I never watch videos full screen
Back in the day car reviews were 5-10 minutes on a tv show that aired a couple times a week. Now we get this hour long review with all the details. Love it.
Enjoy 😀

I agree. very good review. Honest, impartial and factual. Good job sir
Autogefuhl is the best secret of UA-cam car channels. Deserve more views for sure. Congratulations for your detailed videos and honest reviews. Greetings from Portugal.
Thanks!! Please recommend 🤗
Right, a half-million-subscribers secret! 👍
@@bluethomas7810 No, the point it´s the half-million car channels on YT!! :)
It is so weird that Autogefühl gets so few subscribers. I think it is because Americans dominate youtube and discriminate against those without native speaker accents. Or the youtube algorithm favors those channels from English speaking countries.
Agree. I love German car reviewers as they are so thorough, but unluckily most of the German car channels do not make content in English. Autogefuhl is the best of both worlds.
Well done, I was already looking for your review on this amazing Land Rover Defenders
Good review. I've had Land Rovers for 35 years now, and own a 1996 Defender 110 - 300 Tdi. With loads of aftermarked extras, it is a real head turner, and I love it. But would I like to own this new one? Answer is YES! Time doesn't stand still. Evolution goes on. I think this car will be a success. High price, but it will keep it's value better than both the Range Rover and the Disco 5. Because it is a Defender.
It won't. Old Defender prices are appreciating because of this new one.
Intelligent design moves on rather than evolution 😚
LR has done a tremendous job, especially with the interior which looks luxurious and tough at the same time.
You mean TATA done tremendous job?
@@abazdarhon TATA has done more for Jaguar and Landrover than Ford and BMW ever did combined,TATA is also older than most car companies because it was founded 152 years ago.
It is not supposed to be luxurious inside. It is supposed to be utilitarian. In UK, farmers are not buying this, they are happy with their L200, D-Max and Navarros.
@@MaximilianvonPinneberg You _can_ specify it to be luxurious inside. People seem to forget that 'luxury' is subjective. 'Luxury' encapsulates spaciousness, comfort, extravagance, well-being, affluence and indulgence. 'Luxury' is not just about the thickness of the carpet and the rarity of the animal skin that adorns the seats. Defender _can_ be utilitarian if that suits your lifestyle. But it can accommodate rather more diverse tastes if required.
@@Clavinovaman The new Defender is not utilitarian. It has standard electric seats, mid spec they are even heated and electric in the rear row. Since you mentioned "
The Off road drive comes as a pleasant surprise. Loved the Review.
Besides the content, I like the fact that comments under autogefuhl videos are quite nice and respectful, unlike other popular car review channels in where people swearing each other because of being fan boys etc
That’s what Thomas deserves ;)

Autogefuhl Drinking Game! I like the soft suspension, and character - that sounds great for wafting along the UK's broken up roads, that sometimes resemble off-road tracks. Many thanks for the detail, and for the great driving and commentary, Thomas. Keep up the good work. Don't change. Kind regards to the Team.
👍
I was never this early, as usual awesome detailed review 👍
Nice review Thomas! Always enjoy your reviews, your English is so good too!
The UI of the instruments cluster and the infotainment is superb and delightfully simplistic and clean. Compare this to extravagant teenagerish design in Mercedes or BMW. Bravo Land Rover!
Holy Moly! 56 minutes and 26 seconds of a review 😯. But not one second was i bored 😉😎
As always a masterpiece of a review 👍 by Thomas & Jonas 😎
Tanks guys !
Appreciated 🤗
@@autogefuehl Best review so far, and I'm from Australia.
One of the most anticipated car and the review.
I will get the new Defender next week but still watching reviews. I thought I saw them all but today stumbled over yours. As a fellow native German speaking liked your accent already but then I discovered that this is the review I was looking for. It's just the way that if you get the car and discover it yourself with all the little details. And you give your opinion and verdict, which obviously you can buy or not. Best review I saw on the New Defender. Thanks!
Absolute brilliant review and very professional thanks 👍
Super review, Thomas, as ever...
Never thought I would ever contemplate a green car, but pangea green, on the three door particularly, looks fantastic. Just wish you could get a fixed panoramic roof on the 3 door.
Looks much better in the flesh than on video.
Definitely targeting the Discovery 4 drivers that don't want the Discovery 5, bigger market than the original defender market, very clever marketing for LR.
A very small percentage will see the dirt road especially here in Australia and hopefully they have improved the reliability.
Not for me by the way, but a very very impressive report!
thanks 4 tuning in !
Great review Thomas
This is going to be good! Thanks in advance!
Hi Thomas. Great review! Thanks.
Great video and presentation from over the pond 🇬🇧 )))) 😉
Received my P400 HSE 2 weeks ago after a 10 month wait. Exceeded my expectations, amazing car!
I've probably watched every Defender 2020 video so far. This one is the best. Thanks!
thanks, please recommend =)
Thank you! Really good job on review! I love this car!
thanks, keep joining our channel! :)
Awesome presentation
Best car channel for sure. Like your style!
Thanks keep tuning in 😎
Excellent review of the defender
Mine is on the way but because of Covid it is delayed a bit ... should be here by Christmas ... really looking forward to this vehicle! Great review!!!
How is yours coming along these days???
Thomas mentioned the drinking game! Been playing that since this channel started...got today right too 🤘🏻
If you had a drink for every time Autogefühl released an amazing, informative video, you must be a heavy drinker, lol. A drink for every video. 😂
True that 😂
😁😁😁
That off-road portion is really cool as well. 😎
Seems like perfect car for my family . Enough comfort for town , spacious , rugged and safe , good consumption/vs power ratio , with offroad capability for ocasional trips in to the wild . I have ordered one already (3.0 D , 300 ps ) , cant wait until it arive
How's your defender
@@cmtexperts4825 besides very bad audio system , everything works fine for me :) Car works as i expect - perfect . But i will change it for GLE350de - because situation/price of diesel Diesel here in europe .

Your reviews are awesome

Awesome defenda review
Excellent Review ...................
Sounded good when you accelerated 👍🏻🙂
Flawless, professional presentation, as always. For me, Land Rover has the best design language in modern car industry. Evoque, Discovery, Defender, Velar, Range Rover, all just gorgeous, exteriors and interiors. They make all other makers' SUV offers (especially upmarket brands), to look plain clumsy in comparison. Except maybe some Volvo and Peugeot SUVs. And BMW X2.
🙏
Hey, big fan of the channel, i was wondering when will you be doing reviews in 4K Full Sceen xd ?
When bandwidth improves worldwide 🤗
Excellent for long road trips in Australia … cant wait until it gets to us DownUnder
Younare clearly an idiot. Go take this on the canning stock route. See if you make it out with 84 ECU's, under body cameras, and air suspension. This needs an auto electrician to fix not a mechanic. You CANNOT rely on this for long distance trips, grow up man child.
Yeah... until something goes wrong, then you are flatbedding to back to a capital city because Land Rover gutted their country dealer network. I've had ~ 10 Land Rovers (Defender; Disco; RR) and I'll probably buy one of these new 110's in base model spec, so I don't hate LR at all. But if I was crossing the Simpson (which I am doing next week) I'd not be taking my Defender (I'm going in a LandCruiser 76 series).
Haters gonna hate.
@@spudboy1328 Fair enough, you aren't the only Aussie who detests the land rover brand. This car is garbage just like the rest of the range. BMW, AUDI AND MERCEDES-BENZ do it a lot better. Tbh I would be surprised if Land Rover gets sold in Australia as you have loads of decent Japanese, American and Chinese off road cars to choose from now.
@@bigjimnycub9582 agreed you need a Hilux, G-Wagon, Land Cruiser or an American SUV for those areas
👍🏿👏🏿 🌞...Thank You for such a great review!
cheers!
As usual Thomas gives us a very fair, very well informed and very objective review, he is totally professional and ego plays no part.British motor journalists please take note, it is all about the vehicle.
thanks peter!
Good to know you are doing well!
And I must say that your reviews are as good as ever.
As far as this new Defender it will take time ...to get used to it.
Some nice details, but the price is a bit of a let down.
Keep safe.
😎👍
This is the best review on the defender on UA-cam. Very through
Highly appreciated!!

This video is so so so good, thank you a lot for all your job.
I have ordered mine and in October I will get a new green one with white roof 😁.
Find your channel was a real pleasure.
Thank you again.
How’s your Defender doing??? Sold it already?
@@allaboutcars4835 Hi, absolutely not. It is still with me. in October we will celebrate 2 years. the car is great, especially for traveling and for transporting everything .. moreover it is very solid and safe and with the family it is a very important plus. I also did some off-road routes and didn't have the slightest problem. only negative note: consumption and management costs. to date, if I were to buy a new car, I would still take a defender as long as the arrival of the new Ford Bronco in Europe is marketed with a non-American engine ...
@@Starfighter-7 Fuel consumption and “management” costs? Can you please explain more…
@@allaboutcars4835 yea of course: I am in north east of Italy 🇮🇹. Here the gasoline ⛽️ cost is now 1,80€ for one liter.
on normal road it consumes about 8 liters per 100 kilometers (12.5 km / L) while traveling or on the highway it drops to about 12 liters per 100 kilometers (8.33 km / L)
as far as maintenance costs are concerned, here is an annual tax called car tax which for the model I own Defender S 2.0 D 200 HP of € 487.22 to which the coupons that are made in Land Rover are rather expensive. labor alone costs € 87 per hour of work. the first service, for example, cost me € 800 and only included the oil change, controls, and air filter change ... the next service will cost at least € 1000 as long as everything is in order. a little curiosity: I went to Land Rover last week to have the wiper blades replaced and they cost me 90 € with a 10% discount on the invoice made by the dealer ...
in short, a wonderful car, it makes me smile every time I drive it, it takes you everywhere but in my humble opinion it is too expensive and they tend to exaggerate the ancillary costs.
@@Starfighter-7 sounds like you better watch a UA-cam video on how to change your own wipers.
As for the price of gas, you only have about 2 years of that crap, then the electric vehicles will take over, so don’t worry.
Great review as always. Disco 4 successor.
Absolutely. I simply could not overcome the look of the D5’s rear. Patiently waiting for this to arrive in oz.
cargo space is quite compromised though in comparison to the Discovery. might matter to some.
I think these look great. If you want slick urban, buy....sorry lease a Velar, but if you want funky off road, or just tons of room, lease this. I'd just go for the stripped down version. Even get those base wheels. This is suppose to be a tool like a swiss army knife. And if you compare it to that Mercedes G wagen this is a steal. But lease, don't buy. ;) Thanks for the great review and welcome back Jonas!
Thx pal!
How can you get in & out of the sunroof with your keys ?or optional roof ?For when it floods in your area in short notice
I prefer the old Defender, but I spend 56 minutes , enjoying the video....great review!!!!!
Awesome!
I've had three Land Rover Series III (109 "and two 88"). Series III was the forerunner of Defender. It's really fun to see how Land Rover has developed the concept to a modern age and maybe more so than the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, which I first drove in 1983 with the W460 model. I like that Land Rover has kept the concept fairly serious and not made the car so-called upmarket and distinctly posh. That it will still be posh in some contexts I'm pretty sure, but this may not be Land Rover's fault :)
Hey, that half-ash pano sun roof will still be nice for most users in the summer when searching for their Starbucks.
Very good review! One technical note (at 39:58): 3 to 1 reduction gear does not necessarily mean that 1st gear in high range equals 3rd gear in low. In this ZF 8-speed 1st gear high range is closer to 4th gear at low range.
Thanks!
Love the 90
I’ve seen the 5 door version recently launched in India. The engine is a small unit. A 2 litre petrol. In my book it is underpowered. And has to work very hard indeed to pull that huge bulk along. The tyres are 255/65/19. Alloy wheels and all of course. Looking at the vehicle, it does seem a little under tyred too. The new Defender 2020 is far larger than the Range Rover itself and originally that was supposed to be the bigger brother! I am 6ft 2 inches tall and this Defender was literally towering over me when I stood next to it. It is full of thoughtful touches and feels solid. However, I am not at all sure, after watching TFL videos on UA-cam, about its overall reliability, on account of the simply excessive number of electronic gizmos it comes loaded with.
Cushions of front seats don't has adjustments length, is it comfortable for you? Thanks.
I love full review like this. dont cut this please. thanks
🙏
Hopefully there’s going to be a video on the defender 90 too?
39:34 aw man, that's a missed chance.
"And now to ou roff-road driving..."
Why not: "Welcome to Thomas' crawling lounge!" :-D
😂
50:20 Ooh nice Beetle 😂😂😂🤙🏻🤙🏻
All these keyboard critics who want it to be as utilitarian as the original clearly do not understand that such a vehicle simply wouldn’t sell in sufficient numbers to turn a profit. You don’t invest massive amounts in the development of a vehicle like this and narrow your market appeal. I think this is an excellent design that will age well. It also can be produced in future stripped down variants that are intended more exclusively for the Safari crowd.
Yes 100% there was a reason people stopped buying the old Defender. The new Defender commercial has just been released. Simpler coil spring suspension and a list price of £35k/$40k, could be a winner.
I believe that the direction of the boot door is defintely an issue in country with right driving law. It demands much more space between your car and other's. Otherwise, you hardly can open the door and move stuff in.
I really like this re-interpretation of the original Defender!
It's not a Defender, it is what the D5 should have been.....
@@MaximilianvonPinneberg It says “Defender”! That’s what it is!
@@allaboutcars4835 Yes and apparently McDonald's I a 'restaurant'. That's what it says above the door.... I've actually seen my 3rd 'new Defender' near me. However I regularly se 4-5 old Defenders on a daily basis. I guess he owners don't want to part with them for some tech driven, problem riddled tonka toy Chelsea factor.
@@MaximilianvonPinneberg
If that’s what is says on the door, and it’s a legitimate sign, then it’s McDonald’s 🤦🏼♀️
@@allaboutcars4835 No, I was talking about the term 'restaurant', hence why it was in brackets. I thought hat was obvious for sen the most averagely intelligent person. And you retract the misjudged emoji too.
40:34 there are two bags in the air suspension to minimise discomfort with reduced dampening
Would love to see you do the Dodge Challenger next!
For me I think it would have to be the P400e hybrid you save on uk car road tax and using the electric motor would give you around 27 miles of range so adding to fuel savings over the diesel. Great review thanks Thomas.
Thanks 🙏 3door review in a couple of weeks!
upgrade the stereo and you get ambient lighting, amazing

Do you think that Land Rover will correct the rear door swing direction for markets that drive on the right side of the road for next year’s model? Dodging traffic while trying to load my cello in the back is just too stressful for daily life.
No idea, interesting aspect
Does the silver one have the factory satin wrap on it? Thanks
I live in Belize central america,a secret paradise for all sorts of adventurous people, just got to say, that our first prime minister had a landrover defender for his all purpose touring of the country and he rarely had any issues making his way to see people in real hard to reach villages especially after a flood, our terrain here is very serious for testing great upcoming suvs,in the past when the Mercedes ml30 was coming out along with the introduction of the new lexus then and old now was the lexus rs300 was going up against 3 other suvs & the lexus & Mercedes did well but had to have technology to check on how capable those where but this new landrover Defender would be something to really have to do some test driving here, but it would need a engine snorkel just to insure a safe travel experience.
That run to 162 was impressive. Where I live would get your car taken away.Germany is so sensible. One thing I have not seen anyone mention is the fact the car is wifi connected. Maybe you can update navigation maps easily ?
yes indeed, it is always on
Did you guys also find the chassis to be rigid as hell? LRJ claims torsional stiffness to be 3 times as high as their best to date which makes me wonder whether you could experience that clearly?
It sure is
Is it just me or does the new 3.0L I-6 that JLR offers not sound like an I-6?? It’s very V6 in engine note.
Considering the prices of the latest Jeep models, the defender is quite attractive to my view!
does the camera show whats in front of the vehicle?
But how much is the cargo area in liters ?
@ Autogefühl
trying to decide D250 110 or P400e. Any suggestions? I feel the diesel would be good but not sure if it is a smart investment based on the "bad diesel" name. Suggestions? You'e mentioned in the end too about considering competition, what would you say is a safe and good buy of a premium suv at the moment? Thinking of the Defender as everything else getting a facelift X5, GLE, RRS....
I really like X5 6cyl or 6cyl PHEV with Sensatec seats
Land Rover has huge reliability issues sadly
@@autogefuehl Thank you. would you be concerned going Diesel this day and age or probably better to pay more for the alternatives?
depends on which brand / which engine and your driving profile. Diesel is for long trips / high milage
The side mirrors are gigantic
Yeah common issue with Euro SUVs and seven seater models. There is a reason our US SUV seven seaters are so large. Even the Disco back seats are a bit lacking on leg room.
Hi thomas i just purchased the new defender and having some noise problems when i go over 120kph the sound seems to be coming around the windshield and it’s the same sound you get when you hit a bug or flies but it’s constant over that speeds did you had the same problems on your test thanks in advance
No. Could be an unbalanced mass? Check with dealer
