She's such an incredibly strong person who I have always admired. I truly hope that, while there is no 'getting over' this kind of loss, she has a sense of peace. That voice crack in Jimmy's voice broke me. Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare and that was such a real strike of raw empathy from him.
I have admired her and her talent for decades & I’m happy to see that this terrible situation hasn’t broken her, but I seriously hope that TV hosts, reporters and all that don’t expect her to put that pain on display indefinitely.

Actually, depression is not a life sentence for everyone. For many people it can be a temporary phase. And while clinical depression is a disease, just like physical diseases we can make lifestyle choices, habits of thinking and being that can mitigate and even heal.

Feel for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. My wife and I experienced the same with our boys. No loving parents has the tools to deal with such things without therapy. After therapy, when my wife and I built up enough emotional understanding and acceptance... We had full-out conversations and left everything open on the table with our close friends and relatives. We told them to ask ANY questions they wanted. We allowed the conversation to take on its own life. So many of them were scared to mourn with us for fear of making us feel worse. I’ve come to respect this women so much through out her career. She’s such a strong individual and never strays from who she is. Even when tragedy strikes she still has grace and such composure! God Bless!🙏🏻
I’ve been living through depression since I was a child. I have my highs and lows. I try not to live in a space of defeat. Because depression doesn’t go away nor does other mental health disorders. It’s a battle but I try to allow the good out weigh the bad. I keep my mind busy and my thoughts happy so that I don’t give up on myself. 😢
That's powerful and so are you. You just have to keep going you're worthy of a life filled with love and joy and peace and patience mental solitude. ♥ ♥ ♥

I understand, I have suffered since my late 20's and I am 75!!! I amaze myself. I have been to every institution that helps depression and I still deal with it.
Please hang in there like I have. I have this silly idea that we are going to be treated in a beautiful way in heaven,, mostly because we have had to carry on here on Earth🙏 Blessings to you.
Listen to the Audio book on here "The Power of Intention" By Dr. Wayne Dyer, it saved my life ❤
One more reason why I luv Jimmy Kimmel he's a real kind considerate person to his friends.. I'm so sorry to hear that about her only child I couldn't fathom the thought of that...she was amazing on the show and I luv the way she comforted him too it was truly genuine and heart felt to watch😊
That has got to be the saddest situation a mother goes thru. My prayers and thoughts are with you Regina.
Jimmy is such an empathizing man, I love his heart for showing his empathy for her loss. We all cried for her two years ago, we all cry now with her. She’s walking a new path in life no parent wants to walk, a path without their child.
Depression is a horrible disease that can never go away.
It really doesn’t for many . It can be managed day by day for many but not all, sadly.
It's a mental illness@@Frank-mt2hf
Actually, depression is not a life sentence for everyone. For many people it can be a temporary phase. And while clinical depression is a disease, just like physical diseases we can make lifestyle choices, habits of thinking and being that can mitigate and even heal.
Depression is not a life sentence for everyone. For many people it is a short-term phase, each person's experience is different. And while clinical depression is a disease, just as with physical diseases one can make lifestyle choices and ways of thinking and being that can mitigate and even heal.
When I see her on tv or commercials, I
wonder how she is doing.
She lost her only child.
Spirit of grief, it is horrible.
I pray God eases her pain.
Give her strength and comfort her.
Some people die from a broken heart like Sinead OConnor.
The news said Sinead died of natural causes, she died from a broken heart. She also lost a son to suicide.
Scientists have said Broken Heart Syndrome is real, people who suffered a lost of a loved, usually it is a child, parent or spouse that have been together for a long time.
GOD 🙏 BLESS YOU, REGINA... SENDING LOVE AND PRAYERS from Savannah Ga
So so sad. RIP Ian ❤🙏 May you rest in eternal peace and love.
The loss of a child under any circumstance is heartbreaking. It has been 40 yearsn since we lost our daughter Jennifer and the pain and sadness is still here. Prayers to you and your family..
Jimmy has such a big heart
I lost my son the same way on July 26, 2019. I don't think it is something you can ever 'get over.' I still hurt every day. But I'm finally trying to live and be happy and grateful for what I do have. 🙏
That's awful. I'm sorry to hear it. Sending you love and well wishes 🫂
Jimmy's been through a lot of family trauma also. He felt her pain.
He sure did!!!
Jimmy is one of the good guys. I am glad he show her respect .
Like what?
@@disneytoysr4fun975his son nearly died from a heart condition
As an 80's kid, I never thought that the young girl from 227 would grow up to be such a beautiful person!
She's stronger than I'll ever be. I never had children for fear of losing them....❤
Aww, her son was so young and seemed like a sweetheart. 😢
It hits different when you’re a father or a mother, that’s why Jimmy chocked up. He, nor any parent, can fathom what that must be like but it must HURT LIKE HELL. Regina is pure class though, grabbing Jimmy’s hand to comfort him. God Bless them.
She's a very strong woman. Congrats to her to handle this drama with so much dignity.
Jimmy showed what a good friend to Regina and it was so sweet Regina reached out to let him know its ok im good at this moment and i love you for all the caring and support you have given me last several years. Will always be grateful ❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
Aaah my heart 😭😭😭😭may you always remember all the beautiful things your son is. Thank you for being so loving and compassionate through your own pain
I have an only child (son) and idk what I'd do. She's so strong. But I know it's been difficult. Lord continue to bless Regina and her family. 🙏
Aww his voice breaking made me cry. Regina is so strong!! ❤
Regina is as strong as she is beautiful. Can’t imagine what she’s going through. Hats off to Jimmy for his sincere emotion and compassion.
Very very touching and sincere moment. ❤❤
This is heart wrenching to see. Jimmy being saw raw and vulnerable and Regina being strong and consoling Jimmy is sweet but heartbreaking to see.😢😢
He adores her and carried the pain with her 😭
I adore her!! Watched her since "227" So sad she lost her son. NO mom or dad no one should have to bury their child. 😢💛
Two of my favorite people. Both are national treasures.
Bless her heart. Your sweet son would be so proud of you Regina.❤
This brings me to tears! God Bless you Regina and your family ❤
I really look up to all those who have lost a son or daughter and continue life forward i think im not as strong and i don't know what I would do,my condolences to everyone out there who are or been in this situation 🙏🙏🙏🙏
People need to stop asking her about this tragedy. She chose to sit with Robin Roberts, but the red carpet is not the time to ask a mother about her dead son. She's literally at work-have some decency and sensitivity.
It’s a catch 22. If no one asks people will say that they are being insensitive. I’m sure questions were approved beforehand
THANK YOU!!!
You still need to learn what care is..also, there's no red carpet
@@kidrobot. I don’t think they get the questions beforehand if they’re stopped at like a premiere at end of the video, which is probably what the comment is referring to
Yes, she stated she wants to move forward. Listen and respect those wishes. ❤❤❤
If anyone out there is struggling with depression, I want you to know that you can come out and there is no shame in seeking help.
Blessings to you Ms. King and blessings to all of you!
💛💛💛💛💛 thank you for sharing him with us Regina and I am wishing you love, peace and healings 💛💛💛💛
How they all look the same
Mother son and sister
Amazing work of the man upstairs.
Praying for her and her beautiful family
The interview she did for GMA was touching. She sums it up when she says, " it was Ian's choice. I have to respect it." And i loved it when she also said, " Grief is love with nowhere to go."
THIS. I respect, appreciate and love her for sharing these thoughts and feelings publicly.
May God bless her , she has been America’s sweetheart in the south suburbs of Chicago since 227 . I love her and wish her nothing but the best ❤❤❤
Even reading this story has me full and blinking back tears. I saw the Jimmy Kimmel show with the courageous Regina King showing her strength in moving on after such a horrific loss…..your child, your babyboy not being able to fight past the demons that will destroy your mind and soul….my God I can relate with the depression but he was a baby, I can imagine how much this kind of loss has hurt. I pray that Father God will protect and guide Regina through this storm of life and continue to grace her with His mercy and abundant blessings going forward, amen. 🙏🏽😔🕊️💛💛💛💛
My son died two years ago and the awkward silence amongst my friends and family gets to be overwhelming for me, and I imagine for them as well! 😢
Room full of adults full out crying for the better part of 2 hours. It helped tremendously.
Awwww mannnnnn her son was soooo cute ❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢 Strong lady, very strong.❤❤
As a women of her age and son of her sons age my hod there could be no deeper cut as a mother. I’m so glad she is fighting to live , fighting to smile, fighting to work, fighting to love and be loved.
Empathetic Jimmy.
I knew I love this guy for some reason, he is one of the greatest❤
Wow, what a woman, so strong. My son took his life June 28/22. His was a similar story to her son’s, trying everything and nothing worked. I’m so grateful she’s speaking out and showing others how horrific it is to lose our child. ❤
😢😢my condolences can't imagine what it takes to pull through after a tragedy such as that...glad your okay 🙏🏾
Condolences and prayers, keep the faith!🕊️🌹❤️
Such a strong lady and Jimmy is one of the few hosts that really wears his heart on his sleeve. I remember when he talked about his son's heart procedure and health care in general, this segment was really touching.
