Wow … loved it. I think pilgram-ing thru the countryside and then dipping into a little village is the best of both worlds. I love it. Seeing the little communities is far better than the grand touristy cities.
Great stuff Jay, It’s been a pleasure to bump into you on the trail. I think the community on the journey is what makes it a Pilgrimage rather than a hike. Buen Camino to both you and Tina , hope to see you in the road. Joe from England
This is going to be awesome!!! I've known of the trail but never saw a video of the pilgrimage. So beautiful!! Seeing all the sheep and it reminded me of Wales. I was there in May and hiked some of the coastline trail, it is gorgeous. 850 miles,
Thank you Jay and Tina. My partner and i are planning to do this walk next year and i have been watching some videos of people such as yourselves doing the Camino . Your video stands out as being informative and detailed as well as showing real life of those participating , some nice gritty stuff that everyone else seems to gloss over . Ill watch part 2 tomorrow :-)
Oh Jay, you captured so much! It made me teary eye remembering my walk. You had a great shot of the hostal burguete, where Ernest Hemingway stayed for long periods of time! if you have the time, you would love Muxia, a days walk from finisterre. That is really the end, after that, you would have to swim 😂. Thanks for sharing your Camino. Buen camino peregrinos! 🥾🥾
So far we are still planning on going to Muxia. It's been a great experience so far. I just hope I can continue to capture those special moments along the path. I hope the videos do your memory justice.
Feels like I'm back visiting with sn old friend after following you over the entire AT. Of course that includes Tina. Looking forward to sharing this adventure with you two.
Just stumbled upon your channel-outstanding!!! Such beautiful presentation. Going to follow you through then watch your other long distance hiking adventures. Thank you!
Excellent mini-documentary! I followed your AT journey last year and now I'm watching your Camino adventure from the AT. What a lovely pilgrimage... may have to add that to my bucket list.
So excited to follow you both. You both were my absolute favorites on the AT last year. Good luck, and most of all, enjoy every bit of it. Beautiful people❤
Congrats on another start to an epic adventure. When I was over there in 2018 hygiene was a big issue. Bathrooms and latrines were just overwhelmed. Stay as clean as you can.
Suban!
Hi there! We met one lady that was doing the Norte then came down south since it rained a bunch on her. This is on September though. Hope the weather works for you! I hear it's more scenic but with lots more climb and a little quieter.
As to the "You are about to die" guy. I walked my second Camino with a bloke who went late on the steeper route the year before, slipped, broke his leg and had to lay at the foot of the slope till the first pilgrims the day after. I have done both variants, and to be frank I do recommend the less steep version. Its more than 800m additional I believe, but it definitely is the safer way to go. To be fair the steep is only bad during the initial descent for like 1km (maybe less if I recall correctly). So its not a matter of life or death, but it is an added risk.
@@JayWandersOut thanks so much. It was amazing to get a reply from you. Love all your videos, you're such a likeable guy. My favourite hiking videos UA-cam by far. Best of luck.
I have a friend who is on the Camino right ahead of you. If you run into Jack from Virginia, tell him hi! He is two weeks ahead of you so I doubt you will meet him, but it will be fun comparing his hike with yours.
Hi Jay, can you confirm this for me? I am going via Orisson to Roncesvalles. Does the tar road continue all the way to Roncesvalles or is the only route over the mountain on the dirt path. I keep reading that if the weather is rainy to take the road. Confused if they mean the road via Valcarlos. Thank you j
At 43.026649, -1.295389 the Camino diverges from the road but many people take the road since it's supposedly easier. Honestly the trail isn't hard at all if you've ever done any actual trail hiking and you don't have physical ailments that could make it difficult. Either way they get you to Roncesvalles. Have a great time!
Great intro to the series. It looks like you're in a hiking bubble. A lot of other hikers. Most of the trail so far appears to be an easy hike (in comparison to most of your hikes). With so many towns to walk through, how much food do you need to carry?
Good catch! 😀 We carry 1 loaf of bread over 2 days sometimes, at least a bar or 2 of some type to snack while walking, and a bag of chips all the time. We also have several tubes of electrolytes since they're hard to come by. You don't need much food, just snacks and food for lunch but there are also cafes all along the way so you can buy food. The food is pretty cheap as well surprisingly. We like to carry bread so we can take a break anywhere we want but stopping at cafes is often nice to meet up with other pilgrims.
Hey Jay , long time subscriber, I'm totally in to do the Camino as back in 96 I was trekking all over Europe not just the Camino , now at 64 it's now or never , I want the earliest start date as I'm not into crowds, any suggestions? PismoRichy PCT88..
It's illegal to camp almost everywhere but if you're willing to take the risk and abuse your privileges as a visitor to the country you may get away with it. One person we talked to was complaining about kids playing at a park until 11pm keeping them awake but they saw nothing ironic in their complaint in that they were breaking the law and the kids were just playing in a park.
You have a great voice for narrating these videos. Very calming. Thank you.
Thank you Jay and Tina for taking all of us on another journey.
Wow … loved it. I think pilgram-ing thru the countryside and then dipping into a little village is the best of both worlds. I love it. Seeing the little communities is far better than the grand touristy cities.
Thank you for your nice dokumentation. Lots of memories came up when I saw your video. Very well done. Thank you so much for sharing....

What an excellent video! I loved everything about it. Can’t wait to watch others from you. Thank you 😊
I hiked this in 2012. It’s wonderful to see the familiar route. I took the steep route and survived!
So excited for this series! So. Many. Sheep! The music is spot on & your editing🤌
Jay and the Camino! Best of both worlds! I hope to walk the Camino next year. Thanks for sharing!

Buen Camino to both you and Tina , hope to see you in the road.

I’m am absolutely loving this pilgrimage in Spain! Glad to tag along with you and Tina. 👏
I watch a lot of videos about the Camino and with yours I particularly liked your commentary.
Thank you so much for these videos. Someplace I have never been or never will be. So beautiful and different than where lI live in New Hampshire.
Thanks Jay! I’ve been looking forward to this.
Glad to be following you on this new adventure. We followed your AT hike and are now on that trail ourselves. Thanks so much for the great videos 😊

Great video Jay. I can’t believe my pilgrimage starts in one week!!! Very exciting indeed
So glad you guys decided to hike the Camino! Beautiful videography too.
So lovely and it's great to be joining you both on a hike again. Keep your eyes open for bedbugs
Keeping a lookout and so far so good.
So excited to see you hike the Camino. We tried to watch other videos but they weren’t detailed enough. We know you show everything. Buen Camino!
Beautiful Jay! Stay safe & enjoy! 😊
So excited. I completed Leon to Santiago. Such a great trip. Hope you enjoy it.
The Camino is on my bucket list. This looks like such a cool trail.
Hey guys we hope to do the Camino next year so we'll love traveling along with you. Thanks 👍

So excited to follow you both. You both were my absolute favorites on the AT last year. Good luck, and most of all, enjoy every bit of it. Beautiful people❤
I’m enjoying your Camino videos. Well done! Did you have a packing list video?
I’m going back to the French Camino this upcoming July.
Good video with some good views, with lot of old Town, so let's keep on hiking 😊
Lovely!

Skywalker and Shera here! Super excited to see your videos of the Camino. We are hoping to do El Norte next fall. Blessings. Buen Camino!

I had planned on doing the Portuguese Costal Route this year but, ended up having ankle surgery. Plan on going next year.
Enjoy
Buen Camino!

Fantastic videos Jay the best out there. Love the trekking poles whatever brand they are, does anyone know?
Leki Cressida FX Carbon. I really like that they fold away very short and very quickly.

The Camino seems so different from the long trails, but I’m super excited to see your journey.
did you use your inreach mini? did it help? My husband wants me to bring mine,...but I'm not convinced. I value your opinion.

Hi Jay and Tina
Curious to know how y'all book your overnight lodging

BUEN CAMINO Jay :)
Wonder what date you started.
First week of September.

What time of year are (did you) walk the Camino?
Started Sept 4th, still on it.
Nice. But I can’t imagine someone in the US Saying you can’t call this a Pilgrimage, you got to call it a Hike.
Happy Trails
you look pretty much the same since your PC days...
two new zealands? they are called new zealanders
Can u get away with cowboy camping?

Não entendo inglês, mas vou matar minhas saudades 👣👣👣👣
Fans burn more energy than cool you off. Don't do that!
A pilgrimage is a state of mind. You get to decide if your trip matches other people’s idea of your trip.
What, sheep poop and no video?
Who cares? Money grifters.
