    Viking was my first Creed purchase, with my other being Royal Oud. You hit the nail on the head! Both a gentlemanly fragrances, and they hit a sweet spot that has been missing in recent fragrance trends. Wearable modern, yet classic, clearly masculine fragrances. As always, great review!

    Viking is my favorite fragrance (followed by Virgin Island Water). In my opinion, it is a Masterpiece.
    I always dig your descriptions of fragrances. You’re dead on buddy👊🏽
    Similar to a great aftertaste of a dish, the Pink Pepper & Peppermint seems to have ongoing slight delay to my nose and then it hits!! WoW…the icy/hot sensation of those 2 notes are REALLY intoxicating!!

    Since the first time I smelled Viking I loved it... Land then I found a bottle at good price and I pulled the trigger...I live it still more now. To me it's kind of a modern barbshop...classic but modern at the same time. Thank you for your great take on it.

    Viking is my favourite Creed, and I've smelled a lot of Creeds including Irish Tweed and Aventus. It fits perfectly for the fall time we get here in Scandinavia, with the crisp cool air and the remaining warmth of summer, it doesn't feel out of place as a casual daily scent. I feel Viking is much more sophisticated and deep than people give it credit for, when you don't just judge it for the top notes, and try it over different seasons. The only bad thing I can say is the name Viking, I think they missed out on the opportunity to name it: Fire and Ice, and ride on the popularity of Game of Thrones. It's also a lot cheaper now if you dig a little, I can find the 100 ml for $260 here in Europe.

    OUTSTANDING REVIEW!!! I smelled Viking for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I wasn’t really feeling it. I had a chance to get it in a trade. Got it in the mail yesterday. This is really a great fragrance. I just didn’t give it a chance the first time I wore it. I can definitely see this as a daily frag.

    I actually got my original fabric Creed sample super late. I like Viking - it brings me back to 90's. What I definitely do not detect here is even a single trace of mint though.

  • @Kenoji8
    @Kenoji8 4 роки тому

    Glad you could set the record straight, Marc, and glad you went after this fragrance and do it justice. I've only smelled a clone of this fragrance and that clone was STELLAR with the mint presentation, but I'm curious about the genuine article so I think this video helped me settle on a sample and to finally start delving a bit more into the house of Creed. I was always kind of off-put by the retail pricing of these higher end niche houses, but discounters (like FragranceX) offer very solid deals on these scents, taking the retail price down almost a full $100-120, so that is quite a bargain for the wallet. I'm glad you enjoyed this and I shall follow suit with a sample of my own. You're always the nose that knows and your viewpoints and experience shine in every test drive and review. Keep being awesome, Marc. :)

    Marc, once again, 99% agree with you: many reviewers are dead to me now because they could not develop their own opinion and followed the negative hype :( Very strong masculine rose note in this one (similar to Windsor).

    The first time I wore this fragrance I received a compliment. I wasn't sure about it, I was on the fence about paying retail for something I liked but didn't love. I think it was the menthol/eucalyptus vibe that was getting. After wearing it for about a year, it's my second favorite Creed behind Jardin d'Amalfi.

  • @timothys9288

    I said (and fought opinion wars) on the Basenotes forum in 2017 that Viking would eventually become a revered scent in time. People called me names (that's how crazy the hate was). I stood practically alone with only a couple of others against the Viking hate mob.
    I totally.understand why Robes08 waited to "delve into this one".
    Viking is Creed's most complex scent. People have opinions all over the map comparing it to Oriental Spicy's, Fougeres, Woody's, Minty frags, etc. The scent changes and morphs throughout a wearing. Hence, why I think it gets compared to so many different scent profiles. It's, IMO, a masterpiece.

    I had a 5ml sample of Viking. I was surprised at how good it was after hearing so much negativity about it. TBH, I think Creed's price increases have negatively impacted how their scents are received. They're nice scents but they aren't worth the money that Creed charges.

    I had a chance to smell the Viking few years ago and I found it confusing. Not that it would smell bad, but when I saw the name, I was expecting something more rough and masculine, like a smell of a Viking ship - wet wood, sea salt, seaweed, etc.

    When the Vikings first came to England they introduced the English to cleanliness, as they regularly washed themselves & their clothes & combed & styled their hair & the English didn't. They were also extremely polite & well mannered, whereas the English were actually the ones who were rough & ready. Because of this the English women were swooned off their feet & many married the Vikings. It is believed that the tales of rape & pillage were invented by the aggrieved Englishmen who were seeing their women run off with the suave & sophisticated Vikings. The Vikings were actually the original GENTLEMEN!
