Your showing something very serious ........leave out the comical keep in mind what it's showing "the tention of war and the relaxation of Peace" Love the Idea ....
Hi Ron, sorry perhaps ‘comical’ was the wrong word... obviously I didn’t mean it like that, hopefully you’ll see with the arrangement of figures what I meant... You’re right in what you said about the respect, appreciate the comment 👍
Germans left great, concrete deal of legacy there - today,s source where to pick up crazy ideas from.Very cool project, looking forward to see second part.
I did something simular 35-40 years ago and the set was called " Looky what I found " . One was a M - 1 Abrams crew finding a half buried M - 3 Lee tank from WW - 2 in a sand dune The second one was an M - 48 Patton tank crew finding a overgrown and rusted IJA Chi Ha tank in the jungles of Vietnam . I never got a chance to finish the third one . It was supposed to be an USMC amphibious tank crew and platoon of Marines finding a half buried M- 4 Sherman tank in the Shore Line of an Island . Your work looks great keep up the work that you're doing . 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍 .
Thanks John, appreciate that....wow 35-40 years ago 😦, did you share it online at the time...??? 😆😆👍 Seriously though, they sound like a great concept, would be an idea to replicate that again....👏👏🔝
Barbarossa 641 On line didn't exist at that time . So using my descriptions above . If you like . Could do the same thing . Mine was all 1/35'th scale . I really like your work . Some of my work wound up in some military museums when I was in my early twenties .
😆😆 I know John about uploading your pics, I was joking...😆 Thanks again, and to have your models on display, especially in a museum must've been pretty cool....😊👍
Ambitious project of which i am looking forward to the finished article, good luck. Fascinating place the Channel Islands with a lot of structures still in place, I stayed in a gite which had one of the large cannon emplacements and barracks on its land, this made the trip for me!
Thanks for that, I was weary of building it all from scratch, without the safety of just buying something purpose made. You're right in there is a lot still to see on the island, good for tourism....😀👍
We had a family holiday on Jersey I think about 4 years ago and it was wonderful. Although all the WW2 was wonderful to visit, the highlight was standing in the room where the Jersey Hoard was being conserved! I was talking to a chap about the Celts and Julius Caesar, as I had a passion back then for ancient history. I didn't realise that he was in charge of conserving the hoard and he invited me and my family to step inside the room where the conservation was taking place! A lovely part of the world and this dio is going to be something special I feel.
Thanks Al, pleased you enjoyed your trip..🇯🇪 Loads of interest over here with locals & tourists alike with the past, not just museums - but bunkers & fortifications to freely wander in & around. That hoard discovery was something special you're right..... made a lot of headlines!! Thanks for commenting, cheers bud 😀👍

Hi Steve, hope you're good 😀👍 Happy to 'enhance' your weekend mate😆😆 As in some of these things what we envisage isn't necessarily how things might turn out , but pleased with how it's looking so far. As things develop in Part 2 it should start to come together, just pleased people are making sense of it - bit worried there initially 😕 All the best bud, take care 👍
You really don't need to be worried as your work is so good and your such a talented modeller that your projects tell such a fantastically interesting story. I quite like these miniart bits that they are producing. I always get a little sceptical when doing their figure sets as I've built three or four now and they are very much Dragon esq with their instructions and you have to do a lot of surgery to get them to fit. I am watching with much interest what you think of Miniarts accessories set ! I'm glad you are all ok over there. Id love to come over and see everything that you have shown on here. Perhaps I will in time. Anyway look after yourselves and I'm waiting very patiently for Update 2 !!! Lol p.s I hate you , just on the basis of where you live !!!! Ha ha ha mind you I live in a very beautiful place called Cheadle ! It's not the Stockport Cheadle , we are in the Staffordshire moorlands. We live quite literally 3 mike's away from Alton Towers and we are lucky as 5 minutes in any direction we have beautiful countryside and lovely towns such as Buxton , where the famous spring water comes from !! Right I've bored you enough now ! Stay safe my dear friend
As a member of a Jersey family, I love that you’re doing this dio... I’ve just come back from the island, and I’ll be following along with this build! I have a load of photos from the trip if you need any of the photos of the gun emplacements around Noirmont, please feel free to PM on here. Cheers, Jonny
Hi Jonathan, thank you! Noirmont actually was the first place I went to get some ideas & references from. Batterie Lothringen up there is what I’ve taken the shape & plan from, just moved it down to Bel Royal....😬 Planning in part 2 to go upto Les Landes to see if I can add anything else to it....or even just to add to the video! Being a fellow model builder myself this is a fantastic idea!! Definitely something I’ve never seen done before. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I’m from Jersey also .... well New Jersey that is in the US. You have a new subscriber here. Definitely looking forward to see how this turns out.
Hi Brian, thanks for the feedback! Have only ever seen a handful of ‘black & white’ models myself, less so with a mix of time periods. Thanks for subscribing, hello back from Jersey too (the smaller one☺️).
Oh great...now I’ve something else to think about....😳🙄 Seriously though, if I’d have seen that first I might have gone for that, it looks great! Good idea. Only since I’ve made up those 7 grey shades, & I’m happy with how they look, I’ll probably stick with them. It was what I’d originally visualised. Here’s a link to that product for anyone else interested though - ua-cam.com/video/cfTgO_3dhj0/v-deo.html Thanks for the idea, appreciated 🙂👍
Freaking brilliant idea!!!! I've often thought of doing something similar, but I've only managed half way there. hahaha. Best of luck with it, looking forward to seeing more of the progress.
Thanks Mike, happy you liked it......Have to admit the more I thought about it developing, the better it sounded, & how 'confusing & weird' it would look to someone at first - until you looked a bit more..... Thanks for the feedback bud 😃👍
Thanks Paul....👍 Simply I drill a small hole (cheap mini drill from Amazon) up through the figures foot & a hole in the wooden dowel/cork. Then using wire of the same thickness as the drill bit, one end in the cork, the other in the figure, using a touch of glue if necessary to secure. Makes painting the figures so much easier & simple to detach later.....cheers!
Great idea! Really intresting with the greyshading. Did you see this diorama with two scenes before and during the war in Stalingrad? I'm waiting excited for your next parts!
Hi, I’ve been thinking of doing something like this for quite a while, just hadn’t had the confidence to build everything from scratch... Had afew practise runs with the foam on previous models, but this was the big one...😕 I think I have seen the diorama you mentioned, had loadsa photos of peoples work saved for ideas & reference & came across it there I think? The advancing Germans in that one are just airbrushed along with everything else around them in one shade of grey, next to the one retreating guy with the snow & abadoned tank in regular colours... Looks great if that’s the same one, might include the pic in my next video for people to see & compare? Thanks for the feedback, cheers 🙂👍
@@Barbarossamodels oh sorr, I forgot to put the link into my answer... Oo ua-cam.com/video/dnOYF4cMKF8/v-deo.html I think there is nothing to compare. I'ts a completely different approach. Don't feel under pressure, but hurry up pleeeeaseee ;-) the start is promising. whatever, you have a new follower :) greets from germany
Love the idea... we come to jersey every year and walk the 'wall' and see the airshow... looking forward to seeing next part... will it be on public display for the anniversary? Love to see it Carl
Cheers Carl. Thinking of entering into the local Eisteddfod maybe next year, depends how happy I am with it....☺️ Maybe with the potential celebrations in 2020 I might get to display it somewhere, unfortunately modelling shows is something we lack over here🙁 Pleased you enjoy the island, thanks for commenting 🇯🇪👍
Love your videos man, but can you please turn down the music to the same level as your voice. I get deafened when you switch to pictures, its a small thing, but it really detracts from the quality of your videos. Keep on feeding us these fantastic vids man!
Hi, since making this video I’ve had a few comments about similar problems, so made more of an effort to correct the audio on recent uploads! Everything is recorded & edited just on an iPad, but I think the audio on videos now is much better balanced😕🤞 Appreciate the feedback though, always good to try & better things👍
There is a number of different defensive positions along the coast, this is just a combination of a few designs. Some had a gun on top, some had them in the interior. A few bunkers along the seawall have 2 smaller guns inside, flanking the beaches, plus other equipment, hence the size. It’s just my interpretation.....👍
I'm sorry but I believe it was a terrible mistake to limit the size by available shelf space. The idea is brilliant, your execution so far is great except you have forced it into a small package.
Good things come in small packages my friend...😆😆 I appreciate what you're saying, I would've liked a few inches extra around the sides, but short of building this in a purpose made display case, or retiring 'another' older dio up to the attic, then I'm stuck..... The challenge for me was to build the bunker itself with foam for the first time, a bit more beach, seashore & footpath would've been perfect, maybe a thought for the future for an 'add on'!!?? Thanks for commenting 👍
Don't you watch your videos after making one? I turn up the volume to be able to hear you then I have to turn it down when you blast the music, thumbs down..........
