I think before you dive in and send the ecu away for a repair attempt, you should check the wiring harness for a short to ground on the 5v circuit. Especially since you had at least one related sensor issue. Connect a scope to an accessible 5v pin (map sensor say) and wiggle test the engine harness whilst looking for drop outs.
I would have thought the Chevy in the Uk would have been under vauxhall, herd in the US it’s a Chevy but it is manufactured by Daewoo. Before I moved here from Ireland you couldn’t buy a Chevy there or a Chrysler product. Sounds like a reman pcm might be your fix there.

I had a similar problem with the exact same scanner last week Sandy, Press and hold the GM on the list and delete then re install the brand.
