I haven’t bought new magic in probably 2 years. This got me to buy again so that’s a good thing. I don’t know why but I really like that swords to plowshares.
I bought one for me and my friends to draft. The first Mystery booster was a great draft experience and we had a lot of fun with it. I’m hoping for the same with this one ☺️
I bought it because it came with 3 collector booster packs, a Rainbow Secret Lair with Omnath that I want to build and the other promo pack with Swords to Plowshares and Ponder. I will also be making it into a cube with some minor tweeks depending on what I open in the box.
I wounder if this is a market test if they sell then maybe they will send them to stores if it dosent wotc might just keep it a convention exclusive. I know mb1 had store releases but the product has sold favorable enough to give wotc confidence to sent it to the stores. How the pendulum swing for mb2 is subject to the kinetic energy we put behind it
Arguement really isn't strong sine it is foundational on accessability to play but $250 really isn't much more than the normal products and all the cards are either reprints or not legal in any format but specifically drafting these cards. Also they are likely going to release a store version of it the did it before with the last mystery booster they are just farming FOMO for this specific version of the box since they won't technically be scamming poeple by saying this SL ersion is exclusive and the other box has worse cards just like last time.
Mystery boosters are just a masters chaos draft look at the packs look at the pulls they are identified in specs packs per box and pull rates. Also game Grove made to many people take a bath on metazoo so they are not in my good books atm same with kryptik and any other fomo tcg.
I’m being a bit off cuff - it’s not what it was at the start but there’s still a pocketed community I’m sure and if you join their discord you can be up to date about anything going on!

I honestly think this is way over blown by people who like to complain on the internet and constantly harp on wizards bad, as the product is currently sitting. do some people want to walk in an lgs and draft it for fun, sure but i also dont think that person would also pay a mark up from the lgs to draft this set constantly maybe a one off but i see more as a novelty experience than a repeatable experience people just want the new shiny thing and cry about a product they were never going to buy in the first place.
Mystery booster was originally supposed to be a convention only draft experience. It was never meant to be purchasable or collectible. Then Covid happened and they had to figure something out. I’m perfectly fine with it being a convention only experience and nothing more.
I'm curious why people are loving this product. With such a huge card pool. I can't imagine people come close to getting their money back in the value of the cards.
This one is about the play IMO. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about how much fun it is to sit around a table crack packs and build decks from the stuff in these boxes
It's a fun set and the foils are actully rare it feels like the sets of old so it will have a rose glasses effect. I got it because I needed some cards from it and the pool of cards is good. The only thing I don't like is no mana crypt and no mana vault.
The non collectibility sentiment is what never computes to me. I love the idea of this being available only at conventions or as a festival in a box. Limited accessibility to mechanically unique cards im absolutely against but im begining to realize its the internet Thered be a massive outcry over what i had for breakfast this morning. There are no mechanically unique cards in this set. Or maybe those unplayable arena ones but theyll get a reprint and i dont think the outcry is over that. I personallly like the idea of exclusive products. I recently graduated from uni, i bought a few reserved list cards in the late 2010s with my highschool job. But i havent had real money until now. Why do people want to scare wizards off from releasing exclusive non mechanically unique product? I love magic, and i like having the opportunity to get exclusive product. I want them to keep doing this. And do more in the future. If you miss one then wait a bit and therell be another chance for something else. Fomo is a thing ya but like, ive missed a ton of opportunities in my life. My solution to that isnt remove all opportunities. And i should say ya this is all bs none of this stuff will be like the og reserved list. But maybe a box like thisll be worth 2x its value in a couple years if you hold onto it. Or maybe its just a unique experience you got to have. Or a mantle piece item. Point being, wizards should do stuff like this from time to time

I want 5% price increases yearly topped off with hot wheels plain walkers...oh wait nobody wants that
I'd like to see more LGS exclusives. Secret lairs and mystery boosters should be LGS only products. Throw them a bone or two.
I mean they don't really have to lgs sell other card games and a plethora of other stuff so divided interst to maximize success but minimal loyalty.

I've never tried the mystery booster myself. But I've done a chaos draft and I didn't really like it.
