Two interesting musical points here. Musical Point No. 1. The first time through the trio (and also underlying the piccolo solo) it sounds to me like there are non-stop arpeggios in the woodwinds - possibly adding a harp part - which are NOT in any published edition of "Stars & Stripes" that I've played, or am aware of. Of course, it's well known that the published editions of Sousa marches were very fully scored, to facilitate their performance by bands of all sizes with widely varying instrumentations. And that in his own performances, Sousa would tweak that instrumentation -e.g., having the woodwinds or brasses lay out for a particular strain. (Sousa was too good of a musician and play his own marches fortissimo straight through!) But these arpeggios sound like something entirely new. Perhaps tracking an arrangement for orchestra? Anyway, I like it - and it's very interesting to hear! Musical Point No. 2 - the use of a suspended cymbal - not crash cymbals - in the break strain (or "dogfight," in band slang) after the trio. Again, not something in the published scores (I believe).
Ah, found the version I was looking for. The Marching Band from the Postal series and obviously Mandela Catalogue are 2 top-notch moments I think of when I hear this. Postal 2 coz of the psychotic fun and madness it bring off and Mandela Catalogue speaks for itself, but the distorted part where Gabriel appears during the T.H.I.N.K Principle part is a highlight of the entire series.

See, this is the reason for these recordings. We find out how the composer intended the piece to be played. The dynamics and different "voices" in many places here are distinctly different from other versions we're used to hearing. It's wonderful. You can similarly catch recordings of Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, Rachmaninoff...lots!
This particular recording, yes. This was a live broadcast with Sousa conducting. Sousa hated recordings, and most recordings his band made, were not conducted by him. Also, the older recordings had to fit on a 2.5min wax cylinder, so tempos and repeats may not be authentic.
This was not a live broadcast. It was recorded by Brunswick for the National Radio Advertising Company’s special Bond Bread Radio World Tour, syndicated for broadcast on Thanksgiving Day 1929. Notice how the word “transcribe” was worked into the script. That was the required notice that it was a recording.
Good gracious, what a treat!!! This recording is 95 years old. It should be celebrated at 100. I am so glad for the Internet when I can find treasures like this online with a few taps of my fingers on the keyboard. Sousa's voice and the music are crystal clear. Gracious, what a delight it must have been to be in this man's and his orchestra's presence when he played. My Mom loved Sousa's music and would tap her toes, clap her hands, and sing right along with his recordings and/or a military band playing these tunes with tears of joy welling up in her eyes. We are fortunate to have had the film "Stars And Stripes Forever" (ua-cam.com/video/AHRgyttNXM8/v-deo.html) with Clifton Webb as Sousa.
It is an honour to hear him speak.

Ohohohohohohohohoho, my friend, looks like you fell asleep with your head on the keyboard again!
Before 2021:
great American old quality music 👌
After 2021:
“We are currently receiving countless reports of an unidentified hostile organism that will refer to as Alternates,
Until we have an compelete understanding of what the threat, It’s important to stay home, Lock all doors and windows, and have access to a loaded firearm or any ranged weapon at all times.
You will know when an alternate exist solely based on their physical characteristics,
If you see another person that looks identical to you, run away and hide,
If you see a person that has biologically impossible characteristics run away and hide, if one manages to break in your home; refrain from any kind of communication or contact with the threat,
These intelligent life forms utilize elements of physiological warfare to take advantage of there victims,
While we heavily discourage any form of contact or communication with an alternate we make exceptions for attempts at executing them yourself,
one best man who love usa show it with musticlive for ever inyour heart hear this is usa best county whole world
Two interesting musical points here.
(Sousa was too good of a musician and play his own marches fortissimo straight through!)
But these arpeggios sound like something entirely new.
That’s some piece of music but why is there a realistic angel with a whispering voice in my room? Does he know what I love or dread?
He Is Your True Savior
Ah, found the version I was looking for.
The Marching Band from the Postal series and obviously Mandela Catalogue are 2 top-notch moments I think of when I hear this.
Postal 2 coz of the psychotic fun and madness it bring off and Mandela Catalogue speaks for itself, but the distorted part where Gabriel appears during the T.H.I.N.K Principle part is a highlight of the entire series.
The quote at the end...so true and a priceless comment by a master of his time.
this song is definitely worth the risk
🔥🔥
AN UNFORESEEN THREAT
THAT WILL BE REFERRED TO AS “ALTERNATES”

What if everyone in the band were all alternates?
lol
What if Sousa himself was replaced with an Alternate?
@@IntrepidIanRinon hmmm
@BadhuManYT which volume 1 or 2
Then: happy patriotic march
Now: *haha mandela haha funni alternate impostor*
"We are currently recieving countless reports of an unidentified hostile organism, that we will refer to as Alternates."
Sorry, i had to do it
As a 78rpm collector and a collector of all recorded media types I can aquire I approve of this.
People who don't know: 😀 People who know: 😦

GUYS I THINK THIS MAY BE WORTH THE RISK 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You’re not funny.

Magnificent March King!
We are fortunate to have had the film "Stars And Stripes Forever" (ua-cam.com/video/AHRgyttNXM8/v-deo.html) with Clifton Webb as Sousa.
here in argentina this sousa march is used on a television channel to announce breaking news exactly to the minute 2:13
