My 2-year-old son shoved a 1991 Impel Walt Disney Collector Card into my drive. Your video was very helpful in disassembling my PS3, taking out the foreign object, then uncocking the mechanism before putting it all back together. Just wanted to thank you for this video - I replaced the laser on my ps3 but forgot to take the disc out of the drive when I disassembled it. Sure enough once I put everything back together I couldn't insert a disc! By repeating what you did I was able to reset the drive, put it back together again, and it worked great first try.
Thank you! My problem was fixed thanks to this video! The left slider was touching the gear wheel and all it took fix was to slide that 1/8th of an inch that you said.
Thanks Bob, I messed around with this PS3 for 3 hours yesterday and fixed nothing, it took me about 10 minutes after watching this to have it back in working condition.
Went in to replace the lense. When I put it back together, it wouldn't insert the disc. Took it apart a few times, same thing. If it weren't for your great, thourough instructional video, it would have cost me many more hours. Thanks. My PS3 is back up and running. Thanks again.
Yes the blue light flashes when I put the disc in but the disc just simply won't go in. The only reason I took the BD drive apart in the first place was to reset everything like you did in this video to see if it would help. When I repaired my ps3 (heat gun, thermal paste, etc.) the YOLD was gone and the PS3 accepted discs just fine and then a few days later didn't.

Very clear etc. I had a problem with what you call the "gear box cover"... whilst attempting to fit it back in it fell apart completely (the dark grey sets of gears all fell out) and I have spent almost an hour trying to put it back together just to fit it inside my PS3 again. Any suggestions or what to search for to find a tutorial on putting that part back together? Thanks a lot

My ps3 ylod'd not too long ago and I was not able to get a rare ps1 game(called einhander) that I had stuck in the ps3. The power and eject trick would not work on my ps3 fyi, so the only option was to open up the blue ray drive enclosure and manually get the disc out.
Ok it turned out that the metal peace that move the lens raisers beneath the drive was not in place, I mounted back & voila it's working & loading the disc, thanks for the help though.

I tried to remove discs manually as seen in another of your videos, only had a 000 screwdriver and nothing came out. I removed the outer cover completely but cannot work out how to open up the hard drive to look...
are those little springs necessary for the motor to push in and out the disc. when i insert a cd, it dosn't get pushed in. when i turned on the ps3 the motor would turn on.

My left slider is IN FRONT of some metal pin, that is behind it in the back and therefore I cannot move it no to touch gears. I think it should actually be ON that pin, but I can't lift it to set it there. Is there any way to put it in it's correct position?

i can not thank you enough, one major reason is because now i dont have to spend $80 on a new drive, plus now my customer is going to be happy, but it still does get jammed every now and then and doesnt want to eject. but thanks
Hi Bob, I have a 400 series Blue Ray from a CECHH01 PS3. I bought the PS3 with YLOD from a guy on Craigslist. He indicated that he had only taken apart the PS3 to get his disc out. I have been successful in fixing the YLOD issue. Everything seems to be working except the Blu Ray drive. I unjammed the drive & can nw slide a disc into the drive and the blue light will begin flasing on the front of the PS3 but the disc will not be pulled in. Any Ideas
Hi I just took apart and serviced my disc drive... for some weird reason the rollers aren't engaged when the infa-red is triggered instead the laser drive motor (that moves the laser along its track) gets engaged and the motor clicks like a machine gun because it is already all the way in. I have taken it apart several times and mechanically it seems to be perfect, would this be an electrical issue, if so which part would I replace?
Hi I recently had YOLD. I fixed it correctly and it worked perfectly fine three days ago. I was able to put in discs and play normally. Two nights ago my PS3 stopped accepting discs and I have no idea why. I watched your video and reset everything correctly and it still won't accept my discs. Do you know anything that might help? I have the oldest PS3 60 GB model the one that launched first if that helps. Thanks would really appreciate it.
hey man my motor seems to be the issue as the black things do not slide up and down because of it but when i remove it, they slide perfectly with no power..

My CECHBO1 stopped ejecting or accepting disc so I did the steps in this video. I noticed that the left slider was stuck on the gear wheel so I pushed it back and check all the other key points. After hooking it back up the PS3 took in the disc but then made a loud grinding noise as if the gears were grinding together. When trying to eject the disc you could hear the motor running and the gears grinding loud but the disc won't come. Any idea what my issue could be?

heya i think this video has almost helped me fix my drive, however when i put a disk in the drive recognizes it and starts to suck it in, however the disc never makes it all the way to the back , it falls just short and the laser cannot rise:/ have you any idea what might cause this?
Ok I followed your guide & my drive reset but now it wont load games it take the disk but nothing happens I press eject it make some noises then the disc comes out so I removed the upper drive housing & it appears that the disc won't go and sits over the motor it stops just few mm's from it
i have a ps3 that YLOD'ed three times. i just finished fixing it the third time with a heat gun and it works sweet. im considering a custom ps3 case with more fans and airflow to prevent it from YLOD again. will this help at preventing it or i will have to endure another repair because of the already messed up soldering? i have considered reballing but i would like to avoid it since its dificult and risky (even though permanent solution).

I got a problem with a drive its a 410 aca , it will not take disk i put in after resetting the disk it rasies the tray with out sucking in disk or it takes in disk and does not raise tray , any idea what im doing wrong ?? if its not touching gear wheel it takes disk in and does not raise if its touching it immideatly raises and jams disk
When I put my disc in the ps3 slim it gets stuck half way so I can still see the disk. I can still pull the disc out but it won't accept disks anymore. First it started off making minor noises then it went to grinding noises then it won't accept the disk please help me

with the spring loaded wingers, what happens if the springs are lost? do they need to be replaced or can it still work without them?

i did this and now my drive makes a lot of noise when I insert a DVD, the DVD inserts slowly with a lot of noise and I can't eject it.
