Unrelated attorney attempts to halt Chad Daybell murder trial

- Mr. Ratliff, a licensed Idaho attorney, attempted to halt the Chad Daybell trial just before it began.
The motion to continue the trial came on Friday, April 29, just before midnight. That is also the only break most of the lawyers, staff, court staff, and judge had in the lead up to the case.
Judge Boyce questioned Ratliff about why a lawyer, not affiliated with anyone in the case would be entering a motion to continue the case, especially just before it began.
Judge Boyce did not take the answers lightly, shutting down Ratliff's attorney more than once before he decided to impose penalties of court costs and attorney fees for the prosecution and the attorney in dealing with this "frivolous filing."

It took me half a day to figure out what the heck happened. A lawyer not involved in this case in any way has his attorney defend his submitting legal filings to the case and the judge gives him what he deserves. I love the judge's "We're done."

Prior is behind this attempted interruption. Prior and Radcliffe should have stayed out of the booze debate before they decided to put forth a motion full of errors, not to mention he is death penalty qualified. The judge was extremely fair in this trial!

The motion came on Fri, March 29th not April 29th from Terry Ratliffe, Bartlett is his attorney. Ratliffe has tried over 115 jury trials but he was nervous about filing a motion?! What is going on in Idaho?! Someone is trying really hard for a mistrial. Hmm.
He was nervous creating the motion. He probably hasn't done something like this himself for decades. Paralegals, legal assistants, or junior attorneys do it. 😂

As a pro editor I'm trying to figure out - he said it was late and he used a template. But it has spelling errors as well as the wrong filing number. Which right there should have put it in a bin as far as I see. Oh you want this case number? We don't have one....next!

All courthouses have a screening process set up just inside the entrance. Capital cases like this would have EXTRA screening in place next to the metal detectors. This silly man just walked in without being identified and screened? Prior just goes radio silent for the first time in this trial's history???
No, he was summoned to a hearing regarding a frivolous motion he filed near midnight on a Friday. As an attorney, he is able to submit motions electronically. But this one was improper which is why he got roasted by the judge.
