      My 2013 Accord needed a new starter at about 100,000 also-- worked great until one day my wife stopped to get gas and engine would not start... No warning- I read that they were designed poorly in that slip ring dust gets into a contactor inside and shorts it out-- I replaced with a remanufactured one also but afterwards I wished I'd just got a new one from Bosch as it likely isn't a poor design like the Honda OEM one.

    Just went to check my tensioner pulley because I've had a new noise when the engine revs. Was planning on replacing it so I took the drive belt off to check and the pulley is smooth and doesn't make any noise. Started looking around and saw oil near the valve cover gasket. I recently had to add a quart, which is something I've never had to do. I have a 2014 with 71k miles on it. Have you ever heard of the valve cover gasket needing to be replaced this early? That's what brought me to your video. I appreciate the depth you went to in your explanation. Thanks in advance.

      It’s always a good thing to remove the negative cable from the battery to prevent causing an electric short and blow a fuse or the worse damaging the computer. Thanks so much this video gives us lots of confidence to perform this work

    Hi Mike, i have a question for you. I have the exact same car Honda accord 2014 Lx (same color) I just got back from the honda dealer because i had code P0128 and P0303 (mis fire on cylinder 3) And they told me that i blew my head gasket and need a new or used engine. I then took it to 2 mechanics and believe honda is taking it to a hole different level. What is your advice on that? and can i just replace the heads on it ? i dont want to replace the hole engine its very expensive and not thinking on keeping it for more then a year. Please help! Im stressing out and very confused!

      What caused the initial issue? Did it overheat or were there any other signs of problems? If you do need an engine ebay is the cheapest and they offer engines out of salvage cars for less than $1000.

    Are the valves adjustable onn a 2014 Accord or are they hydraulic lifters with shims?

    • @Sunshone7311
      @Sunshone7311  6 років тому +2

      They are solid with a top screw adjustment, no shims needed.

    I have oil leaking around the head cover, what does that mean?

    • @nelsblair2667
      @nelsblair2667 5 років тому

      Zimbo Simmons check the torque on all 8-10 bolts. If you can tighten a few (gently with one hand on the ratchet), then you may be able to stop the leak in about a minute.

    hey mike if am just changing the gasket do I have to route the engine?Or could I just change the gasket without moving the rockers

    • @nelsblair2667
      @nelsblair2667 5 років тому +1

      Andres Cruz vazquez changing the valve cover gasket is pretty easy with this video and doesn’t require rotation of the engine cams. Rotation is just for measuring valve lash / timing gaps.

      Yes. Honda calls the valve cover gasket the head cover gasket because it is actually the head cover gasket.
