This song tore me to shreds when I first heard it, and watching the performance of it was like dying and being reborn all in the breadth of one song. The strings rising and lifting as the song progresses and hits crescendo, hanging at a height before spiralling downwards in ecstacy. I will never not cry over this song.

its always the masterpieces that go under the radar and its saddening, Jamie (the lead singer) has one the most captivating voices ever, even when performed live without autotune he sings flawlessly, along with the meaning behind his songs and use of instruments, i can't fathom why he isn't as popular as he should be, this music is genre defining.

Jeff, thank you for reviewing this song. Some years ago I heard Jamie’s voice for around five seconds on a Royksopp song.
I stopped my car and looked him up and found In The Shirt.
He carried away all of my emotions, and by the time the crescendo came up near the end, he had returned them all to me and I wept.
It was a very emotional time for me. I shared the song with my dear sister. She reacted nearly the same way.
I hope Jamie reads my comment and others like it and makes more masterpieces.
Your review was the epitomi of all that I experienced.

The lyrics are beautiful and so touching, the buildup of the song is so attractive. Just like life it keeps you wanting more, expecting more only to have you realize what youve been waiting for was the things you already experienced but didnt value enough. Things lost, time past, love forgotten and emotions cooped up only to let it all explode in a quick summary of life like the end of the song with every experience of your life pasisng by you in just a moment making you long for more...making you reminisce....but alas...time gone is time lost.

Thanks for putting this up with your reaction, Jeff. This is an amazing, theatrical performance and its wonderful to see such appreciation from an industry professional. I just wish I had been there to see the amazing Jamie and the Irrepressibles deliver this at Haldern!

Esta canción es una obra maestra, te transmite tanto desde el primer acorde, y el cierre es sin duda perfecto, la primera vez que la escuché llore y al mismo tiempo me sentó feliz

Thank you Jeff for reacting to this! This androgyne soul with both strength and incredible vulnerability. A love song across genders I guess. The classical instrumentation and arrangement but also so modern beautful and fragile. I love it so much. A happy sad uplifting experience. Hmm I am rambling. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😊

I loved this, Andreas. After I watched this video I saw that Jamie Irrepressible (lead singer) also worked with Röyksopp! Very cool!

such a solid song. i work in a harsh dangerous environment. With some of the hardest men you will ever meet. i remember we had a hell of a shift all hell breaking loose. i played this at the end of the shift in the crib room. i could see my brothers all welling up. we were all shattered i remember looking across at the hardest of us all. tears streaming down his face i told him Love you bro we couldn’t have got there without you. we are all going home SAFE in half an hr to be with our families. This moment ill never forget. We strode out of there as brothers As kings.

Refreshingly different. It also reminds me( quite a lot) of Anthony and the Johnsons. Having read the comment from Sun Set I went on to listen to " Can't help falling in love"By Diana Ankudinova. WOW. Just a master of the contralto. Thanks Sun Set.
