I’ve been bouncing back-and-forth in between representation videos of how these engines sounded. From Cameron‘s actual take, to someone who compared the sound to the PS Waverly. In honesty, aside from James Cameron’s masterpiece audio, this is as close to what probably a triple expansion sounded like in scale to Titanic’s. The sound of that beautiful romantic ship. I can’t imagine what it actually sounded like in real life when they were standing outside the ship. The sound of it puffing through the funnels. Not sure if it had kind of the same effect as a steam train.
Titanic's funnels didn't puff like on a steam train. The reason being, after the steam is used in the engines and the turbine, it is sent into a cold water condenser and and the steam turns back into water and it is pumped back into the boilers to be used again. The only thing that came from her stacks was smoke from the boilers. A steam train exhausts the steam out the stack, it doesn't use the water but once. Titanic was extremely advanced for her time!
I’m titanic nerd mostly I know that In the movie when they went full astern when about to hit the iceberg that guy didn’t realize he was messing with the ships water magnetic push so if he just made the ship go slow astern the ship might had made it and there were 3 steering wheels on titanic 2 at the front 1 at the stern the stern one was for decoration and the 4th funnel at the back of the ship wasn’t real because titanic only needed 3 funnels without a forth one they thought the ship looked funny

"The Heart of a Titan".
This is so satisfying!
Beautiful, innit lads?
Absolutely
Imagine building this without a calculator even. Amazing engineering.
when steam age was the real shit
If I could have been on the Titanic, I would want to work where the engines are
You were more likely to die because even when they hit the iceberg the boiler rooms were effected first
Recongamer_2010 oh right
feels like hell there
I wouldn't mind me an Olympic class ship knowumsayin
Mason Rafferty XD
You like 'em big and heavy, with a nice, round, feminine fantail?
The heart of a great ship at the bottom of the ocean. Such a tragedy.

Amber Milton same
Im all nerd
Amber Milton same bro!
Are you my soulmate?
I’m titanic nerd mostly I know that
In the movie when they went full astern when about to hit the iceberg that guy didn’t realize he was messing with the ships water magnetic push so if he just made the ship go slow astern the ship might had made it and there were 3 steering wheels on titanic 2 at the front 1 at the stern the stern one was for decoration and the 4th funnel at the back of the ship wasn’t real because titanic only needed 3 funnels without a forth one they thought the ship looked funny
