What unit/clan is this?
This is my unit, the Cadian XXth. Casual milsim, roleplay and all those weird ops that you never get to play in your normal milsim group. It can be found in the discord: / discord
What is this mod?
There were a lot. It was also a lot of scripting by the mission maker (myself) for things like the single shot rifles, Zulu chants and equipment.
ArmA 3 Primal and Napoleonic Era were used:

Are you SovietWomble?
I wish. Video definitely has inspiration from the likes of Soviet and Max0r, but I try to strike a nice line for telling a story, humorous edits and actual gameplay. For something like this, I don't feel the need to edit in every word said. Plus, I edited this in a day, so time constraints were another issue.

When you make a bunch of people march in a game they will eventually start singing
At this rate I wonder if some indie game can just make a "marching sim" that works like a discord call for people that like old historical cadences and ambience

Rimmy: They couldn't hit anything from this distance!
Also Rimmy: Killed by Zulu sniper fire.
Its a reference to the person who said that and also got shot.
Historically accurate
@@lokenontherange John Sedgwick was that one who suggested that Johnny Reb couldn't hit an elephant at this (800+ yards) distance, before getting dinked right under the eye. Whitworth rifles ain't nuthin' ta fuck with
Only reason why most of them couldn't hit at that distance was because they treated the rangefinders on their rifle sights as some sort of "power setting".
Nice reference to John Sedgwick

Rimmy: They couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance!
Union General John Sedgwick: Hey! I’ve seen this one!
"Hey, I've seen this o-"
I thought about this as I was watching this
"See" is a poor choice of words, given that he was shot in the eye.
Rimmy: They Couldn't Hit An Elephant At This Range! *(Instantly gets shot dead)*
Did he know that would happen? Because that's apparently, exactly what happened to the originator of that quote
"They couldn't hit an elephant from this dist"
The original quote was more long the lines of 'They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist-'
I don't know if it was the same guy but he got shot at 3 times, the 3rd was when he got hit, the first time the shot fired he chastised his soldiers for ducking, the second time he got shot at he chastised them again, talking about how there was no way the enemy would hit them, right before he got shot in the eye and killed.
"They couldn't hit an elephant at this range. Too bad I'm not an elephant..."
There is a cut of several minutes between those. Rimmy edited it to suit as even better reference to the movie then he originally intended.
“STEP FORWARD, THE BRAVE MAN WHO SUGGESTED I WAS OUTRANKED BY A HORSE!”
“It was me!”
*BANG*
Can we talk about how perfect Digby’s voice is
You can take Digby away from the Commissariat, but you can't take the Commissariat out of Digby.

Zulus also don't have throwing spears, the iklwa is completely a stabbing spear. There are also no isihlangu (the shields the Zulus use). (also a minor point, Rimmy refers to the Natal Native Horseman as Boers. and I don't know if he was referring the models used in the game, but the NNH were usually from the Nguni tribes)
@@Garith000 Indeed. But after the Bridge Too Far, I've begun to wonder if Digby is another reenactor, or at the least a milhist nerd. Because he's got the right kind of "weird" to be one of us :D
@@goldenhide Rorke's Drift is traditional knowledge to me :P, but yea I would put my money on milhist nerd. If he is a reenactor then he at least does his homework well
@@Garith000 Noice. Yeah Digby was rolling a paras uniform for "A Bridge Too Far" IRL. Hey, some of us reenactors can do it well, others (particularly certain boomers with certain attitudes) just... make it infinitely harder for the rest of us.
@@goldenhide Really? We have the opposite problem here. It's usually the younger members of the clubs who pretend its a CoD match and make it less fun. Maybe thats just because we have conscription here until the early 90s, so most of the older gentlemen have 2-5 years actual military experience and take it as a return to the "glory days"

oh wow my old (napoleonic) mod is still being used/played... I feel flattered :). This was more proof of concept than anything. With some real model editors this would be much more awesome. The soldier models are reskinned ArmA1 civilians and I did their gear in Oxygen 2, so not the best modelling solution (it's all I ever used for modelling, really). The pouches are cannibalized from the ArmA1 SLA soldiers.
You really should work on this again.
very cool to see your work :)

"No one likes a forgein invader"
He says as he invades a forgein country
That’s the joke
Fun fact, the Zulus weren't even indigenous to what is now modern South Africa they were technically also foreign invaders into Khoisan country. The Khoisan were the original inhabitants of Southern Africa (Today's Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Swaziland, Angola and Zambia.) The Zulus came from the north of now South Africa and settled in the east known as Kwa-Zulu Natal these days. The boers were a mixed race of various countries in Europe of which most were Dutch. I'm mostly sad they didn't have actual South African people in the game to play as the Natal Riders and actual players to play as the Zulus. It would have made for an amazing battle. As a South African myself I really liked this video.
@@justinfourie3422 Saying the Zulus arent indigenous to South Africa is like saying Anglo-saxons aren't indigenous to the UK. The Khoi-san were never as far north as Zambia,Angola and as far east as Mozambique
@@playboicartiismydad4842 I said "what is now modern South Africa" since the zulus came from the north of it. Which in turn means that if they are considered indigenous to south africa then the white people who also moved to south africa are indigenous too, the only real indigenous peoples are the khoi-khoi and the san people.
@@justinfourie3422 Well no pretty much everyone considers the Zulu to be native South Africans. They came from slightly further North on the continent and occupied the east of South Africa. Although contact with Khoi-San people was frequent (this is how the Xhosa language developed) it was hardly the mass displacement and genocide many talk about. But then the European came hundred of years later, displaced and genocided the Khoi-San through slaughter, slavery and diseases. Then moved further and further inland until they encountered bantu people's who they then conquered or made unfair deals with and then continued to oppress these peoples all the way up till the 90s. So yes "Bantu" people are indigenous to Africa before Europeans came from a different continent and invented the borders.
RORKE'S DRIFT FUN FACT: the British soldiers at Rorke's Drift fired approximately 19,100 bullets, resulting in the outright deaths of ~300 Zulus. Upon learning this, comedian Sean Riley had this to say:
"Three-hundred deaths is what you expect from 19,100 rollerblade rentals, not 19,100 _bullets_ ."
The British were up against 3000 Zulu warriors but still managed to kill about 300 and wound 500 while still only losing 17 men.
@@nathansims8809 Not sure why you're volunteering that information, but okay.
If they were using muskets it has been shown that muskets were kind of shitty and inaccurate, thats why to use them effectively you needed to form up into a firing line so that you could blast a wall of bullets since there was almost no way to tell where the bullets would go when fired since rifling wasn't a thing yet.
Nyghtking
They weren’t. They were using martini-Henry rifles. Rifled barrels, very accurate at the time.

Also the impromtu choir! With Digby level singing and Motivation! All of it was just perfect!
This was the first fustercluck video i ever saw, a gift from the UA-cam gods, and it introduced me to both Rimmy an the good Commissar Digby.
It broke me, body an soul. This is crack for nerds.
"they can't hit an elephant from this distance" history relives itself
I actually live in KwaZulu-Natal (Natal) and the history behind rorkes drift is something we actively learnt about
Ever since I first heard his name and voice as a commissar, I always imagined Digby as being this: an officer representing her majesty’s glorious empire.

Hearing the piper play "Scotland the Brave" as someone in the line ACTUALLY sang the lyrics brought a proud tear to my eye.
I love all the references to the film Zulu. Honestly an underappreciated film and one of my favorites.

i nearly spat up my ramen noodles 🤣🤣🤣
Can we talk about how unironically awesome hearing rimmy barking volley orders and stuff like that is? I feel like if he was born in that time he'd have gone down in the history books as the guy who won rorke's drift with no casualties.

Country roads
I mean my profile picture should explain itself
Hey, people forgot my home state even existed untill our former Governor ran for vice president and said a bunch of moronic garage. Everyone still thinks we ride polar bears and live in igloos.
Last stand in the Temple of Emperor Accendant, huh?
*I HAVE DUG MY GRAVE IN THIS PLACE, I WILL EITHER TRIUMPH OR DIE!*
The guy singing along with the bagpipes made the immersion better for me.
When they had the Orthodox priest standing in for the missionary and that soldier walked up to the door to listen to him, I nearly spilled tea all over my desk. I was laughing so hard.
"Does the regimental piper know any Death Grips?"
based and DGpilled
All the fun jokes aside, this came across as a suprisingly faithful re-enactment of life and combat during that era
There is no metric that can describe how epic this is. Especially when they start to sing Men of Harlech.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Rimmy’s got a nice set of pipes on him. 10/10 would listen to again.
The amount of pure energy Rimmy puts into saying "FIRE!" is fantastic...
Love how it all went to shit real quick at the end but unfortunatly no alternate ending wear all the red coats got shanked in a church
In the stream, some of the soldiers actually survived by throwing a grenade at the Zulu's I believe? Albeit, it was only 2 or 3 of them, so a bit less impressive than historically.
Out of all the Fusterclucks shown on this channel, this is the one I came back to often. Maybe it is just the setting, how funny the skits are, or just how professional everyone appears to act compared to some others, but still, Good Show Old Bean.
Should've gone with "I am become Stando: "Crazy Stallion!""
I don't know why but there's something just...really really cool about seeing volley fire. The historic significance of volley fire combined with the background of rorkes drift just is really freaking cool
Spontaneously Singing "I want it that way" while marching along. Just gold!
News that came that morning told that the main force had been slain,
Chance for peace and justice gone, and all talks had been in vain
A prince had been offended and he had gone the path of war
Now that 1500 men are dead, and the Zulus at the door

Fight back to back!
Show them no mercy, and fire at will!
Kill or be killed,

"What better place to die than in the house of God?"
Honestly, that would have been a great place to end the video, but I guess you did need the end of the movie.
Not gonna lie, this was probably the most realistic demonstration of company/platoon tactics I've seen gamers use in ARMA3, albeit, those used in historic times.
15:49 “yes I know how to reload a revolver! I’ve seen plenty of movies!”

As a Welshman, I almost shed a tear at the "Men of Harlech" rendition ... for many reasons. Good job boyos.

The Mount & Blade Napoleonic Wars vibes are strong here. Every time you fire a volley everyone's nuts get just a *little* bit bigger

I like how through this it goes from a "FIRE!" to a "Fiah..."
Just as I was listening to Rorke's Drift by Sabaton, Rimmy uploads a video about it.

Great to finally see some of my countries past wars being rein acted, but it would be more entertaining if they taught this battle instead of the real battle in history.
Got to say, 15:50 was probably the most realistic revolver reloading animation I have ever seen.
It helps that Rimmy has the voice of a Greek god
Don't leave it at that! We missed the heroic last stand and/or embarrassing slaughter!

15:49 mm yes thats how to reload a revolver
The slightly mad priest in the hut.... lol 10/10 for movie accuracy
ngl i love the exercise in the beginning. getting everyone on board with even just walking in group and order isnt always easy. but also getting the fire commands in as its bolt actions so teaching em that only half or third fire at a time on command as to be able to sustain fire on targets instead of all at once and half hit already dead targets and get poked while reloading xDlove it. wish id be able to join some of these ops for sure. specially the historical ones.
I think the singing of the Welsh brought it all together. I thought it was perfect for the immersion.
Ah, I love this alternate version of the film. Where the Welsh defenders start singing a Backstreet Boys song. That scene always gets me XD
