  • Not every day on the Camino is filled with stunning vistas and endless energy. Sometimes you just have to put one foot in front of the other and keep going, no matter how much your body protests. That's exactly what I faced today, battling nausea, dizziness and pure exhaustion as I trudged along the flat, monotonous paths of the Meseta. With no albergues available in my planned stops, I had no choice but to push on, racing against other pilgrims for the few remaining beds. Join me as I dig deep to (try to) find the strength to carry on, even when every step feels like torture. The Camino doesn't always let you rest when you need it most. But with some grit, determination and a little luck, I'll make it to my destination and live to hike another day. Stick around for an honest look at the realities of long-distance walking.
So come walk along with me…

Hello! I first encountered your videos about a month ago when you posted your second Camino experience: Camino de Santiago Revisited. I must say “You had me at” about 2 minutes into it and then I couldn’t stop for anything 😊. Truth be told I usually multi-task (cooking, cleaning) while watching UA-cam videos but this time it was different. I was so hooked that I put on my AirPods and took you with me when I did my daily walk in the park that day. It was interesting to hear your crunching steps as I was walking and felt like I was walking along with you 😂. I don’t usually make comments online but I have to say I was so impressed with your work, your superb narration, musings, pictures, artworks (drawings). You are very talented and commend you especially for your excellent command of the English language❣️ All these said, that long previous video had a happy, feel good vibe in it. I felt your joy individually and in the company of your friends. There was so much laughter and fun there. On the other hand, I feel your sadness and pain in these new video diaries. But so honest and true. I’m sorry you’re not well physically and this affects your overall demeanor. I agree with others who have been advising you to take a rest . Please. I surely appreciate your work and I wish you the best! Hopefully you’ll feel better and well-rested in the next few days and we’ll see a smile on your face soon❣️Take care❣️

thank you for your very kind comment (especially so since you usually don’t comment online). I very much appreciate the words and your thoughts… and that’s my little videos are able to capture you and that way. Despite my tiny audience, this is the kind of reaction that makes all the work worthwhile, you know?
      I dig your Airpods/Walking technique 😅
I have actually planned to do an audio recording of an entire day walking - getting up in albergue, breakfast, walk, coffee, walk, lunch, walk.. etc. - I hope I will get around to it, but it could be something interesting.
Thank you for pointing out my command of the English language… it is something that is dear to me, since it is my favorite language. The love for it was instilled by a teacher in high school, go figure!
My third Camino is interesting - most definitely very different from the first two.
Much more introspective, while simultaneously being physically very challenging. I kind of wanted a different experience, and I got it - and then some 😂.
But that’s Camino… it moves in mysterious ways…
I just had a great night’s sleep in a beautiful apartment in Leon, and I already feel much better. I will be kicking back here for a few days before I hit the road again reenergized.
Again, thank you so much for your comment, It is hard to put in words how much these things mean to me.
      cheers! 🥂

The Camino isn't all baby goats, rain storms and lush green. You've put in a lot of hard work and something got you while you were depleted. I'm sorry you're sick, but you'll be back better than ever. The sun will rise again.

@@storiestellr Have you considered visiting a doctor? You have something pretty powerful. I know you are tough, but you might be in that apartment for a week.

Dark sky, mood and long empty road. A tough day and watch. Sounds like you have a viral infection or something like that. Rest my friend..

yeah i figured it must have been bad food or water. taking a few days off in Leon should help matters… first real night of good sleep is already a step in the right direction!
