense of humor and could also be threatening, but hey that's just me.
Robert Savageau why needlessly change a character's personality. Ultron in MCU could have been as brutal as Thanos and be as great as Heath ledger joker
Tony Starks point was that the accords could be amended in time to come and that he was just using it as a stop-gap solution for the public outcry. Edit: After watching the entire video, I have become team cap lol wtf
Thanos fixed a lot of what they messed up in age of Ultron, Ultron was a cool villain but killed off in one movie. Thanos is basically the type of character that won't start fights but will finish them if he has to with little regard of the damage he may inflict.
12:23 Rody didn't want to kill Falcon, he merely told Vision to shut down the power and electricity of his suit, and therefore turn him into a glider but not a free fall, but when it hit him, he had nothing to glide on, he was a big chunk of metal miles in the sky, where else do you think he's gonna go?
This was a FANTASTICly done review. But: Civil War has “better” action = more entertaining action. I can almost remember every single punch thrown. It is just marvelous comic book action, as it should be. Comic book fights among heroes were ALWAYS a fun even when the occasion was rather serious. This isnt star wars.
I'm with you on the fact that I never thought Marvel would pull ahead of Star Wars, but after the shit the Last Jedi was I know clearly see why Marvel is and probably always will be superior. Well, at least while the assholes at Lucasfilm are still in charge.
spoiler alert for avenegers 4 Directors said that only 2 original avengers are surviing avengers 4 (probably thor and black widow or hawkeye, they didnt wanted to say who obv)
The whole first half of vid is so wrong. So so wrong. 1. Ross was just the guy giving and explaining the accords, the whole U.N. was going to be in charge of the avengers, not ross. 2. Zimo was planning on destroying the avengers before the accords was announced. He has a plan. Part of it failed when he could not get the mission report. So he framed bucky, took the psychiatrist's spot, and got the debriefing for the location from him. 3. Zimo's plan did not hinge on the accords. It's just when he hears about it he adapts his plan. 4. It was zimo's plan was to get iron man there. Of course iron man would doubt Steve's story. He thought it was conflict of interest that Steve was protecting Bucky, but when shown proof, him showing up showed that he believed Steve. It was zimo's plan. 4 1/2. Yes Ross is hypocritical, but that's not relevant. 5. And easy when you speak, I feel out of breathe just listening to you at some parts . Zimo's plan fails at some points. But like the joker in dark knight, his back-up plans have backups. Your first have vid was so bad I couldn't even make myself watch the second half
The explosion at the beginning of civil war wasnt the reason for the accords. It was ultron. According to your logic this is what happened Ultron: *lifts a city in the air with the plan of causing humanities extinction* UN: no problem here Scarlet which: *accidently explodes a building after some guy activated the suicide vest* UN: WHOAH slow down their buckaroo, we dont want to put anyone in danger.
8:27 because Ross is actually a bad guy, if he turns out to be bad it all makes perfect sense! He’s been talking with Zemo and he secretly worked him self up to a higher class to cover up his previous actions with the abomination by setting forth with the accords to make him hide in plain sight! Civil war not flawed no more simple
Ya know Marvel's gonna end up like Star Wars no matter how amazing they are now. Cause in the word of Captain America "People have agendas and agendas change."
Brilliant video, while I disagree with one or two small points I enjoyed your whole presentation. One of the best things about the video is how you incorporated the incredible music from both movies so well
8:05 I mean can’t you say the same for the jokers plan in TDK though? It was also very specific and there is no way he would be able to know if his plan would workout.
8:05 I know that zemos plan is very specific but isn’t it the same for the joker from the dark knight? I’m not sure I haven’t watched the dark knight yet but I heard that some people thought jokers plan was to specific.
That was until Captain Marvel became 2019's The Last Jedi. Where it uses heavy-handed feminism and shoves it down our throats and ALSO throws any semblance of the established universe out the window. So stupid. I'm utterly SICK of this trend.
Its only one Marvel film though, we can only hope Feige doesn't listen to Brie Larson when making the sequel so it actually has a chance of being a decent movie.
realar On the bright side, it’s not a mainline or even remotely important movie. If feige and co catch onto how shit her character is they can do a complete 180 with it mattering little as her movie didn’t really change anything in the mcu.
Thor's new weapon, stormbreaker, was able to put Thanos down HARD with a blast of intense lightning, then take the full amount of all 6 infinity stones and almost fatally wound him. He should have cut off his left arm, then he could have stop the snappening and still tell Thanos "I told you you'd die for that" without loosing half the universe, he could have also shown up before vision bit the dust TWICE. Stormbreaker puts Thor's old Hammer to shame. "A King's Weapon, meant to be the best in Asgard"
Can't agree. Zemo had no intention of causing the airport fight or even the fight between cap and Tony. The team was always going to break apart once they found out Cap was hiding such vital information. Them physically fighting was just a bonus for Zemo. He was always knew someone would kill him, just wanted to show them their leader was flawed
I remember back in 2016 in 3rd grade at recess me and my friends tried to pretend fight each other civil war style, we picked characters from both teams and we went on the team the character was on. The teachers saw us and told us to stop because playing scenes from a movie is evil and we are all precious little sensitive children. But, it was fun and I miss my friends from back then.
Nice video! I agreed with all of your points. Your points made in this video actually made me realize Civil Wars' flaws. I never realized that Zemo created his plan before the accords were issued but yet somehow, he knew Iron Man was going to show up so he used the footage of the death of his parents to trigger him. I also liked how at the end, you sort of compared Infinity War to The Last Jedi as well as giving Justice League a new score!
Star Lord didnt screw anything up. Dr Starnge knew this would happen. He said out of all the possible outcome he saw they won 1 of them. If Star Lord screwed things up Dr Strange wouldve gone back in time and stopped him. That's also why he gave Thanos the stone to save Iron Man. He knew Iron Man is going to be a key part in stopping Thanos in Avengers 4. So if they got the Gauntlet off that wouldve screwed things up. Spider Man almost screwed thing up because he had the gauntlet off put Thanos caught it with the tip of his fingers because Star Lord punched Thanos causing Mantis to stumble back and let go of Thanos which cause Thanos to snap back into reality getting the gauntlet. Because if that messed things up Dr Strange would have fixed it immediately.
I get your point about the plot contrivences in civil war but how do you know he didn't have a back up plan? Like we are following one strain of his plan
I agree with you! While Infinity War is more of an event than a movie, Civil War has a flawed-but-good story. The former was not without some plot holes, but it was not as bad as the latter. How COULD Zemo have anticipated the arrival of Stark at the base, and know everything about Bucky? Speaking of Tony, aside from General Ross, he’s the REAL villain in CW, because of his super-sized ego, even when Cap is willing to forgive him. If only the CW battle scene could’ve had a better tone, it could have established higher stakes, but we were once again cheated. I did not feel cheated by Infinity War because, despite the humor (including a few jokes that didn’t quite work like Giant Peter Dinklage), it still felt more like a Greek tragedy from minute one, and even if we don’t believe all the characters are dead at the end, some (like Tom Holland) really sell their deaths, and as far as we know the villain wins! And Josh Brolin really does sell Thanos, making him the best Marvel villain, hands down!!!
Snehil Shrey plot convenience yeah, that’s what I meant. Also, just how stupid is everyone in the world in CW to believe Bucky bombed the UN when he’s nowhere near there??
Kail Kilbourne Zemo had managed to decode the HYDRA information on the net and elsewhere (when Black Widow uploaded all the data in the internet in The Winter Soldier) hence his immense knowledge about Bucky and other events.
If I'm being completely honest, u might be my favorite UA-camr when it comes to movie reviews. U might even be in my top 5 or even top 3 favorite UA-camr ever.
My other favorites include you, Diamondbolt, GameCubedude200, Fawful's Minion, Adam/Skydoesminecraft, Reflux, quiteamazing, phantomstrider and Anime America. In fact, you remind me a lot of Diamondbolt.
Zemo could've befriended the Avengers and tried to stop Ross from forcing them to sign the accords. After Ross gives up, Zemo plays the tape and yeah. Tony gets mad and the Avengers defeat Zemo
One thing I love about your versus series is that the music in background just fits so much with how fast u are talking and how u are talking finally a reviewer that have kept me to not turn a 25 minute video down after 3 minutes
Thanks very much for the kind words buddy. :) I work very hard on my videos and I spend A LOT of time and work planning which music I will be using. I'm glad that the work has payed off :)
Marvel in 2008 : yeah hulk's love interest is betty ross Edward nottin : yes Marvel in 2015 : hulk's love interest is black widow Mark Ruffalo: yes Betty: HEY! Me : 👏😑 wow, marvel wow
Eric, the end fight was meant to be the tragic fight. In the airport fight, the heroes were not trying to hurt or kill each other. That is why it had a fun tone and not a tragic one
Sorry if I am wrong but at 13:26 you said Rodey was a backstabber but I’m pretty sure he said ‘turn him into a glider’ and had no intention to kill. I haven’t seen it in a while so I could be incorrect.
Oh, I’m sorry. I agree with the rest of the review, but are we talking about the same Star-Lord? The one who ventilated his own dad when he learned that he killed his Mom. This is very consistent with his character as a very flawed human being. Yeah, I expected him to start force feeding him blaster shots, but it’s still very IC. He lost his Mom, he learned that his Mom was murdered by his real dad and watched his adoptive/kidnapping father die in front of him just as they were making more of a bond? Now he learned that someone he loves and cares about was killed by the monster who wants to destroy half the universe. What did you think was going to happen!? He was going to start dancing to a song!? No, this moment is consistent, Quill is a flawed and an emotionally damaged person, from both watching his mother died as a child and being abducted and ‘raised’ by Yondu. True, not as damaged as Gamora, but he was still pretty damaged.
Basically, Zemo's whole plan was to get Tony to see the video of the crash, and yeah just go from there. It is pretty clear that Tony is a bit more emotional of a guy, so that probably played into it. We could also assume that Zemo had multiple plans, and that's from the fact that his plan was very specific. Also a lot of other things, but that's what really annoyed me during this. There were some other things that have been said a lot already in the comments, so I'll just leave it at that. I respect your opinion though.
12:33 I know I’m 3 years late, but I just want to say that I’ve seen someone explain this and it makes complete sense when you watch that fight scene again Out of all the characters, Iron Man, Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther are the most serious and that is because there connection to the story is personal where as everyone else’s connection are impersonal, that’s why everyone aside from the people I just mentioned crack jokes, because this isn’t as personal to them as Stark, Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther
I respectfully disagree with your conclusions regarding Civil War. Strip away your personal feelings for this character or that, the bottom line is that Captain America got played by Zemo. The crushing realization hits Cap when he finally sees Zemo through the blast window in Siberia and Zemo tells him that he studied him but now that he's close, he sees that Cap's eyes aren't entirely blue. He goes on to say how nice it is to find a flaw. The point is, Zemo knew how Cap would react when a situation involved his friend Bucky, the last link he had to the world he knew. Cap was reckless. If he had just stood down in that moment at the airport in Germany and they had waited things out, they would have discovered the dead psychologist and the prosthetic mask, linking the Zemo and not Bucky to the crimes committed. But Steve would not, could not wait, so convinced he was of his sense of "right" about the situation. Why do you think he gives up the shield at the end when Tony demands it? He realized that he got played and that he can no longer trust himself, not just government organizations or people he's been teamed up with for some time.
Eric Carter if I'm being honest I really believe that Thanos was the weak part of the movie infinity war because at least in the comics he had a demented reason for why he wanted to wipe out half the universe. And that reason was to show Lady Death how much he cared for her. That was his motivation plain and simple.

He is like a chess player who plans multiple moves in advance, and if something doesn't work out as planned, well, then he just changes has approach.
swanpride ikr?! I've been telling people for a long time and there still saying Zemo's plan dosen't make sense

Lol good one.
What about Zemo he was good
Kieron Campion exactly
Zemo was adopting his plan, of course, like all great planers...
your analysis of Zemo's plan is flawed, because he only needs to expose the fact that WS is the murderer of Tony's parents to cause a fracture within the team. His end goal is to dismember the Avengers, and he succeeded, them fighting each other is only the icing.
i agree team cap all the way
@Ankita Nair team my mum
Team Batman
If you think about it, the fact that several sequels have been announced just adds to the ending. Despite knowing that the characters will come back, we are still devastated by their demise, showing how damn powerful that ending is.
What an amazing review!!! This was definitely worth the wait. The production quality is off the scale!! Can't wait to see more.

Yes. I just watched Jurassic World 2 today. Am gonna watch the first movie tomorrow and get to work on the script.
Eric Carter Thank you.
No problem. 😊
Is Jurassic World 2 good?
It's good but there are a lot of issues. I will elaborate in my versus video.
WOW. I have never thought about these movies like this!! Thanks

7:43 The music from Gamora’s death suits the airport battle pefectly
What do you mean Thanos is the only good CGI MCU Villain?!, there's also Ultron voiced by James Fuckin Spader!
Eric Carter Well I love both Ultron and Thanos.
Robert Savageau James Spader was forced to ruin Ultron by his good performance of bad interpretation of Ultron
Winner
Winter soldier
24:48 that statement aged like milk
Tony Starks point was that the accords could be amended in time to come and that he was just using it as a stop-gap solution for the public outcry.
Edit: After watching the entire video, I have become team cap lol wtf
Ultimate winner: Russo Bros.
Rhodey and sam would’ve fell all the way down
24:42 that didn’t age very well

This was a FANTASTICly done review.
But: Civil War has “better” action = more entertaining action. I can almost remember every single punch thrown. It is just marvelous comic book action, as it should be. Comic book fights among heroes were ALWAYS a fun even when the occasion was rather serious. This isnt star wars.

I'm with you on the fact that I never thought Marvel would pull ahead of Star Wars, but after the shit the Last Jedi was I know clearly see why Marvel is and probably always will be superior. Well, at least while the assholes at Lucasfilm are still in charge.
This is the best vs video I've ever watched I'm subscribing
Edit: also love the theme at the beginning
I expect the characters that lived in Infinity war die in Avengers 4
spoiler alert for avenegers 4

Even Rocket?

Brilliant video especially the comments at the end. And you perfectly described my feelings about the action the Russo's managed.
I like Infinity War more than Empire Strikes Back. This is just my opinion if you disagree that's fine
It definitely fits as Russos' Empire. Brilliantly so. Civil War is their New Hope.
And Endgame is basically Return of the Jedi, is it?
I like civil war because it explored different themes, and it showed the realistic side of what would happen if there were super heroes.
The explosion at the beginning of civil war wasnt the reason for the accords. It was ultron. According to your logic this is what happened
Ultron: *lifts a city in the air with the plan of causing humanities extinction*
UN: no problem here
Scarlet which: *accidently explodes a building after some guy activated the suicide vest*
UN: WHOAH slow down their buckaroo, we dont want to put anyone in danger.
These videos to me are just so enjoyable keep up the great work Eric.
Dude general Ross was a different character I’m pretty sure
Great video man. Your my favourite youtuber of all time. Keep up the great work
Thanks so much for the kind words buddy. :D
Ya know Marvel's gonna end up like Star Wars no matter how amazing they are now. Cause in the word of Captain America "People have agendas and agendas change."
never clicked so fast
Brilliant video, while I disagree with one or two small points I enjoyed your whole presentation. One of the best things about the video is how you incorporated the incredible music from both movies so well
I honestly think that Civil War should have been an avengers film not a Captain America film
If feige and co catch onto how shit her character is they can do a complete 180 with it mattering little as her movie didn’t really change anything in the mcu.
eh...wasn't that big or controversial 'enough' to be like last jedi also how did it go against the established universe
Yes you're back!!!!!!!!! So happy to see you back!!!!!!
CIVIL WAR:SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT

What if Ross was replaced with Coulson?
That would make us join Iron Man team.
I'd choose Civil War over Infinity War any day. Don't get me wrong I STILL LOVE INFINITY WAR!!!
25:10 Because Kevin Feige knows how to portray female characters...
Captain Marvel: hold my beer
I get your point about the plot contrivences in civil war but how do you know he didn't have a back up plan? Like we are following one strain of his plan
11:20 I like that when you talk about the Dr. Strange vs Thanos fight the music from that scene appears
0:12 best intro ever
I like Civil War a little bit more than infinity war
Fruity Fruit same
Same here. I also find it more rewatchable.
i disagree .civil war kills that sorry excuse for an avengers movie
Snehil Shrey true dat.
Kail Kilbourne Zemo had managed to decode the HYDRA information on the net and elsewhere (when Black Widow uploaded all the data in the internet in The Winter Soldier) hence his immense knowledge about Bucky and other events.
Kail Kilbourne knowing everything about bucky was easy. Tony was definitely at fault they made that clear.

Warmachine Said: turn him into a glider. So Rhodes knew falcon wouldn't die. Atleast he thought he wouldn't
Eric, the end fight was meant to be the tragic fight. In the airport fight, the heroes were not trying to hurt or kill each other. That is why it had a fun tone and not a tragic one
I would’ve loved civil war if it had more tension, but the lack of real tension throughout a majority of the movie made it good but not great
My favorite seens in the mcu I love the end of civil war and and on Titan those two fights maid you lose hope
I’m so glad to see a fellow team capper
12:33 I know I’m 3 years late, but I just want to say that I’ve seen someone explain this and it makes complete sense when you watch that fight scene again
Out of all the characters, Iron Man, Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther are the most serious and that is because there connection to the story is personal where as everyone else’s connection are impersonal, that’s why everyone aside from the people I just mentioned crack jokes, because this isn’t as personal to them as Stark, Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther
Excellent analysis.
Eric Carter if I'm being honest I really believe that Thanos was the weak part of the movie infinity war because at least in the comics he had a demented reason for why he wanted to wipe out half the universe. And that reason was to show Lady Death how much he cared for her. That was his motivation plain and simple.
Infinity war had way better fighting scenes and the story had way more connections and the story was better in almost every way
Syed I agree
that last statement about marvel didn't age well
