1 contingent part is enough to make the whole contingent, if my hand is contingent, for example waving, then my body as a whole is contingent, only one contingent part is needed to go up the causal chain until reaching the ultimate independant cause.

no. of course not. A can be contingent on B which is not contingent. then A+B is not contingent on anything else.

@@matswessling6600 I said "part", if A is a part of B and A is contingent, then B is necessarily contingent, since one of its constituents is.

@@IslamicAwareness27 you misunderstand. Assume you have C that consists of two parts A and B. C = A+B, now if A is contingent on B but not on anything else and B is not contingent on anything them C is not contingent.

I am a schizophrenic. I sometimes have a problem thinking that my brain is outside my brain; that is, that my neural activity is playing out causally, That my thoughts are causing phenomena to occur. One time I was in a hotel room thinking about Charles Dickens and poverty throughout history; and suddenly there was screaming in the room next-door to mine in the hotel; and I thought to myself if it could be a violent situation between two desperate people over some money on the bed. But I was already thinking about money! And I stuck my head out the door and the manager happened to be there; and he told me that it was only two young boys playing; and I was relieved but not surprised; but I had to remind myself that my brain was not outside my brain causing the screaming. Or rather did the two desperados with money on the bed arguing about money cause-Neuro kinetically through the wall -me to think about Charles Dickens? But wait there never were two desperados arguing about money on the bed; but wait, what if last week or a month prior to this present moment there had been two desperados arguing about money on the bed and their spirits are still there? See these are the problems I have as a schizophrenic, and I have a grandiose and paranoid ego to go with it.

Daily Reminder: Try to supplicate these duas every single day habitually
    1. Dua That Guarantees You Forgiveness (Sahih Al-Bukhari) Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH) said: "Whoever gets up at night and says:
La ilaha 'illa Allaahu, wahdahu la shareeka lahul mulku, wa lahul hamdu, wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer. Subhana allaahi, wal hamdu lillaahi, wa la illaaha ila Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, waLa hawla wa la quwwata illa billaah.
There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allah Alone, He has no partners, He has the Dominion and for Him is all praise, and He is capable of all things, praise is for Him, and Far is Allah from imperfection, and There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, there is no capability nor is there any power except with Allah. "Then he says:
Allaahumma aghfirlee. O Allah forgive me! Or he supplicates and his supplication is answered, and if he makes Wudhu and prays, then his prayer is accepted.
    2. Dua That Guarantees You Jannah (Sahih Al-Jami, An-Nasa'i, Ibn Hibban) Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH) said: "Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi, verse 255 from chapter number 2, Surat Al Baqarah after every obligatory prayer, then nothing is stopping him or her from entering Jannah, except one thing: Death."

    4. Phrases That Are Heavier On The Scales Than An Entire Morning Of Recitation (Sahih Muslim) Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH) said: "I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier." These are:
Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, 'adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah 'arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi.
Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise).

Mohammed hijab hates arguing via causation because he doesn't want to spend time proving why the universe is not eternal. He wants to most clear cut argument.
Also, the best way to answer this question is to say that something can't come from nothing as that is the implication of the objection.
Also, this is a metaphysical fact. No matter what thing is being caused. The universe, me, or some object.

    I didn't get it .
If we say the universe is contingent because it's made up of contingent beings .
We have to establish that the universe is made up of contingent things to start with .
The opposing arguments states that : Energy and matter only change forms . They never "disappear" . Based on the first law of thermodynamics and the law of preservation of the matter . And therefore , the universe is objectively necessary and doesn't require any explanation outside of itself .

Yes, what you have stated is one of the biggest criticisms of big bang theory. But then again the first law of thermodynamics is bound by time and space, which means the constant energy has to be bound by created time and space. It cannot drop from nothingness. And if you say that the energy was always there then it is an infinite regress, which does not exist scientifically. Infinite regress is just a concept. The fact that the universe is expanding is a proof to the fact that there was a point of beginning. It is not constant.

Energy by definition is contingent since it DEPENDS on certain circumstances to change form or vary in its form and characteristics ontologically. Energy by definition is contingent, the eternality of something DOES NOT at all undermine its DEPENDANCY or contingency. I can continue to provide more analogies if ud like.

@@ayeshayasir8665well it's not related to this video but a video that was recommended here of hamza Tzortis explaining the concept of multiple gods and addressing a hindu interlocutor as a "class a idiot" I'm not sure if you came accross the video but the question was that it's illogical for God to create something out of nothing so He created the universe using his own essence and thus the universe is also God. My question is, we follow the laws of non contradiction when it comes to questions like "why can't god take himself out of existence" or "why can't god create himself" but not when it comes to "how can god create something out of nothing." Is this a fair characterisation or am I conflating some aspects of contingent and necessity? Jazakallah khair
