  • #Homemade #dessert recipe of crispy filo stuffed with a creamy mixture and drenched with a fragrant syrup. I have simplified the #recipe for you and the end result is so worth it. Below is what you need👇
    Note From Rouba 🥰
    If you don't make these often and want to make sure your Ashta filling does not ooze out while frying, use 2 sheets across as well as 2 sheets lengthways.
    Ingredients
    200 grams ricotta (full cream)
    ½ cup cream
    1 tablespoon icing sugar
    2 tablespoon rosewater
    10-12 sheets of filo pastry ( a few extra - See Rouba's Notes Above)
    For The Sugar Syrup
    3 cups of sugar
    1½ cup of water
    1 teaspoon lemon juice
    1 tablespoon rose water

    About This Channel
    Hi, my name is Rouba - welcome to My Food Journey!
    I'm not a chef, I'm a self-taught home cook. What I love most about Middle Eastern cuisine is how forgiving and rustic it is, so you don't have to be an expert to make something delicious! Here on my channel, I’ll show you how easy it can be to whip up a delicious Middle Eastern meal at home using just a handful of ingredients that you already have in your fridge or pantry. You can also find all of my recipes with step-by-step guides on my website: roubashahin.com.au/middle-eas...

    When I was a child we had a family from Palestine as neighbors. The mother was very kind to us, she shared with us a variety of pastries, food and bread. This particular dessert, the Znoud El Sit was my favorite. I feel lucky to have met them and had that culinary experience. This video brings back beautiful and delicious memories.

    Hi Rouba!
    Thank you so much for your recipe. I've seen so many that make a 'custard' style filling and thought yours looked more authentic.
    I followed your recipe to a tee and I'm not sure what I did but the mix was soooo runny so I had to go buy more ricotta! Anyway, I used spring roll wrappers and apparently my Lebanese son in law said they tasted even better than the Sydney bakeries! Haha ❣️ I'll take that!!! 😄 I'll just be making Znoud for the rest of the week with all the extra filling. Anyone want to come over for coffee? 😄
    Thanks again 😋😘😋😘😋😘

      Well it's great to hear your family loved them! Yay! In regards to the mix being runny, did you use watery ricotta? I only use the one from the deli section not out of the tubs. Thank you so much for your feedback. this is very valuable for me as I can share it with everyone else. xx

      @@RoubasFoodJourney I used the 1kg ricotta in the green strainer/shrink wrapped. I left it to strain and just can't figure out what I'd done 🤷‍♀️ But a quick trip to Woolies and crisis averted hehe they were so amazing in the end which is all that matters. Thanks for replying Rouba! 😘😘😘

      Yes absolutely!!! but just make sure they are covered with a tea towel and in an airtight container as I show you in the video. Fry and dip in the sugar syrup just before serving 👌

      You can definitely try it with a sweet cream store bought one. It may be a slightly different texture though. the homemade one is super simple to make too.

    Can we bake them instead of frying?

    • @RoubasFoodJourney
      @RoubasFoodJourney  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can, you will need to paste them with butter or ghee first

    How do you store it and keep it crispy for days?

    • @RoubasFoodJourney
      @RoubasFoodJourney  3 роки тому +1

      the most important thing is not to cover them with a plastic wrap. Put a napkin or paper towel over them and place in the fridge. They will never be as crispy as when you first fry them but this will prevent them from becoming soggy and soft. Hope that helps

    The way you’re saying rosewater it sounds like you’re saying rice water. If I wasn’t from the least I would’ve thought you’re putting rice water.
