- The El Dorado Royale, an all-inclusive spa resort by Karisma in Riviera Maya, Mexico, offers several options for breakfast. Since there was no breakfast buffet, we decided to eat at La Isla, one of the restaurants. Kimberly only ordered some appetizers, as she wasn't that hungry. Neil however ended up having a nice sized breakfast. Love the snacks with the pineapple marmalade but the food generally is pretty poor as of June 2022
So we're not the only ones raving about the pineapple marmelade! 😛 Sorry to hear that otherwise the food wasn't as good though. Hopefully, they will bring it back to the standards we experienced when we stayed there. Thanks for watching, Chris!

Oh love the breakfast offerings there so interesting...on a whole what would you rate this resort?...Do you prefer Mexico over DR?...I know we are definitely preferring Mexico although we did enjoy our time at the GBP Ambar years ago in the DR we really do love Mexico!!...Viv
From what we have experienced so far, we do prefer Mexico over the DR by a landslide!
What we would rate the El Dorado Royale... Oof, tough one. There were many things we liked, but there were some drawbacks as well. Also depends on who of us you ask. Kimberly would give a solid 8/10, with the not so impressive beach being the only reason it wouldn't get a 10/10 from her. I would give it a 6/10. Adult-only was a big plus, service was top-notch, the grounds paradise-like, food was tasty, and they had great, welcoming rooms. However, the aforementioned beach as well as the lack of buffet options causes it to lose several points with me, as I find those things (particularly the buffets) important.
It must be noted though that different resorts would be a great match for different people. If you're not much of a beach person anyways and the lack of buffet options doesn't bother you, this might very well be a great resort for you. That said, Kimberly would have no hesitation to book anyone into this all-inclusive resort.
