I would just to say a big thank you to everyone who ordered my book last week and to all of you who sent me such kind reviews. It really does mean a lot. Today we finally get to paint the Northern Lights! This has been requested for quite a while so I’m extremely glad that we were able to do a video on it. I hope you enjoy!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for showing your talent! Bravo, bravo!
Have a nice Sunday.
Bless you for sharing your gift with the world!
I loved this picture of the northern lights. I especially loved the way you explained in detail what brushes you used and the color it paints. Thank you so much. I would love to see more of your work.
I meant to say I love the little cabin
Enchanting and I love your teaching/painting techniques. Ty !
That is just beautiful. I live in NZ and we do have aurora lights down South so I guess they are called Southern lights. But I live in the North island so have never seen them. Thankyou so much, keep giving me pleasure with your lessons

This was excellent.! I do hope you don't throw away these paintings you do for us to see. One day you will also love them to look back upon. GREAT work.!

This guy just Bob Ross’d the shit out of all of us. Well done.
Its amazing
Thank you, Ayla!
Dear Ryan, thanks for showing us also the 'cheating' steps (concerning the time) you took. Those little details often make the difference between an ordinary painting and an amazing/interesting one :-) So I really am thankful that you let us in on how to apply those small magic details!
excellent teaching sir
I love this! Looks like Alaska!
very nice. Will make for my husband as a surprise
Awesome...
Wow. You are gifted Ryan. You could do art seminars or run an art camp for income.
very nice Thank you
Thank you! I made it! But I also drew a man with a dog looking at aurora))
Thank yo u very beautiful thank s
It's so amazing to watch you paint! I feelquite encouraged to try this - whenI do it, where do I post it? Thank you somuch!!!
Ах, какая красота!!!
🥰🥰🥰👏🏽
Wow !
Did you trace the house/snow outlines beforehand? How is it showing through the black like that? Thanks!
Simple, Fast and Beautiful! Not much effort, but maximum effect. That's what I love about your 10 min vids :D. I love this new piece! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely make this one this weekend. I'm wondering though, is it okay that I paint my white canvas black and leave it to dry before I do it?
Much appreciated! I did exactly what you’re planned on doing. I added two layers of black paint to a white canvas and let it fully dry. I hope that helps!
It does!! Thank you!
you mentioned that the lights are a mixture of pink and green. what actual colors did you use? thanks
I mean defenetly
Great stuff!! OMG, now I know the secret to the northern lights :-) What do you think about using a fan brush to the Northern Lights?
I think a fan brush would be a great choice for the portion of the lights where you pull the paints upwards!
Plz do one with colored pencils
what size canvas do you typically use for your 10 minute paintings?
It differs. However, I wouldn't worry about the canvas size when you're following tutorials. Just be aware that the larger the canvas is the more detail you can implement
thank you!
This might be a dumb question but do you prime your canvas before you paint ?
I do not prime my canvases necessarily. But in this lesson the canvas was painted with acrylic mars black paint and allowed to fully dry before painting. Hope that helps!
Hi hmm. Can you type the procedure
Can you post a 10 minutes cabin painting for beginners?
its not really a thing you can do in 10 mins but its cool
7:51 (just bookmarking that for myself hahah)
Do you use glaze?
I do not. I try to keep these lessons as easy and accessible as possible :)
is there such a place similar like the painting?
justsomeawesome yes
Megan Sheldon where at?
justsomeawesome dude I live in Canada. Cabins are fairly commonplace here. If you go to Northern or Western Canada, the northern lights are out all the time.
Megan Sheldon thanks for the information I really am a nature guy
Alberta, Yellowknife, Alaska
kinda looks like Bob Ross' painting Northern lights
I'm told I should follow you on Instagram. Which are you, there are so many with your name?
His 10 mins took me 2 hours lol
lolll
Probably because your were waiting for the paint to dry 😂
This is beautiful you did a great job but I'm so disappointed that you painted the faraway mountains and you did not showed up how to do it, I spent a LOT of time, effort and acrylic paints and I still don't get it, my painting is now full of shit in gray and blue and black, really disappointed...
I actually didn't leave anything out. 1:21 to 1:56 was the entire process of painting the mountains. I didn't do anything between the video cuts aside from move the camera. The colors were just more noticeable because they weren't reflecting at that angle.
This is because I did the same thing as you but nothing shows up that there were mountains, it is just ends up with something grey, what color did you use for it ?
And I wanted to say something else, that I am so sorry for my bad thinking and if I onffended you I apologize for this, because yesterday I was so angry that my painting was damaged and now I am sorry for this.
I just used grey. However, I ensured that one side was a darker grey than the other. I also incorporate small inconsistency (like paths) Just ensure you have a bright side, a dark side, and some contrast :)
Beautiful
