    I've been watching all of your Spain study abroad videos bc I'm going from uni in New York to study at UC3M in the fall! I was wondering you could tell me more about what clubbing, going to bars, parties, or just the general scene was like in Madrid (La Latina, Sol, etc.) and how you approached meeting new people and being active while finding new things to do and travelling! It looks so fun, and I really can't wait to go in the fall.

    • @jeweljoya
      @jeweljoya  8 місяців тому +1

      Hey Krishna! So excited for you, it’s an experience of a life time! In all honesty, I didn’t really go out clubbing/bars/party much, but the international student program at UC3M is called “ESN”. You’ll learn all about the program during orientation! They are extremely helpful when it comes to suggesting night life activities. They have designated clubs for designated days and all students get in for free. You can pretty much go clubbing everyday if you wanted too! Make sure to reach out to CityLifeMadrid too, they’re good for recommendations / helping you find your way around the city.
      The general clubbing/going out scene is extremely safe - you can pretty much walk around anywhere at 3am and not feel scared at all - nothing like New York! Obviously there’s some corners that are a bit sketchy, but just be aware and you’ll be fine, it’s not like America. It’s hard to imagine what I mean, but you’ll understand once you get there.
      As for approaching new people, all the international students are there for a good time! Break out of your shell, there’s nothing to be afraid about when approaching new people. People will be way more down to hang, like I met this random girl one day, and the next we were going on a trip together!! People are extremely spontaneous. Lots of Americans will be there so, hopefully that offers some comfort. As for approaching locals, they’re super sweet, and they’re just as nervous to approach you - just say hi and the rest will work itself out.
      Super excited for you!!! Make the most of it while you can :)

    Hey! In which campus are going to? I have being assigned Leganés Campus, but I don’t know if to search a department in Madrid centro and then take the metro or find a place near the campus. Also would like to know about how can I search for the 10-15 people apartment?

    Hi! Thank you so much for the informative video! How far in advance would you suggest depositing for the apartment? Does places like the 15 person apartment book fast? Do rent prices changes towards the end?

    • @jeweljoya
      @jeweljoya  Рік тому

      Hey! I would suggest looking for places 2 months or more in advance, although you can still find places last minute. The places like the 15 person apt book extremely fast, those are usually the first to go! Prices can fluctuate !

    Hi Jewel, thank you for this super helpful video! I also am a UC Berkeley student and am attending UC3M this Spring (I'm looking for housing rly last minute lol). I went on spotahome and couldn't find any 15-person flat homes. Do you think I can't find any bc they are all booked, or is there a separate website to find the 15-person flats? I found an 8-person apartment in La Latina that I am thinking of staying in but I am scared to be with random people, especially in the chance they aren't students. Any advice? Thank you in advance!!

    • @jeweljoya
      @jeweljoya  2 місяці тому

      Hey ! That means they’re all booked. I’d definitely do the 8 person flat. There’s definitely a chance they’re not all students - but there’s nothing wrong with that in my opinion! Of course it’s always a hit or miss… but hopefully it turns out okay! I recommend take the risk.

      Hello! I went to Leganes, but do NOT live near campus. There is nothing to do. Even though it’s more expensive, all my friends agree living in the city is much better. There’s no restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping etc near campus. Live as close as you can to sol. If you want something more private, malasana is good too. I lived in lavapies and La Latina.

    Hi, im also from California and applied to the MBA program at UC3M. Thanks for your sharing your insight. I think finding a place to live in madrid is the most stressful part because of scammers. Do you have any tips on how to spot a scam listing? Also, how is the process like when applying to rental apartments? Is it fairly easy or complicated? I assume the application process and requirements is different compared to the USA.

    • @jeweljoya
      @jeweljoya  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey, congrats on the MBA program! To avoid scammers, I recommend using the website spotahome and putting the verified filter on. The process to apply is simple, but sometimes they do not like to show you how the apartment looks before you pay… which sounds like a scam, but for everyone I knew, it was the same deal… be careful though, I knew about 2-3 people that got scammed; however, I bet the verified filter is your best bet!
