I had a 425 with a MCS for years. Picked up a ferris is 2100 last year super great mower but I have too many Hills. Ended up doing more trim work than I wanted to. I also have a 1026r with a 7-iron but I never liked mowing with the roll bar and tractor cab on I had too many fruit trees so I took the deck off. Got rid of the ferris and picked up an x738 with the power flow no regrets.. they are also really easy to work on. Heading on my mowing time and ride comfort but there's always a trade-off.
Love the collection system 👍 , but think a 12volt actuator hooked to the dump hood with more movement to open the hood would help and a flick of a switch be nice too.
I have the Terra King TKV-20 material collection system. Its a 20 bushel system with a 12v electric actuator dump. The system you have shown seems to work well with leaves. The TKV-20 works great with leaves and also pine needles. I believe you viewers would really like the TKV-20.

While the video is a great example of the leaf bagger, it also goes to show how well the seeding and fertilizing you did in an earlier video came out! Also, you should be wearing some hearing protection out there, a good set of bluetooth, noise-canceling headphones. (sorry, the dad in me came out there) :)
I actually go counter clockwise with my JD garden tractor and pull behind leaf vac with the thinking the leaves get cut by more blades till they hit discharge chute especially when piled up I'll only use half the deck on that left side. Not worried about the little pieces till last cleanup of fall.
Duct tape. Yep. Apply duct tape to the lower portion of your mowing deck (like a skirt) that hangs below the edge to keep those extra pesky leaves from flying out from the sides... you mentioned that around 4:50. When your done, tear it off or keep it on for later use when you suck up more leaves again.. whatever works!
Been doing this for years with a modified Peco system on my 7284 compact tractor...Whats key is to have a motor driven impeller(4 or 5 blade) to mulch and aid pulling the leaves from the mower deck discharge...
Looks like a job the kids could do while you do other important things (like holding down the couch). Seems like they could use a means of pushing the door up higher when dumping. Lots of leaves trapped in that small gap.

No, I typically reel mow after leaf clean up. However, I put the mower away for the year. Just sucking up leaves for the next month or so and then transition to winter setup :)
I chop the leaves up first before vacuuming them up as it is 1/10 of the volume. I’ve learned not to sweat getting every leaf because in the spring the oaks drop more leaves and you’re doing it all over again.
So you mow the entire yard once and then bag to avoid having to make extra dumps? I only had to dump 3 times. It would have taken me much longer to mow first and then go over again vs the time it took to empty the hopper one or two extra times. Yeah, those oak leaves drop all winter long. Drives me nuts.
@@GoodWorksTractors I have maple trees too that drop 2-3 inches of leaves. I set the mower deck high go over the leaves a couple of times to shred them, then lower the deck to normal cutting height. Yes it takes a little longer but for me it works great.
That vac system appears to work quite well. Does it have an indicator of some sort that lets you know it’s full? Did you stripe your lawn with that 1025r?

Do you have any experience with using different types of mower blades when vacuuming? I run a 1026R with a PTO Trac Vac, and am thinking that maybe mulching blades would help to cut down the volume. Have had more than normal volume of leaves this year here in Battle Creek area.
Cost aside, which do you think would be more efficient, the bagger system you’re using or a stand on or walk behind blower such as the one Gord uses on GP Outdoors from Ferris?
I've not used a walk behind blower. GP has woods all around him to blow the leaves into. I only have woods on one side of this property. My last house didn't have any woods to blow them into. So, really depends on your application. Without anywhere to blow them, you'll have to burn them where you pile them or wait until the wind is going the right direction to blow them to get them where you want to leave them. However, I've used backpack blowers many times. A good backpack blower will work well, but overall it takes longer to do and again depends on wind conditions.
Looks like a great system.. But what I could never understand is people take all this time to clean up leaves and clippings then dump them along the woods of their yard so they can blow back into the yard.. Instead of taking them back into the woods away from the yard.
They must not sell alot of these. I've called several times from here in central Michigan, never an answer,, and never even got a call returned (answering machine just picks up). This is a HUGE red flag for any future support. I love the setup, but the folks and reviews at Cyclone Rake do circles around this.
I haven't done one, but I have no intent of ever going back to mulching unless it's on an area of my lawn that I don't care as much about. Golf courses might mulch the rough, but most aren't going to mulch the fairways for example. Rough doesn't need to be as finely maintained as a fairway. However, the distinction in their manner of leaf removal depending on the desired final appearance of the turf should tell you what method is most effective for high quality turf. Mulching leaves is fine if it's sporadic or if you don't have dozens or hundreds of trees dropping leaves onto your lawn all fall. This debris isn't decomposing overnight, it takes time to do so. The same reason that a 1/2" of thatch is an optimal level. Too much and you starve the root system of oxygen, nutrients, and even the leaves of sunlight. Too little thatch dries the soil creating stress. Grass in the wild doesn't stay at 3" high all the time. So, we maintain our lawns in an unnatural way anyways by mowing them weekly during the growing season. Therefore, it should make sense that we have to treat leaf removal in the same manner that we treat fertilizing, weed killing, and other amendments for overall turf health. Having mowed lawns for the last 24 years and taking great pride in my own lawn, I can tell you that thick, inconsistent layer of thatch will cause much more harm than good to my lawn's health and overall appearance. I'd much rather trade the natural aspect of it for the control found by applying my own nutrients throughout the season. But, just because I don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't right for you.
Faster by a few minutes at most, I'm not growing a compost pile on my lawn, and it isn't better for the lawn when there's inconsistent piles of mulched leaves that are too heavy in some areas and fine in other areas.

Yeah, would be nice, but leaves are dumped within 30 seconds in this method. Really a piece of cake. Hopefully we have dessert after dinner tonight!

Sometimes I go round and round just to suck up the leaves that have fallen down while I'm sucking them up. It's normally a losing battle! 🤣
