@@hediziegelmuller8228 If Ever I see You Again was a Movie that Hollywood Couldn't Make anything any Better.. Sappy... Yes, But what it expressed was Undeniable Love!
Charlotte, I worked in the Recording Studio as the Board Engineer for the Studio we used at the old Elektra Studio's on La Cienega Blvd. This Movie was the one link to my wife Minnie who was killed in 89 in an accident. I would go back to my job at AA as a Pilot after the movie (I had been on Reserve Status and welcomed the work) I was given tickets to the premier in Los Angeles and enjoyed meeting the cast including Ms Hack who ended up being a Passenger on the DC-10 I Flew from ORD (Chicago O'Hare) to DFW-SJU-SXM Twice a month. I actually offered to Upgrade her First Class Seat to a Jump Seat in the Cockpit behind my Left Seat. She declined but met my wife and daughter in San Juan Puerto Rico where we were staying at the Candadda Plaza Carib Hilton. The BetaMax Copy I was given by the Studio and transferred to Sony Beta HiFi before Digital was around and it was destroyed in Hurricane Luis/Maryland in 95 on SXM. I've missed it so much and have tried to buy it anywhere but no go...
I watched this movie when I was 16 and an exchange student in Illinois. Back then I found it heart-breaking. Just saw it again, 42 years later. It's really, really bad. But it still gave me the shivers.
I wasn’t an exchange student but I was 18. I had just broken up with my long-time sweetheart and also thought “someday”, but even though we both regret not staying together, there’s too much water under the bridge and there’s no going back. And yes, I remember it being much better than it is.
Thank you for sharing this film. Sappy, yes, acting, eh.. But for some strange reason I love it! Saw it in when it came out with my mom (God love her, we were the only people there! She is gone now) so this movie brings back alot of memories. What is sadder is watching it and knowing how his life ended. For him and those women he mislead and abused.
Thanks for recording this movie I love the sound track and believe it or not this is my favorite movie. It is sappy but it brings tears of enjoyment to me every time I view it. Thanks for adding to my life and introducing me to a wonderful movie. To those who say it is one of the worst movies ever, I say, YOU ARE WRONG!!!! DENNIS WATKINS
Wow! Never knew this film ever existed. Stumbled upon it by accident; looking at "Charlies Angels", and the story on Shelley Hack. She really did turn out to be a very good actress; in spite of her critics. The overall acting in this film however; was pretty sub-par at best; but I still somehow enjoyed it. Especially enjoyed seeing how New York use to look in the 70's; with the old model buses and all. Lol! Damn! I Miss going to FAO Schwarz, Radio City Music Hall, Tad's steakhouse, and OrBach's department store.
They probably had a whole meeting about the end scene when Shelly Hack walks in. They were probably wondering if she should come in empty handed or carrying a few wrapped gifts, should they be small or big or what...they went with a very big present and some smaller ones. What the hell was in the big one? She probably got him a nice new bathrobe from SEARS or maybe a toaster oven from Fedco. I love the way he gets up in slow motion. Regular motion wasn't good enough? Every time I watch this movie I notice something else horrible about it. But I keep watching it.
Arguably the sappiest movie ever made. Esp the ending; Its like something out of an old Frank Capra movie. Trouble is, I love it. The dweeb gets the girl!
+trha2222 Its about 4 miles long and there's a museum of art there as well. 4 streets cut across it. I think you can still take a carriage ride around it but I'm not sure.
+trha2222 Actually shorter then that. 2.5 miles (4 km) long and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) wide. Looks a lot bigger from the air but Manhattan Island is just 13.4 miles (21.6 km) long.
i totally enjoyed this film so the critics be damned! say all you want to say against joe brooks who dare cast himself as an everyday joe opposite an outstanding fashionable beauty like shelley hack but they were both generally okay... this isn't shakespeare or kramer vs. kramer... so, i'd say eat your hearts out!!!
The movie is a satire on the musical commercial business. The songs sound like commercials of the time. Come Share My Life sounds like an 70s wine commercial.
we do still have his incredible movies and songs...you just watched some of them! yes, i wish he had not hurt all those trusting young women but he was a very sick man, always was...when he was younger and rich, it was easy to get all the girls...they were lining up...when he was old and washed up, he went to extraordinary lengths to get the adoration and it was very twisted indeed. he also loved the young hookers but abused them as well and got kicked out of the escort agency! poor nicholas brooks is rotting in riker's island!
I see a lot of bad comments about this movie thats ok i love it think it is a classic love story. As for Joe Brooks the man was a musical genus no question about it what a score and the ending is something else.
To my knowledge, it doesn't exist in DVD format, however various places sell the VHS. You can always download all the parts from youtube and put them on a DVD.
anybody has a copy of "the finishing touch?" apparently another missing gem of a movie (for television?) starring arnold vosloo, michael nader and shelley hack... not a love story, though, more of the action-suspense genre...
I cannot imagine the screenings and how his friends must have come up with the biggest lies after the movie. "Oh Joe, I cried the whole time, absolutely wonderful!"
I truly enjoyed this film!!!
And, yes, I know what it feels like to be afraid of trying to love again!!!
Thank you!!!
I like it
thank you very much

This movie is about genuine love getting a second chance, extremely romantic, I love it wishing I could go back 20yrs

Shivers because you can't believe how dreadful it is, or because it still hits you emotionally?
A movie about love getting a second chance. Looks like what you would see in a soap opera.

Its so sad to see such wonderful talent such as Brooks end in such tragedy. RIP Joe Brooks.

Thank you so much for sharing this movie. I watched it a long time ago and thought what a great love story.
This is the stuff true romance is made of. thanks!
Joe Brooks to the choir: "C'mon people, you gotta SCREAM the lyrics to "Come Share My Love! Louder! LOUDER!! They can't hear it in Singapore!"

One of the most incredibly inept and overwhelmingly horrible movies ever made.

bravo!
I'm never quite sure I'm in a 1970s romance movie until I hit the dreaded "montage".
