@@McGeezle I'm not much into Half Likes and the Woo shooter that I've played are Severed Steel and Trepang2(literally finished it just now as of writing) Severed steel is quite good, I like the flow like water modifier honestly should have been the default And Trepang2, the combat is fucking amazing, the horror is alright, it's really short, they should have just cut out the side missions entirely in exchange for 1-2 more campaign missions as they are just hoard mode maps in disguise I also like most of the bossfights
Benefit? They are made for You to have Fun! Not for shareholders to get a new Cabin in the Woods Thank's for a Sweet new Video to watch on a rainy Thursday Zlim! (Also yes, edited in here: Brats Boom Corner! The best place on the Interweb!)
This a really great video! Another benefit I'd say is, generally, the streamlining of visual clutter. In hyper-realistic games you can just get lost combing through the detail, especially if there's a high level of interactivity. Sometime you just aint got time for that!
Thank you! yeah that is a good point! A lot of the modern "high" graphic games tend to be very cluttered and hard to spot both things and enemies in, a much better "unrealistic" enemy visualization offers a much more fun game
There seems to be some kind of confusion between level of detail and having to look in 1000000000 barrels a la Dead Island. If a game like Plague Tale had ZERO gameplay, i would still buy it cause it's like a medieval fantasy dream generator straight from the future. That's level of detail for ya. On the other hand, all those titles where you can "interactively" flush the toilet, pull a hundred light switches and open a megazillion of crates - i gladly will skip all of them, if that's all they got to show for. Creating lush, highly detailed game environments (and i do not mean some office buildings) - requires talent, creativity and a whole lot of diligent, persistent hard work. That is not common nowadays. Not common at all. Pac-Man-like corridors and aquariums, on the other hand (even with multiple floors), can be designed by a chimpanzee with a few lessons from Chat GPT. And of this stuff we have abundance galore, unfortunately...
@@McGeezle The problem with the remasters is that people who make them are generally very lazy and they don't spend time to understand which problems needed addressing in the original, and which did not. They also confuse resolution with level of detail. Rendering the same empty square room in 4K - is not going to make it any prettier, if anything - the result will be the opposite: the 4K res will only emphasize the blandness. On the other hand, if that empty square room suddenly would stop being empty and stop being square, then we'd be getting somewhere, one step at least. Ahhh, but that's work...that requires imagination...and...and effort!!....Having to work🙄it's almost slavery🤣 I don't trust any remaster, ever. Mods are the way to go. Honestly for me, the biggest plus is the price. 10-25 euros per game is something I can personally afford, 60-70 is a bit too much. Other than that they are fun, which is the most important thing for me.
The newest COD game literally has a gauntlet weapon that costs $80. More than the freaking game itself! For about a quarter of that you can get Quake 1 and 2 with all of their expansions. Yeah, you definitely get way more for your money with boomshoots.
where I see benefit (and this is not exclusive to boomer shooters only but applies to many old and indie games) is a straight to action gameplay. You launch the game and you can immediately play and do the main content. No 1 hour long tutorials, no 2 hours of cutscenes and no excessive waiting for NPCs to finish talking so you can start moving.
