- Sinbad speaks out for the first time after suffering a massive stroke in 2020. The 67-year-old comedian, who at one point couldn't speak or show signs of basic mobility, shares a heartfelt message to his fans on Instagram after recently making a virtual appearance at 'A Different World's HBCU College Tour. He also gives an update on where he is in his recovery process.

A stroke is not easy to come back from. I am so happy to see Sinbad's recovery going well.
True. Six years post stroke. It took a year of PT for me to learn how to walk and talk again & even though I still have mobility issues, I’m beyond grateful.
@@dyoung2739 You seem to talk good now. I always wondered about stroke can it make people slow? Why do they not know how to talk or walk? Does it effect memory of even their family, life ect?
@@ravenc4912 Strokes affect different people in different ways. Part of your brain dies so that maybe why the part of the memory’s that’s lost. The good news is that with hard work & persistence,the brain can rewire itself to restore the things that you’ve lost. It depends on which side is affected,too. My right side was affected which was a blessing because I’m left handed so I never lost my ability to write.

I think the life I had experiencing the word and faithfulness of God has me convinced you can and WILL BE COMPLETELY HEALED. While studying psychology I had at least 3 professors tell I should write a book or become a comedian. I was healed from lupus/MS during my divorce and so many other miracles I’ll have to write a book. I praise God for healing you🙌🏾😊

I had a stroke on January 10 2024. When I woke up 2 days later I could not walk, I had to learn how to walk again. Today I'm doing a lot better and getting stronger everyday. I'm happy to see Sinbad is doing a lot better. He is giving me and others like me hope. And yes, miracles do happen! God bless you all.

How does that work ? Like did you brain forget? Or did you remember how to walk but your legs just wouldn’t move when you tried to move then

Keep the Faith. GOD puts things in our lives, struggles, troubles, tribulations and such but he never gives us to much as long as you keep HIM first! GOD BLESS YOU!

my husband had a stroke in August '23 and he and his friend who has had 3 strokes are starting a local support group for stroke survivors aand partners to help them regain their sense of identity since this devastating experience. Good prgress SInbad, and God bless!

I had a stroke as well. Let’s just say it’s the hardest thing i had to overcome. Had to learn to walk talk and eat by myself all over again. I am blessed 5 year’s later ❤️

And that’s exactly what happened to me several years ago. I met Sinbad and his son in Atlanta at the airport. I turned around, and behind me was Sinbad. I shook his hand and told him I was a huge fan. One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. God bless Sinbad as he continues his road to recovery.

Yes miracles do happen. My husband had two strokes and he's still walking, talking and was finally able to give me a bear hug. The Lord is amazing for protecting my husband😊

I'm glad your husband is alright, but miracles are akin to magic. The human body is more resilient than people think. What would be truly miraculous is something truly remarkable happening that can't possibly ever happen under any circumstances ever. I'd be more impressed if someone having a stroke just spontaneously stopped having the stroke like nothing happened.

Sinbad will forever be loved. When I was a young model, this man showed up to my fashion show to support me, all because I asked him to. He didn't know who I was from a bag of beans. Even tried to connect me to Kadeem Hardison's mom, Bethan, who was a modeling agent. I already had a meeting with her though through someone else. But, regardless, all I can tell you is this man is the real deal. We love you, Sinbad.

My friends and I have seen Sinbad so many times and he always had us laughing in tears! He had us cracking up without cursing or putting down any group of people- now that’s comedic skill.

I absolutely love this man. He is proof that comedians can be funny without being dirty. I was a college student in late 89 and the early 90s and A different world was a huge part of my life. He was the coolest RA ever and he guided the students like a big brother and they trusted him. One of my favorite comedic movies is Houseguest with him and the great late Phil Hartman. I really loved when he hosted The Apollo. I’m so happy he is getting better, we need his spirit and attitude around. Hope to see him on the screen again one day. Get well Sinbad!!!!!
Exactly 1,000% agree can do stand-up comedian without being vulgar. Very few comedians can do it.
That's so encouraging. Ironically, one of his funniest comedy pieces years ago was him talking about when looking for someone to date, seeking a lady who recognizes the signs of stroke. I'm glad he is recovering.

My mother met Sinbad at the V.A. hospital when she was on her break. He was very nice to my mother and even got a photo of him back around 1993. My prayers go out to him and wish him a speedy recover.

I met Sinbad when he was on the verge of stardom. Me and my girlfriend was in a long line to get in a new club that was opening up in LA. Sinbad was in line behind us. I told him that he was well known and they should let him in without waiting in line. He said, "you're right, I'm famous, I'm going in but hold my place". He left with his head up and chest out. About 2 mins later, he came walking back with his head down looking sad. I asked, "what happened"? He said, "they told me to get in line". He had us crackin up. This happened at least 40 yrs ago and I'll never forget that night....Thanks Sinbad and get better soon 🙏🏽

I’m in my 40’s now, but as a kid I would watch his comedy with my parents. He kept it funny and relatable on many levels. As an adult I car relate to his stand up even more. I thankful to God he is recovering and keeps his Joyful spirit going. Keep fighting my brother!
