    Hi,
Well, we all know that an external sound card should be cleaner. I have a neat little plug like yours. Here it is: www.rode.com/accessories/vxlrplus

Yeah, impressive how well they handle the translation of inputs…

      Hey Rob,
So, I have opened the laptop and replaced the original ram with the ballistix and it acts the same in fact a little faster with the crucial due to better cas speeds. And both og ram and crucial are 1Rx8 density. So, there is no lost in performance. I which I had 1rx16 ram to compare… but other than that, Crucial still running at 2660 compared to 2933 as OG.
That speed difference is also due to the motherboard running ram at 1.2v natively. Crucial is supposed to run at 1.35v for 3200. Thus, it clocks the speed down to base of 2660 with faster CAS SPEEDS Than stock. 19 compared to 21.

      Hi Ed,
When I looked into the matter way back when, it looked like if a person was careful and really interested in the topic of timings, that they would calculate the nanosecond (or mili?) differences between the different timing/strobing combinations at overall clock rates. Anyway if you are sure that the density of the ram is lower, that's good news. Mmm.. 2660 vs. 2933 interesting. Yes, I know the difference in voltage as stated. Can you run a benchmark that I could also run as well, and we could compare notes? Incidentally, in a fit of frustration, way back when, I went to the Crucial site and ordered some ram with less aggressive timings, and lower voltage ratings, just to see how it would fare. More like regular laptop memory. Now, they have not delivered it yet, but it may arrive any day. I was talking with a good fellow at the local computer store about all this and he thought it was a fool's errand, but he didn't say it that way. Benchmarking would be good though. I bet the Crucial I ordered runs at 2933 albeit with slower timings. Will let you know about the results. Pick a benchmark that we can download and run. Hopefully I can send the new new ram back. Thanks, -Rob

These are my results running geekbench 5 for windows.. its a tryout version.
      32GB Ballistix
      CPU BenchMark

I think the scores are very decent... If you would like me to run a test with stock Ram, I would have to do it in the AM..
What do you think thus far?.

Good Morning. I will run the GeekBench test when the Crucial ram comes in; which should be soon. I will run the CineBench R20 also. Have never done tests like this before, but will get back with you. Thanks.
