- I'm FINALLY redoing my VERY FIRST Cartoon Deep Dive, the South Park theory that Cartman is subconsciously in love with Kyle! I made this deep dive originally back in 2016 and then two years later Viacom BLOCKED it worldwide (AND IT'S STILL MY 2ND MOST VIEWED VIDEO EVER) so I decided to completely redo it! HOPEFULLY this one will stay up, fingers crossed.

Yes and no. While Cupid me definitely ends up sodomizing him (it's a fantasy while he jerks off in the bathroom, making him a power bottom), he resists the urge of turning him into a Cupid Kyle. Cupid me is more his narcissism incarnate, a side of himself he comes to reject when he beats him up and turns him down for being "gay".

I don’t like ships especially South Park ships. But my belief that cartman likes Kyle goes beyond shipping. It just makes sense. And I would never want to see Kyle and cartman in a relationship. I just think that the fact that cartman might like Kyle is really comedic and a nice touch by Matt and Trey.

I know this video has been done 4 months ago, but there’s more evidence about kyman that recently came up. In the old build of the Stick of Truth game, if you go to the boys bathroom, you’ll see a heart shape drawn in one of the stalls with Cartman + Kyle written inside the heart 😂

There's another thing you didn't mention. In the episode "Cartman finds love" he tries to set up Nichole and Token together because they're both of the same race right? he's determined to make Nichole forget about Kyle, so he tells her Kyle's gay and in a relationship with him. And he claims he only did that because he believes "people who are the same belong together". When I watched the episode I found that quite funny because that didn't bother him at all when Token was dating Wendy... but suddenly when Kyle was involved it did. hm. Maybe it was just because Cartman's a petty little shit but idk kinda gay if u ask me

It's more interesting than the Heiman relationship. Don't get me wrong, I liked Heiman (Doubling Down has become one of my favourite episodes of South Park) but Kyman I think offers more comedic opportunities and I think is something that could be potentially explored someday.

@@kanderson6040 Yes, but a comedy show is supposed to be funny and not necessarily a provider of only "non-toxic" relationships. That's especially true for South Park, which has and had several canon relationships that are there just for the comedy and not because they're what a relationship should be like.
In short, the creators wouldn't really care about if it's good for the characters' feelings or not if they made any relationship a thing.

Kyle's strong hate for Cartman as friends is already funny as it is, now if they were playing house and Kyle was forced to be Eric's partner and each scene had Kyle assaulting him after he said something stupid sure that would be funny but I doubt it would for the long run. I've also never really notice any relationship in south park specifically made for comedy except for the parents' and both Butter's and Lisa's everyone else seemed to be genuinely interested in their partners and had very serious moments

I agree and I know that Kyle would never want to be anything more than friends with Cartman. But Cartman is crazy so that makes sense. So many little things that also shows Cartmans crush were left out.

I have to agree. And really? I think that Heidi is MORE evidence that Cartman has a thing for Kyle. After all, Kyle was the first one to like her when she came... she was everything he wants in a person. She was nice, caring, and really? Everything Cartman ISN'T. And how does Cartman act as soon as they're together? He begins to tear Heidi down, eventually making her a female Eric Cartman. Then, when Heidi pulls a Cartman on Kyle when they're looking for Ike, Kyle speaks to her the same way he speaks to Cartman; angrily, disgusted, and he flat out says he could NEVER be attracted to someone like that.
Add to it, Cartman's little diary drawings in Stick of Truth. The games count as a side-canon, because they're written and voiced by the South Park cast after all. Cartman's journal is FULL of hardcore sex drawings he himself did, many involving Kyle having homoerotic relations and drawn with a rather huge dick for a kid. Cartman is DEFINITELY in love with Kyle, even if he doesn't realize it himself.

He literally married a Jewish woman and became a rabbi in an alternate universe. There are only Freudian explanations to this. He couldn't be with Kyle, so he settled with the next best thing. Also, dating someone Kyle had a crush on could be seen as a proxy of dating Kyle himself.
Also Cartman has already shown a lot of gay tendencies. Dude literally dressed up as Britney Spears and danced around in his backyard.
Not to mention that he, as well as Stan, is voiced by Trey, and they are known to have a very strong friendship.
Without Kyle in his life, Cartman molds his entire life to Kyle's standards.
With Kyle in his life, Cartman can't stop making his life miserable.
Kyle is really Cartman's problem. He is still present even if he starts a family and children. It was also recently confirmed to us that both Cartman and Stan are capable of feeling jealous if Kyle makes other friends or leaves the quartet (both became jealous of Kyle and Token's friendship). Stan openly acknowledges this jealousy but Cartman hides it through the excuse "that he does it for Stan because he feels alone without Kyle."
Kenny is the only one who doesn't depend on Kyle in the quartet.
There seems to be a lot of evidence to suggest Cartman is at least bi. In the Raisins episode, he completely ignores the raisins girls and is way more focused on the food, while the other boys are all mesmerized by the girls. Also he imagines himself having sex with Cupid Me in “Tweek x Craig.”

I 100% agree with you on this my dude. If Cartman really hated Kyle as much as he said he does, he would have him be killed or worse. Think about what happened to Scott Tenermen. So if Cartman hates Kyle so much why did he go through and save his life twice? Once in Imaginationland Part II (in which he legitimitly seemed upset that he though Kyle was dead) and the other is Smug Storm. The Cartman we know would have also told Kyle that he was the one to save him, and would say that he owes him. But Cartman tells no one. Only he and Butters know.
I definitely agree with it, and don't know how this affects the argument but I see Cartman with a sort of Joker/Batman feeling for Kyle, where he wants Kyle only to himself, needs him alive, because it completes him, gives him someone to constantly rip on and want to see lose.

DUDE. I had the same theory just from seeing some stuff from the show I’m watching it completely now (I’m only in season 4) BUT WOW, with this dude, for me, is as good as confirm, if he doesn’t have a crush in Kyle then IDK WHAT it is, it usually annoys me when there are unnecessary love conflicts or stuff like that on series, BUT I CANNOT WAIT for Cartman to realize his crush IT’S GONNA BE A MESS AND I’M SO EXCITED
Oh, and in a side-note I think there’s also prof of this in the game TFBW in the beginning where you have to search for Cartman’s diary in his room and when you find it, there’s some drawings of his classmates doing sexual acts, and it kinda says something that the most prominent character in those drawings is Kyle (there’s also Butters and Craig which I believe Cartman at least have some attraction to them too but not at the same level of his attraction to Kyle)
All kyman shippers start like that. First it's "haha Cartman probably has a crush on Kyle", then it's "why did Kyle bother to get Cartman out of trouble in Jewpacabra, why was Kyle willing to give up the money he had saved fom three consecutive birthdays just to get Cartman out of his own mess, etc." then it's "damn I've been overanalysing these characters' interactions in the show and reading slowburn enemies to friends to lovers fanfiction for the past few weeks".

Great theory that I think Matt and Trey would have fun with, but they didn’t think that far ahead, and all of what cartman does is purely for his sick pleasure. Kyle is his Batman

I see so many people shipping people because they know each other Basically and I hate it, but this makes much sence.
I always thought it was the other way because Kyle is constantly getting involved in cartmans B plots in episodes, whenever cartman is up to something Kyle always has to be there to stop him but you always see other characters like Stan and Kenny telling Kyle to stop coz it won’t change anything yet Kyle always wants to be involved.
But in his case, it's more because of his personality. He is proactive and wants to make things right. It's not about love at all for him.
yeah he does love him, but only because he enjoys messing with him. it’s love but it’s the only love that somebody like cartman can understand. you can see this through how he’ll go to extensive lengths to save kyle, which shows he does care.. but the catch is it’s only because he knows if he loses him he wouldn’t have him to mess with. kyle would never feel the same way.

There are scenes where Kyle cares about Cartman too! The one that comes to mind for me is in Jewpacabra when Kyle brings Cartman home at the end of the episode and tucks him in bed. They also worked really well together in the ass burgers episode.

When Cartman had Kyles entire family detained Stan got so pissed off about it he sent Cartman to the detainment camp and then he is (Stan) is writing songs another how much he hates his dad and how much he misses his super best friend cause he never gets to see him! Then at the end of band in China when Kyle and cartman get off the bus Stan yells kyles name super happy !
There is also the moment in Tweek x Craig where they show Stan looking just as confused and lost as they show Tweek x Craig and Thomas (Craig’s dad) which could imply something about Stan’s sexuality because it turned out Tweek x Craig were actually gay (put it down (Craig calls him babe and honey in private) the fractured but whole (the entire game is a Creek love fest and Craig actually tells the new kid he is gay) most importantly Trey and Matt have confirmed Creek is canon)
So you really need to wonder the significance of that moment when they show all of them staring at the celling in confusion! Like why show Stan at all unless it means something?
It prob will be dropped but it wouldn’t be shocked if somewhere down the line it’s heavily implied that both Stan and Cartman have feelings for Kyle!

@@thecommie9992 Creek is mine (obviously lol) but I do love style as I love the added best friends angle! It could be very angsty and I think looking back over the series there are several episodes where Stans reactions towards Kyle seem to be way more then that of just a super close friend!
Them making Tweek x Craig canon was the first time though I was like would It be possible they would actually also make one of the other(main) boys bisexual and at least have them address them having a crush on one of their friends so even if we don’t get canon style we get like canon style!

Maybe Kyle reciprocates those feelings, and while Cartman isn't aware of it Kyle might be, the friendship of the four is built around Cartman for Kyle.
"You're getting old" Stan suffers with feeling depressed and Kyle avoids him to go hang out with Cartman and play video games, and in South Park lore staring at someone, smiling and playing video games is considered a big deal.
"Jewpacarbra" has Cartman hounding Kyle again, he ends up chained in a bunny suit and Kyle says he'll help if Cartman admits to lying, in the end Kyle takes Cartman to bed and Cartman gets made an honorary Jew the next day. In the newest episode where Kyle is in camp, Cartman is made an honorary Jew again.
"Tegridy farms" Has Cartman vaping and once again Kyle is trying to get him out of a situation, he lets things happen but when Cartman is at risk he offers his birthday money allowance to bail Cartman, three years worth.
Kyle has also had some messy feelings when it comes to Cartman and Heidi's relationship.

Kyle literally shows not one hint of interest in Cartman. The whole reason why he was disturbed by Cartman is bc he A. Most likely had feelings for Heidi. B. Couldn't believe that one of the most hated and asshole-ish people got to date someone nice and caring like Heidi. And C. He also needed Cartman to be mean (to help him) and found the sudden change in his personality to be disturbing to say the least.
I mean just because Kyle is a decent human being doesn't mean he's suddenly into antisemitic fat kids.
Nah. I think Kyle is entertained and repulsed by him, and in several episodes, he barely considers Cartman a freind. I think Cartman’s obsessed with Kyle, but Kyle will never reciprocate it

Yeah I've been debating this theory for ages! It's definitely obsession on Cartman's part...I mean, it's like he NEEDS Kyle's attention most compared to the rest of the group and can barely function when he's away lol. There is something deeper to Cartman's feelings towards Kyle for sure. He might be acting like a complete asshole just to suppress the fact he is actually gay for his 'friend.' It's deffo one sided though because I don't see Kyle ever reciprocating such feelings and that's just the consequence of how much Cartman has continued to bully him. Maybe Cartman always figured Kyle would never like him back, so proceeds to act even more like a total asshole towards him? Who knows tbf.
