    I have had nerve irritation for 28 years in and around my knees and front of my shins. I suffered knee strains at the time across both knees which has plagued me ever since. THE nerve irritation increases with use and becomes painful when at rest after use. I had a compartment leg syndrome test which ruled out pressure build. No one in the uk has ever suggested saphenous nerve pain yet my syptoms point to this condition. I really think nerve flossing which is not known in the uk very much could be the answer. The uk,really is far behind america in medicine. At the moment l am on my fourth week nerve flossing for a tight hamstring and it seems to be less tight . already. I go the advice for nerve flossing from a australian physoitherapist on line. Knees can cause so many problems to,other parts of the legs so l really appreciate your advice. I love the american know how you are streets ahead of the uk for medical treatment. Thankyou.

      I'm sorry to hear about your persistent pain and symptoms. I agree nerve flossing can be a really effective exercise for managing nerve pain and issues. Thanks for watching the video, I'm glad you received some benefit from it!

    @ 5:30, you describe almost exactly what I have had since my Knee Revision in October 23. It rarely bothers me while I am walking, but will wake me several times a night or more often, and sometimes when getting up from the stool or chair. I brought it up to the surgeon at 3 months and again at the six-month meeting, but he just gave me a Cortizone injection in the joint, and it had NO help whatsoever. It is exactly where you describe at the time I reference and is a severe burning sensation, that when I reposition my leg goes away almost immediately. Crio-neuro? oblation sounds like what I need, but do not know if it is something that he would do, or, do I need to see a Neurologist about it?

      I'm not sure an orthopedist would perform this procedure, if appropriate. Potential providers I would consider are pain management doctors, a radiologist, or neurologist.

    The pain, post revision of the right knee, occurs just on the inside of the knee where the saphenous nerve splits off to the infrapatellar nerve. It does not bother me when I am walking. It does wake me several times a night and I can usually stop it by changing positions of my leg. What does stop it completely is cutting a piece of my Lidocaine patch and placing it over the pain site. I would like to stop the pain altogether, but do not want to stop any nerve messages that may cause me future pain or lack of useful messages. Any suggestions? This is on the inner side of the knee joint. I told my surgeon about it on my 3 and 6 month post op visits and on the last one, he gave me a cortisone shot, which did nothing to ease the pain.

      Thanks for your question. Outside of surgical interventions and shots the best thing you can do for nerve pain is keep the leg and body moving. The nerve will hopefully continue to heal with time, but gentle movement and activity can typically help facilitate quicker de-sensitization and decreased irritation. Movement helps your nervous system adapt and remain mobile just like it does for muscles and other soft tissue in the body. It’s ok to work through the discomfort a little but generally rest or adjust if the pain becomes moderate or worse to avoid a flare-up of symptoms.

    What about sharp pain under the kneecap and the inside bottom?

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists

      My guess is that this pain is not from the saphenous nerve. It's hard to pinpoint the exact structure causing this pain. It may be from the kneecap itself, the bones of your shin (tibia) healing, or some healing of soft tissue structures. The main thing is that usually with time and continuing with your exercises this pain resolves over time. Of course, if concerned don't hesitate to consult your surgeon or PT.

      @@KneeReplacementTherapists Thanks, as always, for your thorough and quick response! Update: Now I noticed numbness on the lower outside of the kneecap. But I’ve also had shocking-type pains there that stop me in my tracks. This sounds exactly like what you described. So now I have both. I think this surgery causes all kinds of pains!!

      Sorry to hear about this... I recommend trying some heat to the back of the knee and maybe self-massaging with a ball or massage stick 15-30min before bed... this may not stop all the spasms but maybe calm down the muscles enough so you can get to sleep a little better... It does get better with time, just often not as soon as we'd wish. Hang in there and best wishes!

    Is it hard to freeze that nerve?

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  Рік тому

      I don't believe this is a difficulty procedure, but it does not necessarily work for everyone. I does provide a lot of information in identifying the cause of your pain if the freezing works or does not.
