  • Madera Unified held its annual Student Champion Hall of Fame and State of the District event at the Torres High School Theatre on October 25, 2023. The community event, MC'd by Madera Linkage Foundation President Tim Riche’, featured many retired MUSD employees with outstanding past accomplishments who have significantly contributed to the lives of students in Madera.
The Madera Linkage Foundation is a 503(c)(3) organization that accepts donations that 100% go directly back into the students and schools of Madera Unified. The Platinum Sponsors for the event were PGE and ERC, Gold Sponsors EECU and Parsec and Silver Sponsors Mid Valley Disposal.
At the event, the Linkage Foundation awarded over $10,000 worth of mini-grants to different schools in the district. The grants will be used to increase STEM and hands-on learning and help organize a competition where students will compete in public speaking.
The event also included a speech by Superintendent Todd Lile, who addressed the district and talked about Madera Unified students and the importance of having mentors who can see their potential.
“Tonight, we affirm that for every world champion, there needs to be a student champion, and we cannot have one without the other,” said Superintendent Lile.
Superintendent Lile also addressed the newly awarded Student Hall of Fame Champions, one of whom was his 3rd-grade teacher when he attended John Adam’s Elementary, Mrs. Gerry Mitchell.
