      Yes, I have. When I go to put my bunnies they often try to leave before being set down. Instead I often get lower to the ground and let them jump off of me, making sure they have a firm jumping platform and a clear place to land. Is that acceptable or still better to set down?

    My rabbit , thyme. He was born in a shelter then got adopted and was taken back 2 weeks later for being aggressive. After that he was put into another shelter to spend the rest of his live in with another agressive rabbit that chased him and he had to fend off juniper to get food. Then my rabbit Benjamin died from his teeth over growing I got thyme and now he is living his best life in his own room. He binkies everyday and it’s like a happily ever after for him

    Honestly that last point about cleaning is soo true.
    While cleaning her enclosure my bunny, Shade would:
    1) sit at a distance and stare at me
    2) hop in and play with the broom
    3) play somewhere else
    Every single time, she thinks I'm done, Shade will hop back in her enclosureto inspect my work. If it's clean enough she'll settle into her little house. If not she'll show me all the spots I missed by digging the floor. Sometimes she does this while I'm still cleaning, sit in the enclosure, and stare at me like "Hooman, clean faster or you're fired!"

The guy who had them was feeding them dog food!!!! Neither of them pooped for the first 2 days I had them then sh- Storm but that was better than GI Stasis) so yeah male peepee room gets messy sometimes, they're really good about using the litter pans I give them but they are intact males so baking soda down and all I do is sweep it up!! I'm 18 months into my journey with my rabbit Karen, and I've been watching your videos since the day my neighbors bought him. I convinced them to let me care for him, and soon he became my bunny! He's 100% free roam. He has a cage (I call it his "little house") but the door is always open unless I need to confine him while I clean the room we live in. We've been together since he was a juvenile, and he's known nothing but love and the best care I can give him. He binkies and circles my feet every day, and I pick him up for just a minute or two of shoulder time each day, so he's used to being handled when necessary. I have a little mantra I recite for him while I hold him: "You're the best baby bunny in the whole wide world, and daddy loves you." When shoulder time is over I place him down on my pillow, and he's free to do whatever he wants. Now I live with people who have a one eyed cat, and Karen and Oden the Kitty play and cuddle together (always supervised) several times each day. Thanks for your channel! I watch every single video the day it comes out.

    An important thing to keep in mind is that affection/attention are best if given when the bun "asks" for them.If your bun wanders up to you and gives a nudge, feel free to give them a pat or two, maybe an ear rub, whatever. The important part is that the bun sets the boundaries here. If you decide to pet your bun and they just wander off, they simply aren't in the mood. Don't get clingy and chase them around trying to pet them, it will only stress them out.
    Some buns are rather aloof, and simply hanging out where they can see you and you them is what passes for social interaction. Just roll with it. Even an aloof bun will look for pets and other forms of affection when they feel comfortable with it. Keep in mind that as far as most buns are concerned, we are big, clumsy, erratic weirdos; they may not trust us enough to get close under most circumstances.
    My own bun seems to be most comfortable looking for attention when I go to bed or wake up. She knows that if I'm laying down I'm unlikely to get up and walk around, rearrange things, knock stuff over, etc. When I'm getting ready to sleep or just waking up, I'm more predictable, and she trusts me lying down to sleep or a bit groggy and waking up more than she does when I'm awake and sitting on the couch or whatever (she never knows when I'm going to get up, reach for something, etc.).

    • @winterspice4992
      @winterspice4992 Рік тому +3

      That's so cute! My rabbit mostly asks for attention when I'm sitting down by nudging me and standing up, it's so adorable especially when he's sitting with me. He hates when I pet him out of the blue though, he runs away and thumps sometimes. He doesn't seem to mind other people doing it tho...

      Mine was extremely anxious when I first got him but now if I join him on the floor he either runs around in circles around me and oinks very excitedly or he nudges me, he never runs away from me now. I can pet him for over an hour and he will still nudge me constantly. He's very needy and can be extremely clingy, not that I'm complaining lol.

    We recently lost our 14 year old bun. He was our first & we went through a big learning curve figuring out what worked best for him. When my husband occasionally forgot to change his litter box, or feed him early enough in the day. Hubby is getting dementia. So when I got home he would charge me, or growl to let me know he was not pleased. He was very adept at expressing his feelings. We didn’t think we would get another bunny when he passed, but we & especially our Pekingese who was bonded to him from the time we brought her home just missed it too much to not own another rabbit. They make me laugh & so very happy every day. Free roam & happy little guy

    When the University of Victoria was murdering the Campus bunnies, in 2010, one dodge the local bunny lovers used (aside from discrete late night removals and petitions and protests) was to slink around campus and douse the traps with a mixture of vinegar and hot sauce. I use a spray bottle with diluted white vinegar for rabbitat cleaning, and if I don’t keep the bunnies occupied, they try to lap it up before I can wipe it up. That's what got me to Google "can bunnies have vinegar" in the first place.

    I've had my bun for maybe 6 or 7 months now and I started out completely wrong with him. I bought the biggest cage I could find because he's a flemish giant, but would never let him free roam. I didn't trust him at first, also because he bit me several times and was breaking things by chewing on them like cables and wires. Now I know it's just his nature and I need to bunny proof my home. Now that I have I've started to let him free roam a bit longer everyday and I've also been building trust with him. I trust him a lot and I believe he trusts me too. He comes to lay with me on the couch and today he even jumped on my lap! That was a huge step forward for us. I'm also giving him more hay and fresh veggies, and it's paying off. He binkies everyday when I let him out of his cage. I'm very happy I found your channel, without you he would probably Still be locked up and I'd Still be afraid of him. Thank you so much 💕💕

      You don’t need to overthink it that much, I’m in a studio apartment and the bunnies have never been bothered enough by my cooking to let me know about it 😛

      Cooking meat or garlic is just fine just turn on the vent or crack a window if you're worried. Don't deliberately go put garlic or meat up by your bunnies nose. Or try to pet them after chopping garlic etc

      It may totally depend on the bunny. Our bun doesn’t mind our cooking at all. He shows no signs of being bothered by it. If you’re cooking something that is strong by even your standards, you can always pop a window open. But we also talk to our bun when we’re doing things, so he’s learned that when we say his name in our “happy tone” it means everything is safe and fine, and we’ll make these happy noises whenever we’re doing something we think may make him nervous. It seems to help a lot!

    Hi Lennon, can you make a video on newborn bunnies? On how to save them. I lost five of them recently, it’s so heartbreaking

  • @AlanCanon2222
    @AlanCanon2222 Рік тому +3

    One good piece of advice from Lennon's channel is to get to where you and your bunny are equals. If you can get to that point, then a lot of worries just disappear. You can give your bunny massages just where they like them (for my Karen, this includes her hip muscles and shoulder blades, just like a human would like). Bunnies can also be in different playful moods, or in modes where they're happy to just chill. Bunny will let you know what mood they're in. It's not hard to learn to take their cues. At the end, if you just always do whatever your bunny rabbit wants, at all times, there will be no trouble! And you will have earned the trust of a forever friend. Of course I am saying that because I have my bunny Karen, who is the best little baby bunny in the whole wide world, which is true.

    One of my bunny's is scared of heights, he likes to be on the floor and will not jump on any of the furniture including the couch. Thankfully my vet caters to his anxiety and always make sure he has a ground floor dog enclosure when he needs a vet visit and they do their best to ensure its as quiet for him as possible so he doesn't get stressed out.

    The litter box one is so true! And the position of it according to my bunnies. Put it in the wrong place and they will ignore it or try and move it. I've also noticed that when they have time outside in the garden (weather dependant etc) they want multiple entrances/exits to the space. They tell me this by digging their own if I do not provide enough 🤣🙈

    I would add to not break their routine - my bun Ziggy Bundust gets very ornery if I'm so little as 15 minutes late with a feeding or litterbox cleaning time (his box is thoroughly cleaned every day at 10:05 am). He punishes me by banging on the baby gate, and ripping up carpet around the gate. He is free roamed, but kept out of our bedroom right now as we try to figure out how best to proof it and still have the room be functional for us. I think he's also a little butthurt about not being allowed in our bedroom yet - he's a pushy little guy who wants to get into absolutely everything!!

When i come back home and i open my bedroom door he run inside and start marking the territory and he loves really staying in my arms when im walking around. And alwa hates so much when im still sitted and relaxed, he really wants me to walk when he's up on my shoulder. He does that just with me, when other people try to take him he runs away.

Small amounts of pellets, activia yogurt, raspberries, banana and tomatoes. That’s what he will eat, 2-3 times a day. Any suggestions anyone??? Love your channel Lorelei.
