  • Contrary to claims by Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), the Aum Technique of Meditation is not part of Kriya Yoga. It was not taught by Lahiri Baba and it is entirely lacking the essential elements that make Kriya Yoga super effective for internalization (pratyahara). The Kriya Yoga prescribed by Lahiri Baba is taught to Modern Kriya students. For more info, please visit modernkriya.com. #kriyayoga #yogananda #aumtechnique #om #selfrealization

    Yogananda: great master, achieved nirvikalpa samadhi, divine love - did and taught Aum texhnique..
    Random dude on UA-cam - Aum technique is not Kriya… 🙈 may be it’s not Kriya itself, but it’s a great preparation technique… anyway.. Om 🙏

      @AnuRadha-etc your comment about random dude makes me laugh 🤣. It sounds like you’re an SRF/YSS student. Lahiri Baba taught a specific progression of techniques for the First Chapter of Kriya Yoga because they’re very effective for inducing pratyahara and the Tranquil Breath. I know this because I’m an acharya in the Panchanan Bhattacharya householder lineage of Kriya Yoga and I was an SRF student previously. The arm rest technique comes from the Radha Soami tradition and was never taught by Lahiri Baba. When inserted into Kriya Yoga as taught by SRF it actually interferes with the natural progression of internalization and slows the student’s progress. It’s much more effective to do Kriya as taught by Lahiri Baba. No preparation techniques are necessary. 🙏🏻

    Yogananda does not claim Om technique is Kriya yoga...where? it is just part of a routine of techniques like Hong-Sau technique, to kind of prepare the newcomers devotees that study the lessons and eventually learn the Kriya yoga technique. Excerpt from the lesson: THIS LESSON ON THE AUM TECHNIQUE OF MEDITATION TEACHES WHAT TO DO AFTER ATTAINING SILENCE, AND HOW TO USE THE FREED ATTENTION TO DIRECT IT TOWARD GOD IN ORDER TO PERCEIVE AND COMMUNE WITH HIM THROUGH DIRECT PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.
    On the other hand, is a person practicing meditation falls asleep during it, that is not a problem of the technique but of the person who practices it.
    Master and Daya Ma talked very strongly about avoiding this bad habit

      Thanks for your comments. Certainly, one can avoid falling asleep and go into pratyahara quickly if one practices Kriya pranayama as taught by Lahiri Baba.

    I did this technique covering my eyes for almost 1 year, I didn't enjoy it. When I wake up to meditate using your techniques, I get excited to practice every morning.

      Glad to hear that things are working for you. Yogananda’s Aum Technique of meditation actually comes from the Radhasoami tradition and isn’t part of Kriya Yoga. The problem with this technique is that it doesn’t slow down the breath and consequently doesn’t affect the parasympathetic nervous system to bring the body into a low idle state. During Yogananda’s time it may have been more effective since the average resting breath rate then was lower than today’s average of 12-15 breaths per minute. Regardless, I always found it a distraction, whereas Kriya Yoga works immediately.

    Means we can hear the sound without om technique 🙏

    "All you can hear is your own bodily sounds " ? ! I do not find this statement to be true at all, and I have long since converted to a more authentic Kriya routine from the old SRF background.

      Why don’t you share your experience with this technique.

      @ModernKriya I could definitely hear Chakra sounds that were distinct and diverse. A person is supposed to listen to the om/Chakra sounds and not just chant ,so it facilitates pratyahara and absorption. I still use SRF techniques because they work for certain goals (like specific tools). You and I probably practice the same Kriyas (re Forrest). And both of us do chiging because there is no decent grounding in any yoga system, and Kriyas cost energy. Hence , either chigong or energization. Blessings.

    But to have the kryia you have to have the kryia lessons. If you don't practice the techniques and read the lessons no kryia. What do you think about that?

    • @ModernKriya
      @ModernKriya  Рік тому

      @Tirailleur The Kriya lessons are something that Yogananda invented as part of his mail order correspondence course. This is an ineffective method for teaching Kriya. Lahiri Baba taught Kriya through one to one instruction, not in the form of written instructions.

      @TheTirailleur Рік тому +1

      @@ModernKriya so how to obtain those instruction. Also isn't it suppose to be guru to disciple with ceremonies etc. The belief that master / guru accept you and will do effort to help you toward your goal etc. ?

    • @ModernKriya
      @ModernKriya  Рік тому

      @Tirailleur There doesn't need to be a ceremony for a student to establish a relationship with a teacher. There just has to be effective communication between them so the student can get help throughout their development. Dear sir, I am following Ananda organization. I have felt the same, but when I do it at the very end of my meditation, I do see the bright spinning white light in my 3rd eye. Bu I do not use board abd follow it for only 3 rounds. I have never heard aum with it. Do you recommend the yoni mudra to get yourself to see 3rd eye.

      @srividhya vinod Yes, Lahiri Baba taught yoni mudra to temporarily illuminate the kutastha, Regarding the Om vibration, it has a variety of manifestations. See my video about Kriya Yoga and the Om Vibration (ua-cam.com/video/bp54sAayumE/v-deo.html).

    I think Yogananda got it from sant mat, which is based on this practice. But sant mat is the ultimate cult, so that is unnerving. I used to do it and it always stopped circulation in my arms and made them hurt.

    • @ModernKriya
      @ModernKriya  Рік тому

      I think you're right about that. I used to find using the armrest quite uncomfortable and saw many people falling asleep on their armrests or dropping them during group meditations. Even in those early days in my meditation practice I used to wonder if Kriya Yoga is so effective, why on earth would anyone use the armrest technique? It directly interferes with pratyahara (internalization) and so is contrary to the meditation process.
