Lance Travel Trailer 2020 Tour. Are They Better Quality?

  • Today I take a look at the Lance travel Trailer 2465 and look at the difference in quality you can see. I don't often see used Lance travel trailers for sale which makes me think people hold on to them for a long time. I do have to say there is a difference in quality you can see as you go through them but the question you have to ask is does it fit what you need and does it fit the budget. Is the increased quality enough to justify the increase in price?

    I spent 2+ years researching and looking for a camper.
    I purchased a Lance 2020 model 2185 in Sept.
    We all learned buying a home is location, location, location.
    Buying a RV is quality , quality, quality and Lance builds quality.
    I’m VERY happy with my Lance.

    Thanks. We bought a 2019 Lance 2375, the next size down than this model in Vid., March 2019. It is a joy. Quality you see for sure. Azdel saves $$ in the end. We love the trailer. Tires, suspension, 3 -5gal propane tanks in front, good insulation and 4 Season trailer.

      Update on my trailer in the shop/dealers for repairs. I'm pretty upset that even though we paid several thousand more for an extended warrenty, we will have to pay for the dealer for resealing the front fixed curved window and the the shower skylight. The trailer is less than TWO YEARS OLD!

    They do make a quality towable trailer for sure. We looked at them very closely earlier this year and we were impressed. However, based on cost, features, quality of build, and our desired layout, we chose a Northwoods Nash 24M that we could tow with our RAM 1500 Ecodiesel. It’s working out very well and it’s made in our home state. Win-win! Keep up the great reviews Jared!

    I have a 2017 1685 that I bought used/like new really... that I installed 3 battle borne batteries and Victron Multiplus 3000 watt Inverter under the the bed, it is a big storage compartment, and 3 175 watt solar panels on the roof. I did a 2 week shake down trip boondocking up in Wisconsin August 2023 and it did great. Minus me needing to figure out how to secure gear better bouncing down Forestry roads.. lol. I used a Honda 2200 to recharge the batteries since the National Forest campgrounds were shady... But the build quality is very nice, it is my first camper so I don't have anything to compare it to.. but I am glad I chose Lance. 45 gallon tanks, fresh, grey and black. If the fresh water started getting low I got a collapsible wagon and 2 5 gallon buckets, went to the well and pumped... strolled back to the camp site used a funnel and poured the water in. After a week at Day Lake, I found a dump site, did that and topped off the fresh water tank, and drove North to Birch Grove. Stayed there for 4-5 days, hit the same dump station that charged 5 dollars, and drove to a storage facility.

    I enjoyed your review of the 2020 Lance travel trailer. We have a 2012 model 2285 that we bought used in 2013. It now has more than 40,000 miles on it. In 2018 we lived in it for about four months while we traveled to Alaska and back to home on Texas. I figure we’ve spent the equivalent of about 2 years on the road in it. Great trailer. Solidly built. We’ve upgraded a few things including building drawers under dinette benches an installing forward self adjusting brakes.

    Solid walls, no hollows, porcelain toilet, independent suspension, quality Goodyear trailer tires, remote control everything, walkable roof, solar ready, storage, storage, storage. Truly a 4 season trailer. Well thought layouts, full referigerator, stove with oven, easy access to owner maintenance items. More expensive than our old unit, but we intend to use this Lance extensively over the next 10 years, so well worth the upfront cost.

  • @jacktyler7599
    @jacktyler7599 4 роки тому

    Jared, you did well what is typically difficult to accomplish: Showing where that extra cost for a Lance is located. We've had our Lance trailer up to Canada this year and also down to Arizona. Some of the road conditions have been atrocious. It's amazing to me that not a single screw has backed out or system failed; the Lance has taken it all in stride despite it's light'ish weight. They have used CAD/CAM technology for over a decade now. It shows. And applause for Affinity RV. While camping in the Prescott NF we took advantage of their free dump station, open 24/7. An unexpected treat!

      Personal opinion is just that, personal, but I couldn’t agree more with you about FR! We have an FR 30RLT 5th wheel that is only 18 months since we bought it. Life got in our way and it sat in the driveway for just over a year before we could get it on the road, the warranty period is one year. I’m not going to detail the problems we’ve had here, but, this 5th wheel rv has all of the structural strength of paper machete! It has all the cosmetic appeal we wanted, but, detail design, construction, and quality control are junk. When I referred to ‘detail design’, I’m referring to structural design, strength of materials, load bearing properties. Unless I’m asked otherwise, I’m not going to detail my problems we’ve encountered, but, I can promise that ForestRiver products will never get another penny out of my pocket!

      I think I have a travel trailer twin. Honestly, I love the Lance trailer, had nailed it down 99%. Then took a trip to Yuma and saw an Arctic Fox 25W on a warm day. Nice, taller and wider than the Lance which were negatives for me. Went and took a 457th look at the Lance 2375 which we liked. Thought I was going to cook. Only looked at them in San Diego on comfortable days. I now suggest people go trailer shopping on HOT or COLD days to get an idea of the trailer. Then ended up buying and Arctic Fox 25Y. Have ot taken delivery yet but..... I do love the Lance fit and finish. but nothing we looked at compared for insulation to the AF. Just my opinion.

    • @danbrophy3785
      @danbrophy3785 4 роки тому +1

      Glen Burford - Hello RV twin. Haha. Yeah, I had negotiated pricing on the Lance then while at a RV show, an Arctic Fox (truck camper only) dealer suggested I look at AF. I did, and had the same concerns you had with the size of the Lance compared to the AF. Before long I bought the 25Y. This was March 2016. We love it. Haven’t had a problem I couldn’t fix myself, same as being a home owner. If there is anything I can help you with, let me know.

    • @GlenBurford4lbrty
      @GlenBurford4lbrty 4 роки тому +1

      @@danbrophy3785 I actually prefer the smaller profile and weight of the Lance however, wife and I are considering a couple years on the road Continental and Alaska (have not figured out how to het if to Hawaii :) ) and the insulation is stellar. Would prefer not towing the extra ~2500 pound GVW of the AF but there are trade offs in everything.
      I am totally impressed with their build. Have an engineer friend who is shopping 5th wheel. Looking at Grand Design and KZ. I think he is changing his mind.

      @Spazza42 4 роки тому

      Glen Burford Some good advice there! Whilst I agree fit and finish is important, insulation is key here, especially for people who intend to travel long term or live on the road - which has become more common nowadays too...
      Fit and finish wouldn’t be everything for me, you could put a custom request in to have an unfurnished trailer or RV and make/get the furniture yourself.
      I know for me that’s how I’d do it, but the only reason I’d get an RV in the first place is to live on the road for 5 years to experience other things

Glass shower panel shattering, front window leaking. We removed the window cornices and it exposed the gaps between the window frame and wall. The left over screws and pieces of wires left over. I’m sure it wouldn’t matter what manufacturer you have they all have their issues with quality.... and the worse their Carefree Latitude awning... absolutely the worse

      We tow our Lance 2185 with our 2014 Sequoia. Our tow capacity is 7400 the trailer weights in at 6000 loaded 4500 unloaded is exactly 25 feet. 3 bunks in the back big enough for me and I'm 6'3". We love it so far.

      Not all of it. The foot of the bed slides in under the drawers where the tv is.

    Love the Lance. Too bad they don't use a 12V compressor fridge.
    But would be afraid of any dealer that sells Grand Design that promotes their R Values...........snake oil salesmen. If they mislead you on one point what else are they smoozing about?

    So in your opinion with a Jayco and a Lance what would be a better travel trailer?

    • @johnhines3591
      @johnhines3591 4 роки тому +3

      In my opinion,
      Jayco is more an entry level trailer.
      Aritic Fox & Lance & Grand Design are a step up on quality & fit & finish
      We were looking at Arctic Fox, but to heavy. Then we found Lance trailers.

      @@AllAboutRVs does that mean you all are looking for your next RV to go along with the new tow vehicle?

    • @steves3688
      @steves3688 4 роки тому

      Absolutely Lance...especially since it uses Azdel, Jayco supposedly only uses behind lower front area on a few models...Lance pays more attention to detail also....tho NO rv/trailer is perfect, the added features that Lance uses are game changers in my mind...ALSO the use of MANY windows for lighting is an absolute must...and I do believe that Lance has a 4 seasons option too(you have to order this with it)...do a walk thru in both and look for all the little things and that should tell you...eg:...slam latches on exterior doors, frames...also ask what the subfloors are made of, dovetailed drawers...etc..etc....

      No we are sticking with our RV. It would be nice to have a little newer RV but ours fits our family really well.

    Overpriced for sure.. had one for the last 3 years.. these have a flat roof which. Pools water, trim and other components are same as any other rv,, had my front window blow up from expansion,even with waxing and taking care of it the exterior started loosing its sheen so only a matter of time before it will be toast

    this guy sounds like he's trying to sell a Lance; talk about the locks on the outside that are total trash, and can easily be picked into, the locks on the doors which are total trash, the screen door that wont last a year, the water heater that will need to be replaced within a year, the shades on the windows that will need to be replaced within year, the leaks that come in the bathroom when it rains, the screens on the sunroofs that will let bugs in, the black tanks that will let poop smells up in the cabin, Lance products are trash

    • @AllAboutRVs
      @AllAboutRVs  4 роки тому +1

      I'm sorry you took it that way, I'm not selling anything and have nothing to gain if you buy a Lance or not, but I do disagree that they are junk. I do not say they are the best but they are better than the average towable RV. If you take care of the RV you will not have all the things you listed break. We replaced our door locks well over a year ago to the same ones Lance is using and have had no issues or problems with them at all and that is full time use. Same with our similar screen door, 16 years old and still working great. Our RV is 16 years old not as good of quality as the Lance and is still doing well because we take care of the RV.
