Amethyst doesn't have feelings for Greg, she's very lonely and doesn't have a peer who she's friends with. Everyone spends a lot of focus on Steven and Amethyst feels left out. She's the youngest gem, but eons older than Steven.
Steven having to witness that is actually pretty huge (in a bad way). He lives with amethyst. She is like a guardian to him. Now having that same person shapeshift into his dead mom (which is already a heavy topic for him) to pressure his father is scarring. It would destroy any trust in that person. Honestly, seeing these episodes again motivates me to just give a deep dive analysis on steven and the effects events like these had on his childhood
Amethysts dynamic in the group has been my favorite to examine. While Garnet and Pearl are obvious parental/aunt-like figures for Steven. Amethyst is more like Steven's older sister. Rose "adopted" Amethyst and she idolized her accordingly. Amethyst likes Greg but also blames him for the fact that Rose, her "mother", stopped paying attention to her and eventually chose to die because Rose cared more about her new fella and "real" child more than Amethyst. Based on this episode alone, it is obvious Greg and Amethyst relied on eachother after Rose's death but it lead to Greg being gone FOR DAYS, which is neglectful with Steven still being so young. We can infer they stopped hanging out because Greg realized his responsibility for Steven (just like he did with the fireworks).Amethyst is still a relatively young gem and while not human, has gone through major changes in the early stages of maturation. Losing that relationship with Greg was probably really hard especially right after losing Rose, and they both left her for Steven. She loves Steven now and can get along with Greg fine, (especially when the focus is on having fun) but in stressful situations I think it is natural for her to lash out at them as she will never quite fit in the same way with the crystal gems as she had before.
I remember the wait for season 3. And the absolute amazement when I finally got to watch it. I think I might've even screamed during the episode where a certain rainbow icon is introduced
Greg and Amythist's relationship is odd. There is a theory that they were a rebound relationship after Rose created Steven. And the "I've seen your junk before" joke...is extremely suggestive.
yup I really do think they had a thing after rose past and gave up her form. It also makes sense because of all the suggestive things around in convos throughout the series. I think them being together was them coping with their grief and sadness of the person they loved.
@@alexvilla1443 particularly, "I've seen your junk before", I mean it COULD have been innocent, HOWEVER, Greg's reaction is unbelievably revealing. (To my mine anyway)
Connie is so cute in Marble Madness, so eager to share her passion. Yet I do enjoy when Steven wrecks her with mixing up the reading order. lol Hate when some book series don't just have a friggin' number on the cover and you have to look up the reading order beforehand. At least Steven got all the books, but it's such a hassle at like a library. A bit less so now that smartphones are a thing, but still.
So there's a theory floating around the fan community that for a bit after Rose essentially died Greg took comfort in Amethyst changing into her. This episode is the main catalyst for the theory.
Yay i get so exited when i see you drop a new vid especially a Steven one, so exited for you to experience this seasons finally and the rest of the seasons just get better and better.
I'm not gonna lie, EVERY TIME you two went on about the books and the robanoid being related I was Connie: Noooo! On another note it's possible that it DOES link Connie's love for fantasy (and the belief that she is boring) to her love of Steven's crazy world.
Keep in mind, Every episode after episode 45 are not in chronological order, they're all jumbled, and I've seen that it takes place in season 2 in the wiki too. It's just a mess. They are "Open book", "Shirt Club", "Story for Steven", and "Say Uncle".
I love SU but one thing I hate about the fandom is that they’ll hate characters for ONE a thing they did in earlier seasons, like the entire point of the show is that someone does something bad, but they learn from it, and people are still mad at amethyst for what she did in Maximum Capacity.
One of the best things about this show is that every character has positive and negative qualities and has messed up before. It makes them feel so much more like people.
Understandable doesn't mean excusable. That was very messed up either way, but at least she felt guilt and tried to make it up and grow from it which is perhaps something she wouldn't have done before
I'm trying to say is that Steven should be a teenager instead because he can take care of himself as a teenager he can be more improving like actually going on missions with the gems
do- do you think getting taller is the same as improving? like he can use his bubble and is getting better with his shield. he's also pretty much more mature then the gems at this point. that sounds like improvement to me. he's just a short king
Compare the Steven of The Test and Maximum Capacity with the Steven of Cheeseburger Backpack, Serious Steven, Frybo or Cat Fingers. He is definitely maturing emotionally.
Peridot's robots being summoned by Connie's books is one of the weirdest theories I've ever heard
I know right haha, but to be fair- they are new to the show 😊

Watching first reactions to “I’ve seen your junk before” never gets old 😂
6:00
He's explaining to them why the situation is difficult to them
Yet no one's wondering how it feels for Steven to just witness that
Sadly, I don't believe Steven would know how he felt either :(
This child needed so much therapy.

Note that Peridot is mystified by the words "the Crystal Gems"...she obviously doesn't know what they mean and their historic implication.

Few more eps away. I'm so freaking hyped for your guys' reactions for the last set of eps.
*[MY ROBONOIIDSS]*
can't wait for them to get to the 3rd season, it's the best one in my opinion
I remember the wait for season 3. And the absolute amazement when I finally got to watch it. I think I might've even screamed during the episode where a certain rainbow icon is introduced
The Steven Nuke is peak Steven Universe
Agreed
13:40 same, I get so hyped when they say that, it's like their battle cry it's awesome

Dude I love hearing this from you guys since this was also my favorite show as a kid!
So there's a theory floating around the fan community that for a bit after Rose essentially died Greg took comfort in Amethyst changing into her. This episode is the main catalyst for the theory.

i love how connie's books are basically the "the Golden Compass" trilogy
"I've seen your junk before"
I'm not gonna lie, EVERY TIME you two went on about the books and the robanoid being related I was Connie: Noooo!

I feel like those books are SU's version of The Golden Compass - the familiar, the father, etc
4:40 I just love when they wear human clothes
9:02 the disrespect for the late Plinkman 😢 lol just lowercase
cant wait for episode 45 you'll love it
I totally think Amethyst and Greg used to fool around.
Keep in mind, Every episode after episode 45 are not in chronological order, they're all jumbled, and I've seen that it takes place in season 2 in the wiki too. It's just a mess. They are "Open book", "Shirt Club", "Story for Steven", and "Say Uncle".

Or mad at Greg for what he did in House Guest.
I think almost every main gem has a moment close to that
One of the best things about this show is that every character has positive and negative qualities and has messed up before. It makes them feel so much more like people.
Amethyst transforming into Rose is way too messed up, poor Greg
ITS HAPPENINGGGGG
Please continue Steven Universe reactions, I will be sure to watch every one! ❤️ New subscriber
Lil butler reminds me of the Pringles guy as a Baby
Oh this is when the show starts to get a bit serious
oh the thing this sets up i forgot!
honestly i dont blame amethyst in this episode, ive been through the same thing and its completely understandable for her to do that
i mean, you can understand why she did it, but that still doesn't make it ok. but she tries to make up for it
Understandable doesn't mean excusable. That was very messed up either way, but at least she felt guilt and tried to make it up and grow from it which is perhaps something she wouldn't have done before
Peridot peridot peridot peridot-
I'm trying to say is that Steven should be a teenager instead because he can take care of himself as a teenager he can be more improving like actually going on missions with the gems
YOOO I'M THE 1Kth like
WOHOO lezzgo
I kinda hate Steven as a kid because I wish he was taller and improving
?
Improving? In what way?
Kinda sounds like you're still a kid.
