I just installed Markup R-XP and it has a “View Full Chart” toggle switch at the bottom right; zoom in to see the symbols. I use a iPad so Pattern Keeper still isn’t available for IOS. So far, I find this app very simple to use and extremely helpful for my old eyes! Thanks for the great review. New subscriber because of it!
I love that MarkUp R-XP info page and it seems to have a lot of nice features not offered by PK but the fact that MarkUp is only one page at a time is a deal breaker for me. I really like being able to zip around my whole chart to get a lay of the land so to speak, see what's coming up or nearby. I work cross country, more or less within a page, but I like the ability to drift into the pages to right or below as my thread takes me. Thanks for demo!
I rather the chart also go in as 1 big chart. I do think they are working on that. My deal breaker was the floss number with the symbol and that was added. We each need to make our own decision. Bottom line is to have fun and enjoy your stitching time. Do what makes you happy.
Thanks for reviewing this. I just got it a week ago to give it a try but haven’t gotten started yet, so your timing is perfect! So informative and I put you on hold to upload my HAEDs into it. Worked like a charm! Now to actually give it a try on a Christmas stocking for my granddaughter.
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy your journey stitching your stocking for your granddaughter I am sure she will love it. My grandkids could not wait to have theirs. treasures that will last a lifetime.
Thank you so much, Karen!!! I wish I had seen this before I worked on Santa’s face. It might have made it easier. I will see if I need to stitch over anything. Thank you for the grace/permission to fudge in some stitches.
I was so excited for you that you received your new floor stand before your birthday! Happy Birthday, Karen. I have pattern keeper and have several charts loaded but have used it yet. MarkUp looks good, too. I am still stitching from the charts or working copies of the charts. I need to get with the technology!🤣🤣🤣 Have a great time with your new friend. Happy stitching!

I’m glad to hear the developer made this into a yearly subscription. I was just mentioning to my spouse (who is a software guy) yesterday that I was concerned that if the developer didn’t morph it into some kind of subscription model he may not make it and would have to shut the venture down eventually. Honestly the cross stitch market is an incredibly tiny market and we’re privileged that anyone chose to develop a product for it. I don’t know how many of you knit and can remember the Vogue Knitting iOS mobile app for tracking projects. VK obviously didn’t have in-house expertise, but had to hire mobile developers and it wasn’t long before the product obsolesced because they just couldn’t keep versions up to date with the iOS. Their payment was “one and done” with no subscription model, no in-app purchases and no ads so they had no recurring revenue. In the end if you had all your knitting project history in it etc. you lost all that info. I like this mark-up app and was an early user. I even bought a flat bed scanner to be able to take the cross stitch folios and scan them for use in the app. Using a camera photo will not go well. Even with the high quality flatbed scans I’ve had to go into Photoshop on occasion and monkey with the jpg’s to remove slight skewing etc. that I believe was even on the original printed folio.
Great stream ☺️ just thought I’d point something out - you can download pdf files via your Google drive. If you choose pdf, browse, and then tap locations in the top left you can see your Google drive (if it’s connected to your iPad). Also, for people who find it cannot recognise all the symbols - on the Home Screen where you upload your chart, choose the settings button in bottom left and change the app to ‘extra’ mode. Then upload your chart and it will upload it in HD so it can recognise the symbols easier :) hope this helps
Oh Soph that absolutely helps. Thank you for your input. As i said i am just learning this app. But as always when i get asked the questions i try and figure it out. So your input is very much appreciated 🥰❤️
those are the same reasons I am. leaning more and more towards using MarkUp. Gee if only you could combine the 2 apps that would be one awesome app for stitchers. the stats is what has me drawn in. I never remember to write things down and this does it for you. now if they could just have a data base that would give you an overall total. wouldn't that be awesome
@@NeedleBugg I thought same thing. I like both of the apps and if we could just take the pros from both it would be perfect. I think Mark up may have more pros though so it won Oh yeah a whole total would be pretty cool. That would probably be easy to add
And I am loving it!!! I stitched most of the afternoon with no arm pain. Used my Lowry this evening in the living room and could barely do we min. \so we know which stand will go in my stitchy room🤩
Thank you for all your hard work trying to load an image! I’m sorry I opened up a can of worms with the paper pattern. I didn’t make it for the livestream but I made it later. I do have a key on the right side of my chart, so I don’t have to look for a color. I did learn a lot, I’ll have to play with it again on uploading a paper pattern. I have one of the small velke Potoky as well, mine took 9 months, now I’m jealous😂😂. Thanks for a great stream❤️❤️
no can of worms at all. I knew how to do it just could not find the picture on my Samsung. can you tell I prefer Apple products (LOL). any way. I redid that part this afternoon and all is well. there should be a video posting in a few minutes. so do not feel bad. all is good. have a great weekend
Hi Karen, this video is very informative, when I first downloaded the app I was not very happy with some of the features. I got discouraged and gave up, but the way you have explained it makes it look easy. When you down load a paper chart do you still have to adjust the grid yourself? I could not figure out how to do this. Maybe you could show how to import a chart, and adjust the grid. Or will it self adjust like a HEAD?
Welcome! to the channel Mariann. So glad you are joinign us. the stand that i ordered and jut recently recieved is a Potoky Floor stand. www.vpotoky.com i love it. a bit pricey and the wait it pretty long but so worth it.
Hi there. I downloaded the Markip app and paid for it the other day. I have tried for hours to get my Mirabilia chart to work on it. I scanned the chart into pdf. Uploaded it to Markup but it is not recognizing the symbols When I click to pick a symbol it doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong ? Help please and thank you 😊
after you import you will need to enter the DMC numbers as markup, will not recognize them I will make a short video to show how to do this. you can also look for the tutorials on UA-cam that markup has made. I am pretty sure he addresses this issue
On the Symbols pg, that shows the DMC colour list, why would this column not be much closer beside the far right 3 columns ( # stitches for each colour, etc) for easy reading?
That is a good question. I have no idea why they are so far apart. Other than to fill the space. Maybe that is something you could ask in the Facebook group
I recently started using markup RX pee, and when I am working on my long dog sampler, which is the same symbol for the entire pattern when I choose symbol only one square is showing up instead of all the symbols, so it will not let me highlight more than one each time do you know what I’m doing wrong
Lori. You are not doing anything wrong. It started doing the same thing for me. Got so frustrated i went back to Pattern Keeper. If i find a reason or fix i will let you know
Greta. There is a symbol assigned to each color. Tap on the 3 lines under the pattern icon then edit legend. You will see a list of the symbol. You will just need to add the dmc number. You can view the pdf from that screen by tapping pdf at the top of the screen. Then scroll down to the last page and you will see the key. Just tap each symbol and you can the type in the appropriate color number. When you view the pattern when you are stitching it shows the symbols. I hope that helps. If not let me know
Greta i am so sorry i misunderstood your question. In Markup. Yes you can do the same. Tap on the box at the top center of the page. You will be taken to another screen where you can assign color and symbol

Good morning Karen
Hi. Im a new viewer but heard you last night and want to know more about Markup.
if you check my next video #165. I talk more about Markup R-XP. if that doesn't answer your questions just let me know and I will try and help
Very helpful!
This seams so complicated compared to Pattern Keeper. I guess after awhile you would get use to it. Steel seams very complicated. Pouts
How do you assign symbol with each color. Pattern keeper asks you to fill in the ledger. Can you do the same here?

@@NeedleBugg Could you do another video on how to set up the symbols and colors. I’m just not getting it.
Sure. Just to confirm you are talking out Markup R-XP. Is that correct?? I will do it tomorrow after i get back from physical therapy
