Please, for any person reading this who's thinking about visiting Spain, consider staying at hotels when you come here, temporary rentals for tourists (mainly through airbnb) has led to horrible gentrification. There's a huge huge problem with the affordability of housing for younger people due to the increase in the prices caused by that

I completely disagree with you. If it weren’t because of airbnb, I would not be able to travel alone or with my family. It’s not about airbnb, it’s about considering to build enough houses for everyone and hosting respectful people. Hotels are so expensive and if we continue protecting just hotels, tourism will be only for rich people who can afford Hotel prices. Stop sending this message and try to understand that the only thing you can do it’s to ask for more dwellings.
@@ClaraMR That is a really selfish thing to say...It is becoming imposible for locals to afford to rent a flat (even the shittiest ones are so expensive), so in this case only rich people can have a decent place to live. If that means tourists have to spend a bit more in order for us to improve our situation...Travelling is a privilege, decent housing is a right and a NECESSITY. People with your mindset are turning touristy spots into theme parks.

Was in Madrid last September and it completely enchanted us. We are actually doing another Spain tour in a couple weeks and we are definitely stopping by Madrid again. You're right, Barcelona is also beautiful but there is something Madrid. Cozy, warm ,beautiful and like I said we were enchanted and cant wait to be back
Everything is so much cheaper in Spain as our salaries are too! Spain is passing through a difficult situation when it comes to wealth, salaries, politics, etcetera. Talking a Spanish person myself

thanks birta for your videos from europe and the world. the madrid video gives me a good overview of the city as i will be visiting madrid in november. your city itineraries are similar in content, giving structure to what you like and what you recommend. i am missing a bit more of the art aspect, which is included in the madrid video. I would also be interested in how you get around by public transport and how you manage hotels, flights, do you get good prices or how do you coordinate your budget in advance - what do we want to spend - the topic of european cities and travel budgets. i think it's wonderful that you include the everyday life part as far as possible, such as supermarkets, manicures or other services.

3 stars Hotels in Madrid are wonderful, clean, etc… In Retiro Park there is “La estatua del Ángel Caído” which means “The fallen Angel” and is the only statue about the Devil ever created in Europe at least. Thank you for your kind words about my city.

In polish cities there is also big culture around dogs and people often go with them to cafes, restaurants, shopping malls because there is an overall permission in locals to eat together with your part of the family and no one is suprised. So lately when I was in Cph I was quite shocked how few people have dogs

There are so many dogs in Spain because people can´t afford to have babies. It´s a real issue here. Also, prices keep getting higher compared to the salaries, so it's definitely not cheap for Spanish people. Please stop saying it is cheap and staying in expensive Airbnbs in the city centre, as this makes things harder for locals...

Please realize how privileged you are when you say that everything is "very cheap". For those of us who live in Spain, food costs us three times as much as it did a few years ago and it is impossible for us to live alone, much less consider the idea of buying a house. Try to make a responsible tourism, do not stay in Airbnb.
Wuhuuu, glad you liked Madrid! And yes, it's cheaper compared to Denmark, as the salaries are so much lower. When I visited Denmark, I did find it very expensive.
I visited Madrid this year as well and was taken by surprise by how clean, calm & pretty it is! Thrifted for my first time in Madrid too, also at Humana, and found so many cute & cheap things!! This city truly is amazing!
Next time walk the "Calle Serrano" from "Plaza de República Argentina" (Plaza de los Delfines) until "Park of Retiro". Is a long and elegant street, a wide street, several km long (Like Velázquez street, its paralell), but once you cross María de Molina street starts the Fashion boutiques.

Wuhuuu, glad you liked Madrid! And yes, it's cheaper compared to Denmark, as the salaries are so much lower. When I visited Denmark, I did find it very expensive.

I visited Madrid this year as well and was taken by surprise by how clean, calm & pretty it is! Thrifted for my first time in Madrid too, also at Humana, and found so many cute & cheap things!! This city truly is amazing!

Next time walk the "Calle Serrano" from "Plaza de República Argentina" (Plaza de los Delfines) until "Park of Retiro". Is a long and elegant street, a wide street, several km long (Like Velázquez street, its paralell), but once you cross María de Molina street starts the Fashion boutiques.
