@joeygonzo it screams from tool vibration. the finger for the fine cuts is long and narrow. To the poster: grind the tool leaving more material on the right side of the tool and relieve it so that it just clears the finest detail you want to cut. the tool will stay sharp longer as well.
extend your cutting edge, and fine stone it after that and the noise will be gone. plus speed up your turn speed, at least 2,500 - 3000 . then you get a much cleaner finish
I would pay ten times the amount for a Spindle made by hand. This lowers the beauty of handmade wood products, down to cheap Chinese knockoffs... sorry if that hurt someone's feelings, well, not really :-)
There is nothing wrong with using a lathe since lathes have been around for hundreds of years, the only difference is that lathes nowadays are powered by electricity not your feet. Where I do have a problem is that this is all computer controlled. It is a lazy way to mass produce spindles. I turn my own spindles using a cheap lathe and a nice set of chisels, nothing like turning your own spindles by hand. I would never purchase a system like this that does everything for you.

You need a 2 cutter system, one roughing tool and a finishing tool.
