Anna our newest rescued Belgian Draft Horse will have been on the farm for 6 weeks on October 1st. She was neglected, starved and dumped at a kill pen after working hard her whole life. We rescued her days before she was almost sent to slaughter. This is an update and progress on how Anna is doing now after receiving the medical care she needed and the proper nutrition.
And also...an update on other exciting things happening around the farm. You never know what we will be up to next!
Make sure you like and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening around the farm!
We have had questions asking if we have an Amazon wish list to help with supplies for the horses. Unfortunately, we do not have a wish list because we purchase all our horse supplies from HF&C Supply Amarillo.
HF&C has offered to help us with anyone wanting to send a gift of Alfa-Pro to the horses. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo and they will add those bags to our account. Alfa Pro is $15.75 per 50lb. bag plus tax. WE go through about 2 bags per day to feed all the 7 horses.
Thank you to all of our subscribers for your support, kindness and generosity! We are grateful for everything and don't know what we would do without your support!

Thank you for such love and commitment.
We live in a very cruel and abusive world. Thank God for people who love animals and do rescue. God bless you all!
Thank you! And thank you for watching, we truly appreciate your support
Yes Amen, God Bless you both for all you do.
When it's time for these precious babies to leave this world do you have a place for them to be buried on your farm? They are big furr babies and I always wonder about that. 💕🌷💕
I agree!!
I really enjoy watching the videos and the beautiful majestic horses as they walk in the pastures. I know it will be a long time before you will have everything together for the veterans program, BUT I am really looking forward to seeing the it in action!!
Her coat looks better for sure
She's such a beautiful horse don't understand how people can abuse animals thank you so much for what you do do you ever ride any of your horses
All the horses we have were very under weight and are finally getting back to a healthy weight. Freya is broke to ride and now that she isn't starved anymore we are going to work with her to see how she does with a rider.
So happy to see Anna improve thanks to Fletcher Farms Amarillo!
Every Work-Horse deserves to retire with you!
She looks relieved and much happier. Having seen a number of working horse rescues that originated from Amish farmers and who were basically being worked to death, I can't say I think a whole lot about the quality of their Christianity.
That’s not even taking into account their involvement in puppy mills
Thank you for loving and caring for these sweet forgotten horses. You have my full respect and appreciation ❤
Thank you so much!
Great job with Anna! Love to hear your Veterinarian and you discuss possible issues but hard to hear over the barn fan. I learn so much from both of you, and Anna educates us with her ear positions. Thanks!
I really need to give her a microphone but she’s so busy I don’t want to waste her time. I tried to enhance the audio too.
For someone who didn't know anything about horses you sure are doing a remarkable job of careing for and telling their individual stories. Good job
Such a gentle giant
You are so kind to Anna and the other horses, I love your videos, it’s so uplifting to watch the progress they are making. Anna is looking really good, it’s always shocks me to see how thin she is with the view from the top xxx
I know! It’s so sad but much better then when she originally got here.
Fantastic to see the progress the horses are making, love watching you. Best wishes from the North Norfolk coast England UK 🇬🇧
Thank you! We truly appreciate your support!
What a great transformation💖Anna💖 We love you so much 💋! Thank you all so much for the GREAT JOB you are doing every day for this poor angels !!! God bless you all ! 💖💋💝
Thank you!
You two are doing a FABULOUS job with these Horses. I'm so impressed. I'm very impressed that you don't let all the unsolicited advice and criticism get you down. I'm sure folks mean well. I just know you're doing right by these Horses and they know it too. Just look at them and it shows how WONDERFUL you are!!! Blessed Be
A Colorado Mountain Grandma USA 💜✌️💕🐴🌞
Thank you so much for the kind words! We appreciate your support.
Anna looks beautiful when she was in barn with vet. Outside it was hard to see how large she is with open scenery. I noticed her right hind leg being favored while she was standing so sweet while vet checking her. I think Anna definately came a long way in 6 weeks. Good job❤
Give her some hugs and kisses for me please❤❤❤
Anna has a beautiful face and she seems so sweet, you and Corey are angels for all you do with these poor neglected horses, God Bless.🙏🏻
Thank you!
She landed on her feet with you, so polish up your wings ☺.
From England.
Anna is a beautiful horse. Blessings to you for taking care of her and giving her a new life.
Thank you for watching. We appreciate your support.
Recovery from this type of condition takes time and hard work, but it is always worth it! I have a Belgian that was 400lbs underweight when I got him and also struggled with edema. Turns out he was extremely overloaded with parasites, and did not feel like moving around much. Once he was treated and got his condition back all those problems resolved. Keep up the good work!
Oh wow…we did treat her for parasites when she first got here. Our vet said that could have been contributing to her weight loss. I had no idea parasites could have that effect on a horse.
You’re doing a GREAT job with her!
You do amazing work with the horse 🐎 God bless you all
Thank you!
Sounds like you have a good vet. There was a reason why the original owner put her into the slaughter pipeline. That doesn't make it right, it's cruel. She is obviously happy, so God bless you!
She's gonna be so beautiful when she gets up to date!
weight not date!
Hemp for horses is amazing stuff! I've had my horse on this for a month now & no more lameness, her feet are fantastic & it is very calming for her.....so happy with this product 🤗
Really! Do you have a link or what the name of the product you are using? I would really like to look into that!
Omgoodness, she's looking amazing. Keeping prayers going. 🙏♥️
Thank you!
I love these updates! Thank you for all you do! 💞🐎✌️🌻🙏
Thank you for watching! We truly appreciate your support!
Looking good there young lady
So happy to seeing her thriving!! Precious girl 💋💋💋❣❣❣❣
Julie, you look much better than in your last video, hope that means you are feeling better.
Anna's new halter looks so pretty on her. What a lovely kind donation.
Thank you! Yes I am feeling much better! A few days of Claritin D and it took care of my cold/allergies or whatever I had going on LOL I love Anna's halter and yes it was the perfect gift! she needed a new halter for sure. All the horses are different sizes so we didn't get her one because we didn't know what would fit her. But this one is perfect and fits great.
Anna looks so much better after only six weeks. Glad you are making improvements to make daily chores easier, especially all those batches of Alfa-Pro.
Sending good vibes to Anna and You! Blessings to all on your farm! ✨❤🐴
So happy for her progress! Bless you and your family! ❤
Anna is looking so good, she looks happy!
What a lovely horsey! So beautiful. I love the way you loose tie up and do not drag the horses around by their heads. A wonderful farm and set up. I look forward to all your new vids. Thank you and regards, Dave 🇬🇧👋
Thank you so much! We appreciate your support
So glad y,all rescued her
I'm glad Anna is gaining weight and strength, Julie. I hope her lab results come back with little to no real problems revealed! Freya is funny with Anna -- she definitely is asserting herself . . . and probably for good reason. I suspect that Anna is quite dominant. She even is with you; as the "need" arises. A natural leader for sure! Wahoo, Julie! 🤠🐎💓
Thank you! I'm uploading a video now for an update on Anna's bloodwork. Should be uploaded by tomorrow if my internet cooperates.
Good vibes for Anna and I'm sure all your TLC will definitely have her bloom. Goat milk bars look good.
Anna continues to improve , it isnt just the weight gains its the brighter eyes , she appears a happier horse all round , your correct if you feed her to much it can do her more harm than good , slowly but surely , l think in about 6/ 12 months she will be unreconisable, her skin is also looking better , l only hope she didnt damage her hip when she last foaled , you never know perhaps she substained a injury when travelling , hopefully self exercise will improve , happy you are giving a elderly retired work horse a reason for living and can hopefully enjoy her last few years !
The vet doesn’t think it’s her hip. She’s weak in that back hip because she didn’t have an muscle. She thinks it’s lower down in her limb. We are hoping that the meds we started her on will help all of the issues she has going on.
Thank you for saving these precious angels!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ may God bless you all 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 these beautiful angels deserve all the love, kindness, care, and happiness!!!!!!
Thank you!
I am new to your channel, so I am having to catch up watching videos. I am glad Anna is doing better. Anna's new halter is so pretty on her. Thank ya'll for all the love and care you give your animals. They know that they are safe and loved. God bless 🙏💖. ❤️👩🐕🐾
Very happy to see a video from you! And so glad Anna is doing good 🙏She looks so different than when she came, especially her demeanor. And yet you can see there is quite a way to go. Keeping my thumbs crossed that her health issues resolve soon! I have a question (I am living in Germany): I have seen in videos lots of Amish horses dumped at the auction and in really bad conditions. Why don’t they humanly euthanize? Why do they let the horses get into those conditions? I am trying to understand. Back to Anna: those interactions were interesting - Anna doesn’t take anything from the other horses. Could be interesting! 😅 Very glad Cami is doing good now! And I am really excited about the soap - I love handmade soap! It’s a great gift, too. Maybe you could add a card with information about what you do? I am also excited to see the website! A lot going on for sure 😀 Wishing you, your husband and all the families all the best!
Unwanted horses can still be sold for slaughter for dog food..I'm not sure why the local humane society doesn't get involved & confiscate the abused animals, Amish or no. Abuse is abuse & shouldn't be tolerated. I've seen World Horse Welfare videos from the UK where people have been imprisoned for horse abuse. Starving animals is abuse.
@@cathyd3012 Here in Germany it must be much the same as in the UK. That´s why I have been really struggling to understand. Unfortunately here in Germany there stilll is animal abuse. But in plain sight? That´s not so often. It´s more that so called animal friends call animal services when they see a horse standing outside in the rain...
There is so much in the animal world that I don't understand. What happened to Anna is definitely abuse but no one reports it and when it is reported there are no consequences. There are laws in place for animal abuse but the actions are never followed through. The horses are sold to slaughterhouses in Mexico and horse meat is shipped all over the world. It makes me sick and one day I hope to help change this sad situation! Hope that helps a bit?
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Thank you for sharing your point of view! I am glad there are laws in place, too. So the prosecution is the problem. I so hope and wish things for animals all around the world change! In Germany unfortunately we still have horse abuse, too. And more and more at the high level competitions.
ANNA IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GORGEOUS!
Thank you! She is making huge strides and getting stronger everyday.
Looking great
Good nothing's reflected in liver or kidneys tied to that leg.
Wondering if higher heart rate causing.
Wishing you the best on this journey. She is looking better and settling in nicely.
my left ear really enjoyed this but great video on showing the the whole progress
🤦♀️ I know…photography is what I’m good at…video is a new ball game for me.
Thank you for your care of these most precious and absolutely beautiful horses. I tip my hat to you and your husband for putting your money and hard work to give these horses a great life after their service to man wishes. God bless your family.
Beautiful as always!
The girl is looking good.
Poor horse.Thank God you are on his path.
Anna is looking so much better. You are doing an amazing job with these lovely horses. I love the updates. Thank you.
Awe she's such a Beauty. I Pray all test come back ok. She's Definitely my Favorite! 🥰
God Bless
Anna is such a sweet horse. So glad you have a female vet. Cool. I still can't believe how cruel she was treated before you got her. Sleepy girl. Good for you with solar. Good idea. Goat milk soap also a great idea. Good for you. God Bless.
Wow! Goat's milk soap! Good job!
Bless you guys
Hi Julie & Cory , I am very happy to see Beautiful Anna, I will feel better when her back fills out 💪💪🙏
And I will Always be chipping in for the alpha pro , I hope everyone else does too 🙏🙏, I would Love to buy your homemade soap please include shipping price in sale $ because I am in Ohio , I am very happy your going be able to have a hot water sink in the barn that will a 💯 % help for you 👍you have been busier then a Bumble bee you sound like you have 10 projects going at once , Thank You for Video I am Always happy to know you are Always improving 🥰🙏👍♥️💯
Hello! Things have been so crazy but I will let everyone know when I get the soap up on the website. I had no idea setting up a website was so much work! Thank you for all your support, we truly appreciate it! 🥰
Blessings ❤🙏
I admire your rescue. Love how horses no matter their condition stand up for themselves. Great thanks to people like you. She looks much better.
Thank you so much! We actually aren't a "rescue", this is just our journey of starting a new farm. I always wanted horses and after we purchased this farm I convinced my husband into rescuing these draft horses. Some day though I plan to start a rescue to rehab and rehome these beautiful animals. Thank you for following along, we truly appreciate your support.
Thank you ❤️
Thank you for this awesome video. You have made wonderful progress with Anna and the rest of them. God bless you, your husband and farm. 🚜 🐎🐴
Thank you! We appreciate your support!
Cold hose the swelling a few times a day and bute temporarily might help improve her. Did the vet recommend rubdowns and wrapping overnight to help reduce the swelling at all? I hope her heart rate came down. You are an angel to do what you do for these horses. They need advocacy and help so badly. What a great cause you are dedicating your life to. Thank you.
Yes, Anna has been here over a year. There was a video just posted with her follow up.
Glad to see you are putting in solar panels. I have used solar panels for years on one of my sheds, and after the first investment the electricity has been almost free. Up here in Wisconsin we probably don't get as much sun as you do, but we use a lot of wind power in this area and I have never heard windmills freezing up, not even in 50 below zero weather. You must have a different type of windmill?
Anna looks amazing!! Thank you for the update…I’ll keep her and everyone else in my prayers….You go Anna banana 🎉😅love you sweet girl 💕💕
Thank you! We all appreciate your prayers and support.
Wondering if the noise in the barn from the fan was making her nervous and elevating her heart rate 🤔 Thanks for the update. You are doing a awesome job 👍🤠
She was just out in the paddock and Charlie wasn’t being very nice…that could have been part of it too.
Bless you and your husband, you folks are a blessing to the horse world 🥰
I would think that as with any of your rescues, knowing what she responds to is pretty much a guess at this point. Since you will never really know everything about her situation before she came to you (and it is probably better if you don’t), you will just need to monitor her behavior carefully when any change occurs no matter how small. We all have things (sounds, smells, etc.) that trigger memories of past events in our lives, either positive or negative, and I am sure animals are the same way. Your animals are so very blessed to be part of your family.
Goat milk soap is divine! My all time fav is patchouli. I did not catch if the vet said Anna’s gums are normal color. With severe anemia, they will be pale. Are hers about the same as the other horses? I am looking forward to the farrier visit.
Oh I’ll have to make a batch of that! Her gums are normal color. I do usually check their gums every day if they will let me. 🤦♀️
Thank you
I am wondering if she has a condition or injury related to foaling...maybe pelvic?? Or another kind??? Could someone have tried to pull a stuck foal out??? Just thinking out loud....she surely is a lucky mare to have found you...❤️🐎❤️
Thank you! The vet actually thinks her issue is lower down her limb. She didn't see anything wrong with her hips. The swelling is mostly her "knee" and "ankle" so to speak. I really think its from being weak from being starved for so long.Anna seemed defeated when she arrived here but every week she seems to improve and her spirits seem lifted. I'm uploading a new video as we speak and should be up tomorrow (if my internet cooperates). Again this week she has made more progress! She's definitely a fighter!
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Anna Rules!!!!! Definitely a determined, fighting spirit ❤️
It's such a joy to see Anna's enjoying her grazing. What a sweet heart. ❤Has the vet taken x-rays to confirm arthritis? I've seen some horses get periodic joint injections for arthritis that do wonders. There are some wonderful joint supplements / anti-inflammatory supplements out there. One of my dogs is on one & it works better than the prescription anti-inflammatory. Several of it's ingredients are also in horse supplements..Best wishes for all your fur babies.
Acupuncture is great on animals, including horses for all sorts of problems including joint pain.
The vet and I discussed that as well. She’s a chiropractor too. That’s something we are thinking about doing as well.
If you are new to soap making, or just want to network with other makers, there is a wonderful UA-cam channel called Zion Creek Farm in Ohio, I think, that has a growing soap making business along with raising Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I am sure he would be a great resource, and he has such a fun channel to watch.
Perfect!~ I will chalk that out! I appreciate the info!
Do you know anything about her foal or about the birth. She might of injured her pelvis and/or her hip during the process. Especially if humans had to assist.
We don’t know and the way these animals are shipped we wouldn’t be able to find out.
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo my gut feeling is that she lost it and had intervention.
With the issue in her back legs and the way she keeps weight of her left rear so much, will she have developed problems on her right side due to the compensation. What do you think? Maybe physiotherapy or chiropractic care once the swelling is resolved?
What does it mean when horses meet face to face over a fence, then they both squeal? Is it " I don't think I like you" ?
I don't know very much about horses other than the fact that I love them and am afraid of them (close up) at the same time.
I am thinking that the reaction over the fence had something to do with herd behavior, there's always a skirmish for dominance.
It reminds me of the behavior of High School girls, lol.
🤣 pretty much sums up a mare!
They are herd animals so they need to sort out the pecking order. Introducing them through a fence like this gives them time to work out their petty issues and they can’t hurt each other this way.
Just a small hint on the edit. If there is a mono audio source you might want to duplicate it to the other channel as well. It is really uncomfortable to watch the video with that audio issue. If there are two channels and just one is raised higher you might want to mix them together. Audacity for instance should be able to help out.
Nevertheless its a honorable effort, keeping the audience updated ;)
Thanks for the info
I saw a video where a horse approaches a pony wearing a grazing muzzle-- you could see him saying "Let me help you out, bro" and he grabbed the muzzle with his teeth and ripped it off! Do you think it was a staged video or could this really happen?
Well...anything is possible I guess. I don't know how the other horses would pull it off unless it was loose on the horse wearing it? I know I tested Charlies to make sure it was tight enough not to slip off his nose.
You can also give her 3 cups of cracked corn twice per day!! How much weight are you trying to put on her??! 100 bounds??
Starved horses have decreased gut bacteria and protozoa populations that are essential to ferment forages and other feeds. The gut cells that produce digestive enzymes have decreased ability to digest and absorb feed. For these reasons, digestibility of feed is reduced. Refeeding starved horses must occur gradually to allow the gut flora to readapt to feed and recover their normal functions. Months of neglect cannot be undone in a few days or weeks. Overfeeding malnourished horses can cause much harm and potentially death. Other serious conditions can result in feeding too much too fast such as neurologic signs or death due to cardiac and pulmonary failure. Feeding large amounts of carbohydrates before the horse’s gut flora have had time to adapt can result in colic, diarrhea, and laminitis. This is all per our veterinarian. We are still working up to the amount of feed she should be fed. She still has a long road ahead of her.
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo I can say as a human that suffered from severe malnutrition, that getting the digestive systems back to a functioning level takes a very, very long time. I had a life-saving stomach/chest cavity surgery 2 years ago and I still have an extremely fragile health and digestive system. I am very limited in what I can eat and keep down. Even though many things would be "good" for me, my system cannot tolerate them. There are things I cannot miss too, i.e. vitamins, probiotics, etc. I can tell most of the time what my body needs and doesn't, so I'm sure it is much harder for a non-speaking, less knowledgeable Horse suffering starvation. I just know it's miserable, painful, scary, and SAD. Being a disposable Being is a horrible feeling. I am so GRATEFUL
to you Jen and Cory for saving these Beautiful Horses from that hellish fate.
I thank everyone who is helping to save them. I would lie down before you all in gratitude for saving them from such TORTURE. I am truly THANKFUL. Sorry, didn't mean to write a book. I just kinda know what these Horses have gone through somewhat. God Bless Ya'll.

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
How old are your babies
We aren’t really sure but they are weariness to be somewhere between 16-18 years old.
Just curious might of missed but why isn’t Anna turned out free an not on lead line???
She may be Amish horses they work a good part of life's or have foals and are stalls when working they not pets and can't judge others way live it way learn do things every one have different ways if life it great she buy keep out slaughter pipe line hopefully more save and giving last act of kindness
@18:00 I can see how Anna favors her right leg lifting her left leg off the ground.😒
Yeah...that was after trying to kick. I really think she tweaked it and aggravated it again. But this week...she back to normal...no limping?
Hope you are installing a tankless water heater.
Yes we are lol 😂
Have you seen Blue Cactus dairy goats she makes lots of soap from the goats milk
Oh…I haven’t heard of her but I’ll check her out! Thanks for the info!
Is just pitiful the shape she is in. Poor girl. I know starved animals have to have weight put on slowly. It just takes a while. I hope the legs sort out.
What is her age ?
They really aren’t sure but maybe 16-20?
What did the x-ray reveal ?? You need a second opinion!!??
I don't understand why the vet is not doing an xray of her hips and leg.
I need to bring her to the office for an X-ray. She thinks it’s arthritis at this point because she isn’t limping like was was when we first picked her up. If it doesn’t get better we will definitely bring her in for an X-ray.
Oh my solar, make sure anyone that gets on house solar. Horror story, my panels were put up 4yrs ago, they put hundreds of giant skrewed, in my roof thought everything was good ,had the Co. come out 5 or 6 things to fix leaks, ,but little did we know when it rained the rain was following the skrewed ,the wood was dry and the water followed the skrewed, and rotted my entire roof I have black mold destroyed roof, leaking house and owing 70,000 to pay $689.00 PMT plus my reg power bill, IAM skrewed, they said they will fix the front of the house but what about the back. IAm sorry I got them. I would never recommend on roof solar.
Why doesn’t the legal system take the abusers to task?
There isn’t anyone enforcing animal abuse cases.
What happened to the horse with the cancer in his eeye.
He is here on the farm and is going for surgery tomorrow to have the tumor removed. I will get an update out as soon as possible.
Was this a Amish draft horse?
Yes, she came from a farm in Ohio.
Chiropractic manipulation been thought about. White cell count???
SHE NEED MUCH MORE FOOD AND OFTEN. NOT TWICE A DAY. THIS IS A BIG HORSE. 30 KG.
You are correct but for a horse that has been starved the food needs to be added slowly or they risk colicing because it’s too much on their systems to digest and process. This is per our vet. We are working her up to where she needs to be. Getting her back to a healthy weight will be 6-8 months.
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Thats Not True Any longer. Initial days yes.
@@lauralauren6432 she’s up to eating 9.5 lbs twice per day. We increase the amount every 3 days. She has unlimited access to coastal hay as well. This is per our vet.
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Its better to give smaller doses many Times per Day. Especially a starved horse. Good luck and thanks for The response.
@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo You are doing a great job.
A Colorado Mountain Grandma USA 😘
This evil world will not stop until The Lord stops it i hope soon
What is her age?
We really don’t know. The vet guessed maybe somewhere between 16-18?
