This is Tim's biggest flex to date. Other guitarists have to focus so hard when pulling off licks like this and in this video Tim's like "I can literally do this in my sleep." Another. Level.
it would not shock me if he does play in his sleep, saw a clip when he appeared on Herman Li's stream, and even when he wasn't preforming and just standing there when they were talking his hands were constantly moving like it just starts automatically whenever there is a guitar in his hands
@@delbomb3131 true, if it was math(insert genre) it would be a lot harder to follow the rhythm because of the time signature changes. although its top tier skill level, the structure is very straightforward and digestible.

Time signature and syncopation at it's best. I'm a sucker for nylon, spanish guitar and these guys bring it to a new level. And the drummer, damn. Amazing
@@jimnguyen. Was it easier to come back to nylons? I couldn't stop from being precise with them. I have a very scrappy hold of the thin electric neck. Lot's of percussive dead notes. Kinda like how Frusciante does. That's why I find it difficult to apply precision on classical strings.
@@imrankjamil yeah it's definitely alot easier now. That's true though nylon really does punish you for little mistakes but when you get it down it sounds so heavenly especially the harmonics on it.

As much as we want to be good as Tim for me as long we can compose songs that is catchy as this one even if it is not so technical, We can say it is a win.
Not a guitar person but I've been curious since I first saw Tim play his on one of his videos. From my little research, it seems to be a one-off custom solid body nylon string with piezo pickups. Ibanez had a model (I think SC500N) that looked very much like what Scott's playing and I'm going to make a semi-educated guess and say that a production model of Tim's guitar is probably going to be available from Ibanez at some point around the release of the new album as another Tim Henson signature model. If that happens I'm seriously tempted to buy one just because of how gorgeous of an object it is.

Polyphia demonstrates a trade-off that isn't uncommon with a lot of players with a really high proficiency on the technical end of the spectrum. Clearly they're all insanely good, and demonstrate a deep knowledge of theory. The tradeoff is that every new song I hear from them sounds exactly like the last one I heard, any this is true more so with them in particular. Honestly, the only people I hear talk about them, or even know who they are, are all musicians. And even with that, it's mostly guitar players. Don't get me wrong, if given the choice I'd go with technical ability every time. You can always find band members who can write the songs and melody, or be a sessions player (which always held more attraction for me than the idea of being a rock star for 7 or 8 years).
I'd agree with you, but just on their older stuff. New Levels New Devils and beyond so far has really shown how well they can blend together different genres and truly make music for everyone.
@@atomicguitar21 I'm sure a major component is that the guitar sound the same in almost everything: clean and running through so much compression that any character of the guitar's inherent tone is squashed. Of course the fact I commented on this on a song using nylon string acoustic (technically electric but you get the drift) kind of throws a wrench in that statement.
