How long will it be before they find a way to come up with solar powered vehicles to obsolete electric and gas powered vehicles ? And if this is feasible how much solar power will it take to keep the vehicle running to make a round trip ? Iam not a scientist , but if we can use solar power for houses for electricity , why not cars ? This is only if they haven't already , is my question . Nice to dream .
Not feasible. You would need a solar panel at least as large as a football field - if not larger - to provide anywhere near the current required to drive a vehicle. And even if you could make a solar powered car work, what do you do if you wanted to drive anywhere at night? How would you drive through a long road tunnel?
EV batteries for long trips are 50-70kWh, a household solar system is usually only 5-7kW (peak). That's significantly larger than you can fit on a car. There are some with solar panels but they're only for adding 10 miles a day at best.
