I worked at Westwood Music back in the days Joni Mitchell used to rehearse there with Jacko. When I met him, he let me play his bass. (The so called bass of doom) The strings were so high off the fingerboard it was unplayable to us mortals. I said how do you play this thing? He said something like, it works for me. He was basically a homeless guy at the time. Unbelievable musician!

The issue is not all with just one person . But JACO was discarded and forgotten … in the moments he was most in need
If it could happen to JACO … then there’s no wonder it happen to so many others … (military veterans ..:: an others ….. etc.:: )
Couldn’t there hav even something in place by the Musician’s Union that could have helped ?
We all nights records … listened to radios …. And etc ::::
How could this have happened to such a noted figure ?
He deserved better . Even the least among us deserve better
This world (made it’s systems …) is not worthy
Beside his music .,.. I keep feeling maybe if a kind of foundation & organization naked after JACO can be founded .. to further help human souls in distress … 🙏🏽 ?

Words of JOE ZAWINUL that has remained in my mind concerning JACO … JOE saying that what impressed him most about JACO was his HUMANITY
JACO was very BOLD in his love & compassion
Whatever ego he may have had that drove him to such noted grandiose did not take his love &!compassion away from him

THE TRUTH IS THAT WE AS HUMAN CNA HE TOO BUSY …. That we just don’t take enough time out to reach out where we can & should
If it could happen to JACO then there’s not wonder if cna happen to so many other souls in need .
      In need of HUMANS REGARDS
If there was as compassion directed back to JACO … that I believe he had … maybe he could have benefited
When we honor more our seniors and disabled better .. then we may be able to shell
      Have them sprung us longer
My father was my hero … and when he developed what was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s…. Yet he was still loved and worthy of honor that he gave all his life .. to souls in the combination that he served … ( as a minister & pastor - preacher …)
And now presently … I take care of my mom … now with dementia ….
I think if this certain proverb in the BIBLE :
“A good neighbor near by is better than a brother far off in the time of one’s calamity .” - (Proverbs )
The Cimmunity Department … of any church is most vital …
This world always falls short …. I think faith based communities are to make a difference … and be a light into the world …
JACO has a very profound spiritual side & convictions .
Of course hind sight is often 20/20 vision … But looking back … the sad and tragic lost could have been avoided
Man … anyone may look back … and think & say ,
“MAN …. JACO should need to sneak into any club …. Anyone there could have paid his entrance fee with honor and joy .
If I were performing anywhere and I would’ve heard that JACO wanted to come in and hang at one of my gigs , immediately I would wanna add him to my guest list …. Or just pay his was in out my own pocket …:
What could the club owner just let him in freely ?
Someone like JACO souls have been allowed to enter any jazz establishment freely in my opinion …. For he had given way mire than he’s gotten back in return
Any members his family (whether musicians or not ) should receive noted honorary regard as well … just in simple human decency … in honor and remembrance …
In the BIBLE , King David gave such considerable refard towards Jonathan’s crippled son . Because his father was such a valiant hero … and best friend of King David
In this world … there’s a major problem of AMNESIA …
We don’t remember when we especially mostly should
It a just a Humane Courtesy … of simple Human Decency

    Wonderful account of Jaco's life.
    One criticism:
The background tune was a bit too loud & distracting.

Early in his career Jaco joined 'Wayne Cochran And His C.C. Riders'. Onstage Cochran was sort of a combination of Elvis, James Brown, and Ric Flair. Years ago at a record shop I used to go to the owner pulled out a Half Speed Master of Weather Reports' Heavy Weather and asked if I was interested in buying it. 'YES!!!!".

He told people, he was the greatest bass player in the world - from Jaco: The Extraordinary Tragic Life of Jaco Pastorius - "After Mary was born, we were in the hospital looking at her through the glass in the maternity ward," says Gregory. "Jaco turned to me with a real serious expression on his face and said, `Well, this is it. Now I gotta be the greatest bass player that ever hit the planet."

09:13 Sad to see him deteriorate towards the end. He was definitely not mentally ok seeing that he tried to fill his apartment up with water like a pool. Omg.

The Tragidy with JACO is the failure of the system . There was no system in place to cater to his need .
    This world is unworthy
An artist, a musician , a personality like JACO should never have been homeless . The system was not in proper structure , maybe ?
(But then again … if it could happen to JACO , then there’s no wonder any lesser noted soul could be doomed in this world …)
JACO was the Greatest in what he did .
Why couldn’t he at least gotten some disability coverage … ‘temporality ‘ at least ?
Such an artist … such an individual …. A national treasure ..: international treasure

long before fender finally got around to a tribute jazz bass, tokai made one- I have two of them, & they're fabulous instruments. they're in the 81-82 tokai catalogue, & while jaco isn't explicitly mentioned, they are clearly modelled on the BoD: metal p-bass knobs, no guard, & a dark board with faint lines & dot markers, like the frets have been pulled out.

He was definitely a monster bass player and a big influence of mine. But I wonder if his own big ego is what killed him.
