The most common interpretation is that the band kills its past ("Mutter" and before), frees itself from the musical chains from their older times. They don't want to be clones doomed to repeat themselves - one needs to evolve to grow. The outro shows what happen if you don't succeed ...
That's certainly where I am leaning to and love that as an idea. I always want the most creative people to feel like they can spread there wings and make the best material they can without feeling tied to previous endeavours.
Paul landers said it’s not The End. I think like Deutschland was an essay on German history this may be an abstract capsule of R+ history and creative cycles, including the dark Mutter time for them personally. There are a lot of hints of previous albums. The red light may have been fate. They fight critics, fan expectations and themselves to make their own fate. Free will etc.❤
As I'm only just through Mutter on my journey some of this might become more apparent over time. That thought process behind rebirth and not being tied to previous incarnations is a subject that has always fascinated me. Something I always want to see in creative people however a big ask and standards I probably don't follow in my own life. More than anything else it is great to have a band creating works like this that we can watch over and over that engages us and makes us ask questions about the art.
It's interesting to think if the red line is ending there, or beginning there. If it's beginning, then it could be taken as the rest is going to be new and not necessarily connected to previous albums. If the light ends there, then the fading of the light could indicate that this is exactly where they were meant to be guided, and exactly where they are meant to be. Speaking of Paul, I felt a twinge of joy seeing his smiling face during the ascending into the sky scene.
With the red light I kept getting fixated on the 2001/Hal iconography. I don't think it plays a part it just always triggers back to that when i see a red light.
As a recent convert I am glad that this isn't the end. In good new for me I still have a lot of albums in between to experience. In fact our reactions to the Reise, Reise album in it's entirety starts tonight.
Thank you for reacting to this wonderful video ❤ Still, after this video it's nor sure what they really wanted to express. The clones might have been their past that they want to break up with - but on the second hand, these clones look like their current form and maybe these were prepared to replace them and continue doing what the producers and fans want. But then - why are they so sad before setting up fire? Who are these muddy people around their cage? Fans, who want to control them? Why are they called "the damned" in the credits? And then the outro - if they are dead, does it mean that they didn't make it into the chamber? Maybe it shows the only alternative - "if we can't change, we'll die"... Comparing to this, "Deutschland" was trivial to break down - knowing history clearly brought up all the references. "Adieu" is way, way mysterious. And it is maybe the most important music video for the band? Thanks again - wonderful, comprehensive and interesting reaction and review ❤ Can't wait for upcoming videos! 😊 Have a great day! 😁
Thanks for the comment. Yet to get to Deutschland so looking forward to that. The genius of this video is the discussion it is driving. so rare these days to find artists who care about what they create to this extent. I think I will be picking through this video for a long time to come. Probably notice something new every time. I'm still mainly focussed on this as a piece about them remaining who they are regardless of what the fans, producers etc. want. almost a declaration that they will continue to be themselves no matter what. I for one want to get behind this as a message. The outro is something I'm still digging through. Are they dead as this is the end or as you say more of a lean into change or die. I'm hoping for the latter. Thanks for staying onboard for upcoming videos. To be a shameless shill for what already exists feel free to jump back and see our previous endeavours.
If you think about the fact that the lab was labeled mutter-22, and you think about what the song Mutter was about, these clones are just more lab grown creatures who are destined to curse their creation. I feel like the sadness that is shown, is sadness at the thought of what these creatures are being/would be subjected to if allowed to live. So they cry and pray for forgiveness before killing them out of mercy. Ive also heard that there are lost of references to Dante. Since I've never read any of Dante's books, maybe there is an explanation of which circle of hell they are in?
That makes sense - they feel sorry for what they are going to do to these innocent clones, who are not guilty of being brought to life by their creators. As for Dante, we can see the Rapture , the scene with the muddy mob is obviously the hell... so the Opera Garniér is purgatory? Who are the armed guards then? Questions, questions, questions. Simply loving it! ❤️
Indeed, it's not just about the budget available. Their videos are deruved to the total perfection - they won't go wasy with anything, every single shot has to be planned in details and they always care about the message they want to express... even if it is as ambiguous as it is here. But it is what they do - and they never look behind. The art is what really matters.
I really hope you are right as I am only just stepping into this journey. Fantastic video, fantastic song and hope to see more from them in the future.
@PopCulture Productions this song has references from their older and newest songs. For example it starts with deuchland music and ends with zeit music. During the song one who knows their videos can see ich will, mein hertz Brent, mutter and others. You have so many songs to watch and hear. You can begin from those I've mentioned and then watch adieu again and you will see the song from another perspective. They are just amazing no one else is like them. Keep going!!!
@@SPYROSSPAP Hopefully in good news we have recorded the Mutter album videos and they are going up this week. I could certainly see and feel a lot of influence from those. I wasn't sure if this was just recency bias as we'd only just recorded them. On another note I have heard so much about the Deutschland video and can't wait to get to that.
@PopCulture Productions Deutschland is another epic song and video !! You will be amazed. German history. Don't forget about Zeit. I don't know which one of their songs is my favorite. I just love all of them !!! I can't wait for your videos !
@@SPYROSSPAP We have done most of Zeit on the channel as we started there and jumped back in time. The actual song Zeit was released on another channel we used to be a part of. Stuff we don't talk about anymore........... I am planning on grabbing those releases as well though and get them on the channel as not only does it include Zeit but such luminaries as Run The Jewels and Hasselhoff.
They built the perfect circle with Zeit as the song for the credits. It's not their final album. Paul stated that in an interview, the song is about lost persons.
Remember how they sometimes play with people, saying some total nonsense about them - usually on "Making of" videos 😆 But I still hope that their urge for creating more art is much stronger than anything else!
Absolutely stoked to know this isn't the end. I will have to find this interview to read about the origins/meanings behind the song. Thanks for the heads up.

Having rewatched it a couple of times there is definitely call backs to mutter. Thanks for the veiw

Im hoping its not the end, need to see them live again and need to take Seddon to see them

Rise above the past, even if it's a violent and painful process. If you do not you'll (symbolically) die.
The opponents at the beginning seem to be inspired by the "Helghast". The enemies you fight in the videogame series "Killzone".
Good shout and I had totally forgotten about Killzone. Possibly because I was totally inept at it, much like I am at most shooting games.
Letz hope its not the End of Rammstein
Most of the feedback is saying no and that they have said in interviews this isn't the end. Bloody good news if you ask me.
Go back to Ich Will, remember Till's hair then, or the van? This is a goodbye to the Rammstein of Mutter.
A poignant time for us to release our Mutter videos. Coming this week.
